1. They have not specified what mastering technique was used for this (K2HD is JVC Music's technique, not SME's. You cannot, however, rule out Sony having a similar technique)

3. When you press play on the site for the samples, those are
NOT high resolution. Those are AAC-LC 320kbps (ie. lossy) and are not indicative of the actual quality of the product. The site FAQ indicates that if you wanna try a high resolution song sample, they have a song on the site (some other artist/song) which you can download for free to see what a high resolution song is like. There is no sampling the Kalafina songs in high resolution.
4. Probably restricted to Japan. So you'll have to jump through hoops to get these.
I think Sony is a pretty big proponent of high resolution music (releasing high resolution music capable players, etc) so perhaps they did the album justice and kept a high resolution master source... starting 6 years ago.
Also, Blue and Red ranked 1 and 2, respectively, on the store charts on opening.
Off topic:
In view of this, it is possible that the sample streams for the SeeSaw and FictionJunction albums were not high resolution either, by virtue of the streaming players not supporting high resolution playback, and a high resolution song probably being obscenely large in file size. It's probably not very economical to be streaming all that...
