Kalafina 18th single "One Light" for Arslan Senki [confirmed]

I'm going to go ahead and let myself get hyped for this. The show has different producers from the other two shows we got last year/this year so hopefully they ask something different of her.

Yeah, it would be strange... But FOW can't be unreleased song. Does it mean an album? Or one more single (please no! :ghost:)? They must release FOW before live tour

Or FOW might be on the next RHH album, which I was expecting there not to be, but since there is more of the documentary, there has to be, right? But yes, let's hope for the album.

One Light doesn't sound that bad, like I said, it could be a more cheerful song or a sad song, could go either way. But wow, a lot of harsh things are being said about Yuki right now when her Hanako ost was brilliant. And I enjoyed Ring Your Bell and Believe, just not HB so much. I will also wait, since it is a lot about what the director asks of her, and then uses that to channel a song from what could only be her enormous mind (I imagine each of the girls being in her mind, telling Yuki how to do each song, and then each instrument (and band member) too lol).

what is so harsh about what was said?

I guess just that people are saying that the last 4 or so Kalafina singles (maybe just the a-sides) were terrible. I don't like all Kalafina songs, but I do give them a try. People seem to be saying that they lump all of the songs together just because they were so close together. I think Believe is different from HB, because that fast part wasn't in there, and I like Believe. And Ring Your Bell wasn't so terrible. But that's just my opinion, so I don't want to start anything. I was just saying that it could be partly the director telling her what to do too. But she herself writes the song, and directs the girls then in what to do. heh

Don't we all give them a try? We wouldn't really have opinions of them if we didn't. We will certainly give One Light "a try" but it's hard to look forward to it after not enjoying the last few (or more) singles.

PS. I think believe's verses are wonderful. Too bad about everything else.

to the beginning, HB, believe, RYB was for the same producer, isn't it? So maybe in case One Light would be another expectations from the producer of Arslan Senki? E.g. Nana Mizuki's Synchrogazer and Vitalization was similiar because of they was for the same anime (Senki Zesshō Symphogear G.)

HB was a different person wasn't it? The other three (plus Manten) were all ufotable/Fate jobs. I mean, the director of Aldnoah and F/Z was the same, as was the fact Urobuchi was involved in both in some way, but that's it. I guess F/SN, F/Z and AZ were all Aniplex, but so was PMMM.

And it can't be the 'last four a-sides' since one of those was KnGnN which was amazing. RYB wasn't great but it's still not bad, either. It's just Heavenly Believe that's crap.

I'm hopeful that Kajiura is still able to write her best music. lapis and tsuioku are a proof of this, we just need to be patient. I don't expect One Light to be as good as her first works but I still believe she has the sparkle to make her music shine like it did before.

P.S. This is just an answer to all the apocalyptic scenarios I've read this far on her current work. (not only on this thread)
Tbh I quite like HB, believe and RYB and I can't see any similarity.

There does seem to be a tendency for people to use hyperbole or exaggerated language, and often leave the context either unsaid or mentioned in a separate conversation...generally I mean. That's not a dig at any one individual - I guess it's just the way that people often talk about stuff online. When something "sucks" or is described as "OMG EAR CANCER" just because of a couple of bum notes or off-balance sound levels, I don't think the people actually mean it to be taken literally. Plus, several singles have been released fairly close together, so I think it's understandable that they sort of blur together when we try to remember them.

When A-sides sound a bit samey and 'average' while the B-sides are more varied and popular, it suggests that the issue doesn't lie with the songwriter. In other words, I don't think Yuki's suffering from writer's block or burnout. She's probably writing singles that her employer/client is asking for ("please write a 'TV show theme song' type of single for us,") and enjoying a bit of creative freedom with the B-sides. If several songs are serving a similar purpose, maybe that's why they sound similar. Writing theme songs and soundtrack scores has quite a lot of constraints to it, thinking about it.

I legitimately can't stand Believe, though. I've listened to almost every Kalafina song dozens of times if not hundreds, but Believe only a handful because I don't find it enjoyable to listen to.

What Martin is saying is why I still have hope. Believe, RYB and TTB are all for the same series and all sound somewhat similar, although the latter two are far better. Even so, the b-sides are still top notch. In Every Nothing is great, Koibito is amazing and sounds fresh and Lapis is really nice, too. Coupled with the fact that I've always thought that the single releases are weaker than album only tracks and b-sides even as far back as Red Moon I still think the album will be good, it'll just be marred with a couple of tracks I don't care for.

Is it me or are they displaying a certain degree of hotness in this picture? I like it. :ayashii:

With that, I really look forward to this single, as what I always did in the past since "to the beginning". For every single I have encountered, there is always something positive in it. Heavenly blue for instance, is one of my most favorite Kalafina songs despite having some similarities with their other songs that I have already heard (including those before F/Z). I guess it must be more because of the lyrics and how it was used in the anime, which makes me move so easily. I liked believe when I first heard it, although I easily got tired of it. Its b-sides are worthy of being in my playlist every now and then though. ring your bell was a good welcome as well, with Koibito being likable too.

I will always not get tired of listening to Kalafina, despite all these imperfections. xD

wow the promo picture looked really nice. and yes the girls looked hot.

but I won't let myself fooled by great promo pictures. believe had a great and darkish promo picture but the song turned out to be rubbish. at least the whole single is not bad (thanks to lapis).
