Wow. Was there this much music in this show? I know there was some, I guess I was just so enveloped in everything. But it seems like there were more quiet times than not. I guess to build suspense. I wonder if Yuki will have an interview or something in it and maybe someone can translate if possible, if there is? I would love her take on it. Also ahhh I get it now with the episodes. *goes to watch*

Okay just watched. Wow. I have not read the manga, so this has kept me guessing the entire time. I did think of the whole coma thing. I loved the music in this episode, because I was noticing it more. And I loved that hesitation in the music at the beginning during the whole "Spider's Web" story where they cut to the guy falling. Things like that give me chills. I don't want this to end! I mean, they could really go into more detail for at least another 12 eps, maybe. That's what I think anyways.

Episode 12 [FINAL] http://anilinkz.tv/boku-dake-ga-inai-machi-episode-12

- new bgm ?
OP
(silence)
- new bgm with strings
- cello bgm (old i guess)
- theme bgm in piano and viola (old)
- cello bgm (slower ver)
- new part PV music
- almost full ED (half off-vocal)
- new bgm with metaphon

they kept the last part with the manga success
all the rest is original again.
they also kept the same end with Airi

So i think the whole plot change was so that they wont have to make 2 more episodes for that plot that was in the manga.

im really wondering what will keep Kajiura busy for the rest of the year. This has ended, SAO movie is next year, no news at all for Heaven's Feel, and Kalafina arent that busy but the spring season starts next week and its too late for a new anime song.

Yup, I'll be grabbing that. With no standalone release I have no qualms with pirating it.

only i am missing. I love the combo of blinging and strings - gives a fairytale vibe

show me your smile: even though short track the flute is soo sweet :dote:

discouraged: sfx with a bit of piano-like melody, at least its not plain noice.

it was a quiet day: the piano flute and quena track! : was quite happy and relaxing

the mystery begins: I love the blinging among the cello melody, whole track leave a very mysterious feeling.

deeply discouraged: Contrary to what I expected, its not similar to "discourages" (how weird). Slow sad piano and some madoka-esque sfx, which i guess give a positive touch.

i have to save her: main theme arrange #2.

the end is near at hand: surpisingly this is quite enjoyable. It is a melody you can concentrate to listen to, and relaxes at some times

carefree time: wow this is so much richer than i remember it. Reminds of camomile tea style-wise. It really has a very "carefree" atmosphere.

she was here alone: similar to "end is near" at first. It has an interesting mixture of happy and sad feeling.

she called her mother: I guess the title is [she called, HER ,"mother"] as in she called that bitch, mother. The track is pretty dark, beautiful cello play.

revival: its the Airi house fire music. Very interesting how the piano melody turns into strings melody. I LOVE the piano bridge that's between the strings.

reasoning: It played many times in that anime Glad its not sfx like i thought. accoustic piano is really nice

a taut state: One more creepy cello. knk-creepy but with pandora hearts SFX.

trapped into a corner: classic post knk type of track

a fugitive & an abuser: sfx time :( (and they are so long too!)

run away from here: wow a disco-like track without Kalafina. definetely didnt expect this. this is probably the best track in "freshness" category.

another mystery waiting: Director's favourite bgm for episode cliffhangers :XD:

run the race: was different track than what i was expecting. I think this is the track with the truck from ep 1.

Overall: this was a pretty atmospheric soundtrack that goes between overly happy, mysterious, sad, and creepy moments. I think 4-5 tracks after listening times will do stay in my memory, especially the main theme, which lends its melody to sore wa chiisana hikari no youna as well. It seems this series has 2 times. One for Satoru, and one for Kayo and each gets arranged a few times.
Cant wait for part #2.

It will be interesting to compare Yuki Kajiura's work, with the soundtrack for the live action movie that i posted about above, since they are about the exact same series and plot (and i think this has never happened before).

Not to get any hopes up, but I think this is kajiura's best anime ost since knk. The show seemed to suggest that this would be another sfx orgy, but there are only 2 shitty "noise" tracks while everything else has some kind of melody or progression that makes it a nice listen. The ost is definitely atmospheric, but there's enough actual music to be enjoyable as a standalone listen.

I'm so sad that the show's over. It was really good, both in terms of suspense and music.

Meanwhile, I'll also be listening through the OST off of Hikari no Akari, and I'll post my review once I am able to listen to it.

Hopefully another YK announcement will be made soon, whether with Kalafina or not. Since it seems that Kalafina isn't doing anything for the spring season, then I would guess that pretty much confirms they will do something for summer. Aside from the Shinji Tanimura collaboration, they haven't had any releases since FotW in Sept. If they don't do anything for summer, then that's an even bigger release gap then between KnGnN and heavenly blue...

As I get more and more intrigued by the anime's story, the music becomes more into the background for me, so I'm sorry if it was obvious and I completely forget where these tracks are played.

only I am missing:
Great first impression! The start made me think it was going to be just a pretty track to start it off but it get very heavy quickly with the masses of violins. I was kind of creeped out towards the end, can't tell if that's a good or bad thing.
show me your smile: Reminds me very much of the Madoka Magica sountrack. Nonetheless, very pretty. The flute reminded me of wind and it felt like it was blowing through my hair, if that makes any sense. I like to appreciate Kajiura's music in a more artistic way than technical.
discouraged: This track made me imagine a story, kind of similar to the anime. The character has been happy for a while, but they realise that something is wrong but is still hopeful about it, they are unaware of the storm looming over them, just waiting to strike. Very impactful track.
it was a quiet day: Loved the guitar. It was becoming my favourite so far until the flute came in. Once again, something unique is proven less great by the intrusion of casual Kajiura instruments. sigh
the mystery begins: Ohh, nice mysterious sfx and CELLO?! I LOVE THIS. I NEED THIS.
deeply discouraged: Calm tragedy kind of feeling, like a bittersweet happiness. I like it.
I have to save her: Casual dramatic track takes a more desperate turn near the end with it's violin melodies. Nice, but not the best.
the end is near at hand: The melody had a happy feel to me but the sfx made it feel like someone was watching me. Very mysterious.
carefree time: Interesting use of instruments. Reminds me of hanako to anne, so I like it. Really pretty.
she was here, alone: Pretty piano track
she called her mother: Very creepy cello track. Ah, I could listen to cello all day.
revival: Kakkoi dramatic track. I was just imagining Satoru's distressed face while staring at that blue butterfly the entire time.
reasoning: Mysterious sfx song. Cool.
a taut state: Cause goddamn, there can never be enough cello. This song gave off the feeling of hiding and slowing down.
trapped into a corner: The first thing I imagined was hiding when someone comes to find you. The inner turmoil you have and curiosity watching them. Then the shock and the eventual acceptance.
a fugitive: sfx. Certainly brings the atmosphere.
an abuser: This song had a "??????" feeling lol
runaway from here: The coolest track on the sountrack. Feels like taking control. Love that guitar melody.
another mystery waiting: Agreeing with George on this one, certainly used a lot. Cool nonetheless and has a reason to be used as a dramatic 'OMG WHATS GONNA HAPPEN' moment.
run the race: Those drums give me life. sugoi desu ne. didn't expect it as the last track of the soundtrack so far. Stands out a lot.

Overall, a very dramatic soundtrack, certainly gives mystery to the series. Looking forward to volume 2.

Sorry for the double post, but just watched the last episode. What a beautiful ending to a beautiful anime. Best this season.

Definitely the anime of the season. Even tho I prefer the ending in manga, the anime still managed to give a good alternative ending. I really like the ost, too.

Anyone already watched the live-action movie? I wonder if they followed the manga ending as well. XD

^ probably not, it stared screening on March 19 and you know that the movie DVDBDs take 6 months to release, so unless someone lives in japan or has access to bootleg, i doubt they will have seen it.

Also the anime DIDNT follow the manga ending. It was original ending with some bits same as the manga toward the end of ep 12.

I just watched all the episodes in one day :)
The music felt more subdued than her previous anime works but I guess this is more appropriate for the anime
