Vocal Discussion of Yuki's Singers

I also don't understand why Westerns don't have singers with vibrato, but that doesn't mean they don't exist. Anyway I think Keiko is WAY BETTER than Adele. Her voice is deep, loud and vibrates (like in Nohara and Hoshikuzu), whereas Adele's sounds scratchy.

I also think scratchy voice are worse than nasal voice singers like Yuuka. I don't really like nasal voice because I prefer matured voices like Wakana and Keiko's but Yuuka really amazed me because her voice gives me the vision of a clear and calm water that produces ripples when touched like when she sing in "silent moon". Her voice is very clear and vibrates in the air.
:plz:

@Kowz: Hmm, you have a point...I'm just not sure if Eri's voice is powerful enough to produce that special enka tone :ayashii:

@Cerise: Your descriptions are always spot-on~ :goodjob:

Mm well i only listened to a few enka songs, and they didn't sound that hard. Could you give me some examples?

Hey, guys, what about the Wakana issue? :ayashii:

To be honest, I'm scared of writing because 1) we could get ignored 2) we could get a negative reaction from whoever we write to (if they sue us or something) if we don't make the letter clear and sensitive enough. :uh..:

I just hope to the heavens above that in the next live video we see of them, Wakana will look/sound more like her old self. :TdT: Is the vegetable juice a good sign? :touched: I wish it was...either way, she seems to be acting cheerful/optimistic...

I was just listening to some songs from Red Moon and I think I can pick out a difference between her voice there and in After Eden - it's lost some of it's old full-sounding tone so her voice sounds thinner, less vibrant, less powerful and more scratchy. In other words, she sounds like an almost "watered down" version of former times. Wakana's voice used to have a sort of richness akin to Keiko's which rounded out her voice so that it didn't sound sharp even though her voice is high-pitched but now that her voice has sort of "thinned-out", it doesn't have that depth anymore so it sounds weaker and sharper.

It sounds a very much like it's just fatigue though, since voices in general (singing or speaking) just seem to go thinner when you're tired. So I think in the end Wakana's main problem is that she's tired and she's singing more than her throat is used to/can sustain, since back in the FJ days and when Kala wasn't as popular and they performed less, she seemed to cope fine. Of course, that flu probably made things worse. But I'm optimistic that it's not something like vocal nodules (dear god reading the wikipedia article had me imagining all sorts of things), it's just general tiredness and overexertion. Wakana’s stamina was never particularly good in the first place compared to the likes of Keiko, who can continue singing seemingly FOREVER (this is probably just me, but I swear her breathing is the loudest and most noticeable, so I tend to think her lung capacity isn’t as good…or maybe she just needs to work on breathing technique? I dunno…).

The overall general tiredness coupled on top of normal weariness she would get after singing a certain number of songs probably snowballed the effect so that she started to struggle earlier in the concert than she normally would’ve, and that general tiredness has probably slowed down her recovery speed so she wasn’t able to really pull back fully like she used to be able to during the MC/costume breaks as well.

Plus I swear she’s lost weight. Wakana used to be the plumpest one, but now she’s almost thinner than Hikaru :ghost: She’s still beautiful but…her arms were quite thin in After Eden! They were still amazing arms that I’d be so jealous of having, but they were thinner than I remember! They used to be rounder and less bony

Eat more, Wakana! Keep your energy levels up! :goodjob: :touched:

(she has goddamn amazing collar bones, though. I’d kill to have collarbones like that :shy: :TdT:)

/apologises for going slightly off-topic… :uh..: :desksweat:  :ohoho: :blood: :imdead:

:ohoho: From what I have heard, Wakana does love to eat. Geee, so jealous if that really is the case :uh..:
Anyway, it's true that she lost weight and voice but.... She's an adult woman and I think we shouldn't patronize her.
Well, I agree that it's a bad thing if she pushes herself too much and takes the risk of damaging her voice. It would break my heart as a fan if Wakana couldn't sing anymore. But seriously, Wakana isn't stupid and probably noticed it herself- she isn't alone, and there are people around her who know her better than we do. Let's have faith in Yuki. I'm sure she talked with Wakana about that. It's not like she's the only one with that problems. Many singers get sick while on tour and don't know what to do, if they cancel the show because of sickness they might get bad feedback, probably the main reason why they usually don't do so.... on the other hand they take the risk of damaging their voices and even loose it forever. Which is the worst case for the artists themselves and their fans. Then again, it's not very easy to make a decision.
Let's hope she's taking care of herself and gets better soon.
However, please don't judge her OK?

Okay, I won't judge her. Wakana's arm seems thin in "to the beginning" album cover. Yeah, I remember she used to be quite plump. But since "Red Moon", I noticed she starting to become thin.

I agree with you!! We'll see that she'll return at top form ^^

As for the Wakana letter issue, perhaps we should wait until the next live concert or album release just to see if Wakana's condition improve. If not then we'll proceed in writing the letter. I have a feeling that writing to Yuki now that she have to cope with Wakana's condition as well as her career will stressed her out more. :uh..: On second thought, Yuki may be touched when she received out letter that expresses our concern. :innocent:

Yep , You're right *______________* I agree with you!!!

Well first of all, we don't really know what happened to Wakana. Probably it's an infection, it could also be a chronic disease that gets worse when people have too much stress (plz no panic, not all chronic diseases are fatal)
Matters like this should be dealt with care.

Exaclty!! we don't really know!

That's what I mean, It's good to have an eye on those things but we as fans should really not stick our noses too deep into private matters. It might be something Wakana doesn't like to tell us and it is her right to decide so.

aye aye..it should be a thing like this!

Plz don't get me wrong. I love her too. And it's indeed not nice to see her suffering.

No problem , no problem ^^ As I said before , I think it was a period of stress for her , that was added to the throat problems!
You'll see that sooner she'll return to the best form!! *______*

Personally, I still think that the situation isn't black and white. It doesn't seem like simply a matter of "Wakana can consult with her management/Sony people/Kajiura-sensei and fix things". Her management might be loathe to let her take a break; Sony might feel the same for monetary reasons; and Kajiura-sensei might not have the influence to affect the former two decisions.

This is my position on the whole situation:

1. The problem, whatever it is, has gone on long enough to make me believe that it's either a long-lasting illness or something chronic, due to Kala/FJ's large amount of recent performances.

2. There are many different facets to the situation, which - while I do trust the management to a certain extent - makes me suspect that something might be preventing any action from being taken.

3. Therefore, I believe that we should express our concerns, in Japanese for ease of understanding, to Kajiura-sensei for starters. As long as we make it clear that criticism isn't our intention, we probably shouldn't be misunderstood.

4. However, I agree that, before sending any emails out, we should wait until the next live performance is released. If Wakana seems to have improved drastically, then I agree that no action should be taken.
