damn, moonfesta sound nice but to think that its copy of another melody :uh..: Any possibility Sony has bought the copyright for the Majora Mask one?

LOL, how can you even consider that? :XD: I could pick from memory right now at least half dozen similar cases, and I don't think King Records has bought the copyright over Survivor's Eye of the Tiger main riff to use it as introduction to Chihiro Yonekura's Eien no Tobira, for example. This kinda of thing happens a lot.
And guys, don't even think of asking Kajiura about this, for God' sake! How would that sound?! "Dear Ms. Kajiura, I'm great fan of yours and I've been wondering if you used the melody of a BGM from The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask as the verse of Kalafina's moonfesta." :uh..:

^Dont worry, I'm not planning, to ask, after all, Yuki herself had said in her interviews that doesnt pay attention to the works of other composers, so I guess it was just a coincidence, and since grunty says that its a so simple melody that a kid could come up with it, then I wont consider it plagiarism :XD:

Yes, that! No respectable composer would ever do that conscioulsy! :XD:

Guys,
drop it.
1. The tracks are not identical.
2. There is nothing original about using E-minor notes one after the other with a simple rhythm like this.
Love,
grunty

Agreed :XD:

Ah, it's indeed a happy Hikaru song. The radio version made it sounds smoother, but the CD version must have another sharp-voiced Hikaru. This one is even already soooo sharp for my liking. So not gonna buy this single. And that Wakana canon-singing in the second chorus is totally feel like :

Kajiura : I totally don't know how to put Wakana in this one. Keiko could always do the harmony. Well, let her sings it in canon-way :uh..:

It's another "the instrumental version will be much better" song for me, despite the similarity with Majora's Mask.

I like this song :nosebleed:
It gives me the Bela Bartok feel to it!
Well i must say that this song isn't a song that everyone would like
Folk music isn't something that suits everyone but for KalafinaXFolk Music
i'm totally for it

well key thing to note...
My Professor always tells us when we compose music...think about the target audience :sohappy:
So Moonfesta would be for children...it has to be easy to listen too, catchy and kinda cutesy in someway or another
I think Kajiura sama expressed herself very well again
After all, people don't call her a genius in putting music into pictures for nothing :) :dote:
(Kinda reminds me of the soundtrack Maze by Yuri Kasahara :ayashii: )

Finally got to hear it. I think it's going to take some getting used to for me. Listening to it for the second time. I think the beginning sounds like a Blackmore's Night song, and then it goes into a more Pikmin sounding one (like the one in Smash Bros Brawl). I was not expecting it to be this happy sounding, I don't know. lol I like that part around 1:00 or so. As far as sounding like MM, I am sure Yuki didn't mean it. I don't think she would intentionally copy someone's work since then that would be on her record or whatever. Anyways, I am hoping the second song is better too, but this song makes me laugh now to think about it. :shy:

Glad that people are calming down. All this Majora's Mask parallel is amusing, but it's kinda disturbing to see some taking it seriously. :desksweat: I already posted another link with that Soviet song I heard a bit of similarity with, and I'm sure that a thorough research would give us a ton of tracks bearing a similar melodic pattern all around the globe. Either we go all the way and wonder if Yuki plagiarised them all, or we get real and drop the matter.

Besides, as someone joked, "There are but seven notes to work with". Composing is an old job, and whatever you do, there's always a good chance that somebody did it before once or more. :XD: So coming up with associations is inevitable; jumping to conclusions is what one shoud avoid.

Personally I would prefer if they were sharing the lyrics in that part the way they had done in Kimi ga Hikari ni Kaete iku build up (2:19-2:48), im oit would be sounding much better than now, that wakana just repeats what Hikaru sings.

Couldn't agree more :XD: That's what I have in my mind for years, now. I catch lots of similarities in melodies/progressions/whatever in various songs I know. I think the only way to completely avoid this is to go really radical, but then your music would be for few listeners only. So, I guess this kind of thing will always happen in "popular" music.

:white: :white: :white: :omg: :omg: OMG laaaate :vortex: :vortex: :vortex: Why is it whenever something happens in the Kajiura world I'm always busy in the real world?? :blood: :blood:

Will listen later, these mixed reviews make me unsure of what to expect... :ayashii:

my thoughts exactly :...: except for me it's usually when I just happen to be in a place without internet :rain:

After listening to the sample, I think I'll wait till the full song is released before forming an opinion :ayashii:

/listens

...oh my...goodness... :XD: :XD: :XD: :XD:

Well...it certainly is...er...different, for a Kalafina song... :ohoho: :imdead: I think I'll have to wait to hear the full version and/or the non-Minna no Uta version before I can say if I like it or not...

And wow, Hikaru sure is singing a bit higher than usual...dunno if it's just the quality or my ears going funny but for some reason I can barely tell the 3 girls apart in this one :ohoho: Does Keiko sing the main melody for a bit in the sample? :confu: I wasn't sure if it was her or a strange-sounding Wakana or Hikaru? :confu:

But yeah, Keiko was hard to hear...I think at some point I did hear her on the lower harmony whilst Hikaru+Wakana sang the main line in unison (or was it just Hikaru by herself? :confu: ) Ah well...moonfesta's going to be quite...interesting... :ayashii:

/can already imagine the on-stage dancing if they perform this song live :XD: :XD: :XD: :XD: :XD:

I hear Keiko in the second verse, am I hallucinating?

I like Wakana's canon in the refrain a lot, it's different from what we usually hear from them :shy:

The song reminds me a lot of music from the XVI century or so, can't wait to hear the other version

^ I hear Keiko singing with Hikaru on the second verse. I'm not sure if Keiko's leading, since they're kind of overlapping each other, but I do hear the both of them. I think I hear Keiko doing some lower harmony in the chorus as well.

I can just imagine what choreography will be made for lives. :psst:

Yes, I think (and hope) that it's Keiko leading in the second verse since she sounds more prominent in it than the first one. Hikaru's voice is quite distinct and overpowering so it's hard to tell with the low quality sample.

I hope the choreography is like te to te to me to me :ohoho: for the lols

yah, I can barely hear Wakana and Keiko over Hikaru :XD: Hope it'll be easier to distinguish their voices when we get a decent quality of it

Emmmm,I think I like the song very much.It reminds me of my childhood,XD

Thank you so much elcazador!! :sohappy:

That princess kinda looks like Hikaru :ayashii:

and can someone write down the lyrics as shown in the video please :plz:

Thanks elcazador! :dote:

So, now with a clearer version, I hear Keiko leading with Wakana occasionally overlapping in the first half of the second verse, and then Hikaru joins in the second half as lead, somewhat overlapping with Keiko's part.
