Actually it's Kido Kiyo...for some reason her and her strings group did all the work in this OST, which includes her playing solo in the classical pieces.

I can't help but be biased...Magia is, in my opinion, about a hundred times better than Connect :spotlight:

^ Eh, I don't hate it, but it just sounds exactly like every cliche mahou shoujo opening ever, so it's annoying. Which I guess is the point of the show, but it just tries so hard to give you diabetes via sugary cuteness that I can't really stand to listen to it.

I also don't have much of a positive opinion of the Madoka thing itself, either...
 
I agree it's catchy...that's what drives me crazy about it :ohoho: But Claris' voices are not very strong (sometimes they sound as though they're about to go off-key or fail completely), and that makes me wonder why they even got signed to a record company in the first place...plus, the synth strings in the arrangement really stand out, in a bad way.

But I do like the Game Instrumental, come to think of it :XD:
 
Ah, as far as the voices are concerned, ClariS are indeed weak in this department. But it's not like the song really demands a strong voice to be quite honest, so it actually fits.

I like Connect too. :XD:

About ClariS: they met as classmates at a music school where they both took lessons. They were signed because their label found their covers on NicoNicoDouga.

About cliche pop music, in ClariS' case: Clara and Alice are still middle school students. They have time to release innovative, darker music and seriously work on their voices later, should they choose to pursue singing careers when they are older. I imagine their priority right now is getting their feet in the door of the industry while focusing on their schoolwork, so IMO their songs (like Connect) are fine for now.

Well, not everyone does. Though it's the question of degree. I don't dislike Connect, but I've never been hooked on it either. As stated above, it's a standard anime OP fare, not even limited to the magical girl genre. It's hard to compare it to Magia which sounds not very usual even by Yuki standards. :tea:
 
@winter It's not like I'm blaming or hating on ClariS for deliberately holding back their latent talents and not releasing a huge epic of creativity that flows into your eardrums like a rushing spring stream of beauty and perfection, filling your soul with positivity and joy. I'm just saying that I don't like "Connect".

Middle school or high school or no; if a song sounds like that, I won't like it, considering I can listen to any song that sounds almost identical in the opening of any anime, really. Like Strike Witches. Which is amazing. But that is not the point.

It's got nothing to do with the situation that ClariS might or might not be in, and it's got nothing to do with who they are as people. I just don't like that specific song. Even if the genericness can be justified, it won't make me suddenly erupt into passionate adoration towards it, or make it any less cliche.

Does that make sense? :ayashii:
 
Well, I'd like to know if ClariS girls are really high school girls since it seems that they used to be niconico group singers (And their old blog photos didn't seem like high school girls)
 
^ I don't see why they would lie about their age, though. It's a pretty unnecessary thing to fake because we all get older.

Plus if they were caught, they'd lose credibility and receive negative publicity. Jurina looks much older than she actually is, so maybe that applies here too. :psst:

By the way, I'm not a ClarIS fan by any means. More like I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt this time. :XD:
 
^ Well, they were released before the actual OSTs, so the titles were just guesses. They probably should rename everything and rerelease it, so as to make things easier to understand :ayashii:

Also, I LOVE VGMDB :hearts:
