So it's iced latte.....Wakana Chan... :glower: (ok...she'd better stop drinking it..... :uh..: )

Actually none of the girls pay attention to the food they ate and how it can affect their voice.

Wakana and her latte, Keiko and her ice cream; Hikaru and her junk food.

:omg: Is latte and ice cream really that bad for your voice? And I didn't know Hiichan ate junk food lol...I though Keiko was the sweet tooth?

Well...at least none of them smoke...or take drugs... :uh..: and at least Kei-kun doesn't drink :goodjob:

^My impression from Animelo Summer Live and some other concert footage is that for most singers, they have to be really fit and healthy.

Perhaps the Japanese culture has a lower tolerance of alcohol and drug abuse by people such as singers than the west?

^ You might be right about alcohol and drugs, but I do know of several Japanese singers who smoke. A lot of Visual Kei band singers do, and at least two singers who've been active since the mid-80s...but then again, that's understandable since Japan still seems to be hanging onto smoking in general.

For all we know, one or two members of Kala might smoke. Hopefully they don't. :uh..:

My favorite singer (Tsukiko Amano) smokes. Maybe that's why she's so bad live?
Has Wakana been smoking lately?

As far as I know, cold food isn't really good for your throat, and it makes your voice a bit raspy. I remember when I have to sing for Christmas church choir, our trainer prohibited us to eat/drink cold foods for a month before the church choir.

Hikaru loves Junk Food. She even took lot of photos of her junk food in blog.

@niney : How do you make an assumption of Kala member's smoking? Is that by looking at their lips/teeth? Because the easiest way to see a person smokes or not is by seeing her lips/teeth if you couldn't smell their breath. Who are between the girls that you think smoking? Wakana and Hikaru or Wakana and Keiko? Although I kinda hard imagining Keiko smokes, because she's a sport addict and have a quite healthy lifestyle...And I'm too hard on judging Wakana smoked because her voice changed.. :uh..:

I hope they don't smoke :uh..:
and Yuki too T______T she was smoking in the MBS 2003 interview.... i really hope she quit now

I'm not making an assumption per se - I'm just thinking that it could be possible, since a lot of people in Japan still smoke, other singers included. There's really no way for me to accurately tell by looking at them.

If I were to choose, I might pick Wakana because she's been looking extremely tired lately compared to Hikaru or Keiko...but that's not an accurate way of judging either, since I've seen some smokers who look fine and others who look exhausted and a bit sickly. That all depends on how much they smoke, I think.

But like I said, I'm just guessing. They could all be non-smokers, for all I know. Kajiura-sensei might require all her singers to be non-smokers, in order to preserve their voices :ayashii:

I was wondering about the same thing myself, would want to know more about the vocal ranges of her and her singers. I am having my singing lessons right now and would like to know since i would wanna try if i could reach the same voice range as her, i am a big fan!

Oh, I see. Although I agree and I hope that Kajiura might require all her singers to be non - smokers, I'm not really sure. Seeing Kajiura was a smoker herself, and she doesn't really pay attention to the foods her singers ate that can affect their voice as well. What's the use of prohitibing your singers to be non smokers in order to preserve their voice while the singers themselves still eat foods that can affect/ruin their voice?

Yuki herself sings in her tracks and in some lives. IMO it would be hypocritical of her to require her singers not to smoke, IF she's still doing it.

^+1

They should pay attention on what they eat as well, seriously..

The long list of food that are prohibitted when I was in a choir: cold drink, soft drink, sour drink (ex. lemonade, orange juice, etc.), all deep-fried food (surely that some junk food like french fries and fried chicken are included), all kinds of beans and nuts, and spicy food. (But it applies only a few week before the performance. After the perf. ends, we're like "Yeah..!!! now I can eat..blah blah blah.." lol.)

However, I guess that Japanese singers don't pay much attention on quitting smoking for their voices...and their singing skill (of those who are smokers) lose quite fast when they're older... :uh..:

but Kajiura herself is mostly not the main vocalist, she only do backround chorus in studio recording. And also, she is THE BOSS, LOL

So i think she still can told her vocalists to not smoking.

And i do think some singer that have higher probability to smoke, or in other word the more likely to smoke are the Rock/Metal/Punk/or those hard rock band ppl. They are different with a vocal group such as Kalafina

:XD:

^
I don't think so. In nowadays world, smoking artist isn't always a rock/metal/punk singer/artist. Like KP-X said, even Tsukiko Amano smoke. Even the cutest girl you can see is sometime a smoker too.

Especially in Japan, smoking is like one of a habit and a part of their lifestyle.

Now I listen to their live without seeing it, Wakana's voice now does have a smoker quality voice, a bit raspy and not smooth as it used to be, especially in falsetto. Although I wish that her voice just strained out, and not because of her smoking :omg:
