mhmh, i can't say either Live 2 or 4 is better ... both have their good and bad parts.

What I prefer about the "Live 4 DVD" is that as some have already mentioned, the girls have gotten used to performing live - their expressions look better (more emotions), their movements have improved (maybe only a bit, but still) and they simply seem more at ease talking on stage, so you can get to hear some funny and interesting stories about them. More than on the first DVD where it was almost only Yuki doing the talking ^^ The stylists seem to have improved also, their clothes and styling in general looks better than on the first DVD.

Still they could also need some dancing lessons. Especially Keiko and Kaori seem to like to move and dance a lot, but sometimes it looks very messy ^^;; Wakana and Yuriko are a lot calmer and don't move so much. Still a bit more coordination wouldn't harm their on stage performance and make everything look more professional. For now it mostly looks like every one of them just moves like she wants and ... yea, looks quite messy and weird at times (but on the first DVD this was even worse xD )

Concerning the songs and the singing, I felt that this new DVD was less impressive than the first. I like all those songs a lot, but I suppose live other songs like Mezame or A Song of Storm and Fire really work better and are easier for showing off their singing ability ^^ Somebody said "too many slow songs" ... I suppose I would agree. Here I actually prefer the FictionJunction Yuuka live because its' set list much better ^^

And I agree that Yuriko really didn't sound at her best during "her song", while she sounded fine during the others (Everlasting song, background for Yuuka etc.). Really weird.

I totally agree about the setlists for the two parts:

Yuuka's consisted of a good balance of slower/calmer songs and faster ones, and they transitioned into each other perfectly. It wasn't slow for too long of a time, nor fast... I don't know, it just... worked.

For the second part, there wasn't that balance that the first part had. The beginning was supposed to be a slower intro, like "circus," but it was still a lot slower than "circus," so it was like... eh. And then they tried to make it upbeat with "here we stand," (which WAS good) but it definitely didn't have as much energy as the recorded version does. "Gin no hashi" was okay, but it made me think that Kalafina was performing instead of FJ. :uh..:
And then then we got to "Hanamori no Oka," which is a beautiful song, but I actually wound up skipping ahead after two minutes :uh..: . "Houseki" was a little better, and then things definitely picked up with "synchronicity" (which was absolutely wonderful), but then we got "mizu no akashi" AND "michiyuki" back-to-back, which just made me lose interest again.
What I really didn't like next was how we had "mezame," "salva nos," "zodiacal sign," and "parallel hearts" back-to-back as well; I almost couldn't handle the REALLY abrupt change in pace from piano ballads to these much more rock-ish songs. The performances were fine, but it was like they were just trying to get in as many fast songs as they possibly could.
"Everlasting song" and "yume no tsubasa" were good performances as well, but they're just so easily to get tired of. :uh..: .
"Angel gate" sounded fine, and I didn't mind that Yuuka dominated it since it's her song... but then Kaori was randomly thrown in there to sing a verse, which made no sense to me. They should have either JUST let Yuuka sing it, or let EVERYONE get a verse; don't single one out (especially after how tired I got of Kaori).

The performances were FINE. They just didn't blend together as well as they could have.

OK, here's my 2 cents.

+ Yuriko (and the rest too, I guess) seems to feel much more comfortable on stage than during VOL2.
+ here we stand in the morning dew.
- Weak setlist. I was bored to tears. Old tracks in exact same arrangements.
- Everything felt so artificial/sterile to me for reasons described below:
- Extensive playback for some instrumentals and vocals (example: Hoshikuzu -_- why Wakana even bothered opening her mouth there I don't even...).
- Audio and/or video editing which made me think the girls were either lipsyncing the live or did some heavy post-recording in studio for the DVD (example: Keiko near the end of morning dew, Kaori right before the first Parallel Hearts chorus). It doesn't really matter if they did or not, but I don't think a live DVD should be making me think about such things while watching. I don't recall any such moment during VOL2 DVD.
- No atmosphere. Is it me or were the lights about the same all the time? Or perhaps the girls were too far from eachother and there was too much free space in my view? Or I got spoilt by that damn Kalafina Premium Live. If Kalafina is to have a full LIVE DVD, I hope it's from a small venue like that Premium Live so they can interact with the audience.

That's about it.

I also must admit that the setlist was not perfect and there was no balance between "slow" and "fast" songs. Perhaps it was it that made me feel bored and because of it I didn't really like this live.
I totally agree with mi_feng and grunty :uh..:

I have to admit. Everything after that was same old, same old.

Even Hanamori no Oka , Gin no Hashi ?

btw mezame is in my own "same old" list

Parallel Hearts was good enough since they performed it like in the cd recording.

You were probably tired of Angel gate because it was in Yuuka's DVD too...

Well I liked Hanamori no Oka, b/c i just love kaori like that. But about Parallel hearts, pretty much. It didn't' have spice.

And I was already tired of Angel Gate when I saw the one in YUUKA's live xD I just didn't FEEL it.

seconded. Grunty's opinion match my opinion.
except I replace Here we stand in the morning dew with Mizu no Akashi :plot:

Mine arrived yesterday :sohappy:

It was great...except for a few things....

Yuriko was adorable...lol and before mezame she had a double chin :XD:
She amazed me though and I thought it was so cute when she arrived on stage for morning dew.

Kaori...needs dancing lessons...there were some moves that I thought were awesome...but most of the time she looked confused.

If Hoshikuzu is the first song Wakana totally lipsynced...such a disappointment. Her mouth movements were so fake..I was like those background vocals sound tough especially for the first piece. She seemed way too comfortable hitting those fake notes.

And...Yuki's mole was kinda scary in some scenes...the light really made it stand out...it scared me at times :uh..:
