I totally agree about the setlists for the two parts:
Yuuka's consisted of a good balance of slower/calmer songs and faster ones, and they transitioned into each other perfectly. It wasn't slow for too long of a time, nor fast... I don't know, it just... worked.
For the second part, there wasn't that balance that the first part had. The beginning was supposed to be a slower intro, like "circus," but it was still a lot slower than "circus," so it was like... eh. And then they tried to make it upbeat with "here we stand," (which WAS good) but it definitely didn't have as much energy as the recorded version does. "Gin no hashi" was okay, but it made me think that Kalafina was performing instead of FJ.
And then then we got to "Hanamori no Oka," which is a beautiful song, but I actually wound up skipping ahead after two minutes
. "Houseki" was a little better, and then things definitely picked up with "synchronicity" (which was absolutely wonderful), but then we got "mizu no akashi" AND "michiyuki" back-to-back, which just made me lose interest again.
What I really didn't like next was how we had "mezame," "salva nos," "zodiacal sign," and "parallel hearts" back-to-back as well; I almost couldn't handle the REALLY abrupt change in pace from piano ballads to these much more rock-ish songs. The performances were fine, but it was like they were just trying to get in as many fast songs as they possibly could.
"Everlasting song" and "yume no tsubasa" were good performances as well, but they're just so easily to get tired of.
.
"Angel gate" sounded fine, and I didn't mind that Yuuka dominated it since it's
her song... but then Kaori was randomly thrown in there to sing a verse, which made no sense to me. They should have either JUST let Yuuka sing it, or let EVERYONE get a verse; don't single one out (especially after how tired I got of Kaori).
The performances were FINE. They just didn't blend together as well as they could have.
