Kalafina 18th single "One Light" for Arslan Senki [confirmed]

Shadow and light reminds of yin-yang. and believe promo pic was also with dark surrounding (but not dresses) but the song turned out very bright, so I dont know what to expect.

I'm not expecting anything but I agree with grunty, I think it'll be a pop-ish song. I don't think the song will be dark because it'll contradict the title itself :p well after consolation we can't judge a song based on its title though...

the girls looked more and more like Perfume btw. anisong version of Perfume.
 
this is surprising. the picture kinda gives me a magia feel but i'm not getting my hopes up. i'm just gonna get that so called "dark" hikaru-wakana formula again and i'm not feeling it.

Great promo pic. Extremely surprised given the how generic the title is. And are the days of terrible Kalafina cover art finally behind us? My oh my do they look amazing.
 
I don't know what to make of that image really. I can see ritardando's Perfume comparison though. I'm still not sold. I do like those dresses and the girls look gorgeous but it just seems kinda generic and uninspired. Hoping that it indicates a darker, rockier song but there's no guarantee of that, even.

Wow, this thread turned out rather pessimistic/cynical! I think Kalafina is the only fandom where I've observed fans actually being unhappy that a new release is coming lol :XD: I personally still enjoyed heavenly blue/believe/ring your song, even if not as much as their older works. But I hope for everyone's sake that we are pleasantly surprised :w00t:

^ actually I can kind of imagine an uplifting power-ballad type for that. Maybe even something along the lines of Sora wa Takaku? Can't really imagine a dark/angsty song though... :ayashii:

I'd say it's probably because we are a pretty damn small community here that's (thankfully) no longer overflowing with stans/overzealous fans that want everyone who says a negative thing about their idol to die.

Agreed, and while I don't know much about them, they're becoming more and more interchangeable with Perfume, at least superficially. One of my Japanese students told me when I showed their photo, "Oh! Perfume?"

Anyway, as for the One Light single, I'm keeping my hopes neutral, as we don't really know what to expect from this. Still hoping for it to be likable at least, though :ayashii:

at this rate the next album will be entirely single songs
 
Why are you surprised at all the negativity? HB and Believe are the same generic anison garbage that I came to Kalafina to avoid and RYB wasn't exactly spectacular. If they keep this up then I see no point in even listening to the a-sides, might as well listen to thousands of other artists doing the same thing.

Hoping that if it is a bright song that it'll be more like Moonfesta or Hikari no Senritsu, but I'm expecting more crap like Mirai.

And if the new album is entirely single songs then I'll skip it, just like I did with the best albums.

Yikes, that was fast. Not that I'm surprised though. I just checked Amazon and CDJapan and it's not even up for preorder from them yet. I hope the sales figures of RyB will be helpful for the stores and distributors. Having more than a few hours to place our orders would be nice. :XD:

I don't know what to think, tbh I was expecting something like Ongaku (the dresses gave me a rock feeling) but after reading what Kajiura-sama wrote I have a stone cold feel. The pic also reminds me of stone cold.

Hmm some very interesting thoughts... I couldn't agree more.

I'm actually also thinking of some sort of Taylor Swift style for some reason... maybe it's the black dresses? And the title ...
 
As said (written) in one blog which reviewed heavenly blue, the problem with Kalafina is that they had a really GREAT start, wavered a bit in the middle of their career though they're still unique and have their own style. But their recent releases are way too generic, and while the songs are somewhat passable, as in not as bad as other anisongs, they simply show how far their musical quality has dropped since their debut. Thank god there are B-side songs that, while are not that unique anymore (at least to me), still maintain the quality Kalafina used to have. Hence my negativity.

Kajiura has said that she composed around 200 (or was it 20? All I remember is she composed many songs each month) songs each month iirc, so I'm not worried about them having no new album materials. It's the quality that I'm asking about.

I only hope the song will feature less Wakana as possible (although it isn't likely). We used to have at least one Hikaru-heavy A-side (something like Magia, progressive, moonfesta) in each era but so far we have none so I hope for a Hikaru-Keiko song.
