I am listening to it now! Thanks so much! (With headphones since my niece is sleeping.)

Desolate Landscape is nice, it's calming, but has that creepy feel, like in Madoka. It is a little repetitive, but I like the piano.

Tonky: Really cool! It's eclectic, and different for Yuki I think. I remember this song in the show. I thought it was weird at first, but listening to the whole thing is really nice.

in this place: really cool. Reminds me of "a bleak and desolate land" from the 1st ost. I like tracks like this. It also reminds me of the Insurgent soundtrack.

Frejya: I like the harp sounds. Reminds me of one of the slow Zelda songs, like the faerie one. Really nice and calming.

Urd: A very creepy and chilling song. Not much to it, but it's simple and I like it that it's so chilling. I really like the piano in it. It's kind of a European type song, I think of the temples in India and I am feeling like I am in one of those temples, or in the market place.

in another landscape: Is nice, another version of swordland. But it has more of a battle/Gladiator feel to it. I love the strings.

The appearance of Thrymr: Just a very creepy strings song, which I enjoy, since I love strings (the violin) personally. The end of it is interesting.

defeat him and get it!: I thought this would be different, it's just a faster version of the above song. The added flute is nice. Sounds Egyptian. I like the chimes as well. It ends a little better too.

in the battle field, once again: I like it. The guitar is interesting, The strings add to it, but really it's the guitar that's the main point I would think.

fly away from here!: Makes me feel I am on a magic carpet. It's really the only happy song so far on this ost. heh The end reminds of the Stargate soundtrack. hehe

a sad quarrel: I don't really enjoy some of Yuki's cello songs, but this is okay.

you are not alone #2: I wonder why Yuki decides to number them so weirdly? Like it goes 2, 1, 3. But anyways, it's Yuuki's theme, right? I like it. This version reminds me of Kenshin.

light your sword: Yes! Love it! I loved it in the show, and I love Luminous Sword too. I think it's a great song, and this version is nice, with the flute.

heartbreaking reality: This made me almost cry, since I remember it from the show. Very sad.

you are not alone: I like this version too. The piano is nice, like George said. It's very heartwarming and melancholy at the same time. Darn, Yuki knows how to do that so well. (Heh Yuuki, Yuki)

tears for you: One of the more cello songs I like. It's a nice song.

school days, with you: Another version of the above song. It's nice and calming. (Reminds me of a little of school days from the .Hack/Liminality ost.

yana(haha the abbreviation came out funny) #3: I don't really like this one. It does remind me a bit of HtA, but it's not as heartwarming as the other two.

trying to understand: So sad. But a good way to end the album.

Overall I think I liked the first half of the ost a lot, it's more of the battle songs, and then the 2nd half are the slower songs.
I think there are standout songs like: Luminous Sword, March Down, the first town, a narrow escape, he rules us, she is still sleeping (one of my favorite songs ever by Yuki), climbing up the world tree, aerial fight, false king, she has to overcome her fear, a bleak and desolate land (another fave), desolate landscape (fave), light your sword, and you are not alone 1 and 2. Those are my favorites from this series. Overall though it’s not her best work. I would say Tsubasa is one of the best, and Madlax. Swordland was used too much, but that was the director’s fault, which even they cut off the first town’s vocal part from the show for awhile. (I think it was played later with the vocal.) But yeah, I wish for that other REMI track too, since I do like it a lot. But this ost by itself I would give a 7 out of 10. Since it has some really great songs in the beginning, and then some kind of slower ones, which I like still, since I do love classical music. And I love Yuki. Heh (But there are some that I dislike, please note.)

I hope she does do an anime again soon, or maybe an anime movie, that would be interesting. I did like SAO, so now I am going to read the manga and books. That is my review, later!

Edit: George: Madoka does have those extra stories now coming out in Manga form in the US. So who knows, maybe?

I don't think I've posted my remarks on the OST, I know I did on the anime many many pages back but apologies if I did comment on the OST already. I'm sad to say I found the OST very dull and just not that interesting. I think this is a problem with Sony produced OSTs there's always a few dozen tracks and they end up being so short they just never amount to anything interesting.

The only piece I can say I like is Swordland which is the most Kajiuran sounding thanks to it's choral inserts and very strong brass and string arrangement. This OST was a pretty sizable letdown actually then again so was the anime for me period.
If an OST is a letdown it's pretty sad because I go for the OSTs 99% of the time and very rarely go for singles and albums of just FJ or Kalafina.

I too noticed its only a few notes, but this doesnt stop me from liking it. HtA indeed has some nice piano/strings tracks, but I was mainly comparing with tracks from other anime OSTs she has done.

If they continue this with Kajiura or not, is not for us to decide, though. I personally would prefer if:

- ufotable picks her for Heaven's Feel
- They continue Pandora Hearts and hire Kajiura for it again, as the mangaka promised in that interview (he nearly confessed to her :psst: )
- She chooses to compose for some PS3/4 videogame or new interesting anime, since Madoka and SAO will probably be a long time until they continue

Oh that was really adorable, I still have yet to finish PandoraHearts but it's one of my favorite OSTs so I best not read beyond the first section. By the sound of it Kajiura herself was already a fan of the manga so makes me wonder if she lobbied herself to join the project. Frankly I want Kajiura to do another anime outside the Aniplex/Sony Realm.

^Already started, but yeah, it's been pretty much the same so far, except with some details changed (can't remember off the top of my head) but I'd like to read it though, since I normally do that with series, or the other way around. heh But thanks for the warning? I will proceed with caution.

@aki: but isnt Jun a boy name ?

@Liana: No its not the same, in the anime all the battles are reduced in duration (thus the weird use of battle BGMs), and they also skipped the part where they met Tonky, which Kirito briefed in 1 minute in the start of calibur. But other than that its indeed loyal to the story.

Oh okay.

And just saw on my iTunes when it popped up that there is an Urd by Shirou Hamaguchi in the Ah! My Goddess ost 1. heh Just pointing it out there.

Of course there would be since both are out of the norse mythology. While looking at the titles I was wondering while there wasnt a Belldandy there :XD:

I just listened to it and I'm sure y'all are going to look at me like I'm crazy... Maybe it's because of zero expectations or me not listening to any Kajiura in a good while, I actually thought this was the most enjoyable CD from all of SAO, lol.

I don't know, I just listened to the whole CD and enjoyed it without looking at the tracklist. I only remember not liking that swordland arrangement. DIdn't care for luminous sword either, I guess.

Vol 9 of BD/DVD has nice cover

And comes with a new SAO novel "Sword Art Online Sisters'Prayer" of 120 pages ?
(did Alicisation finally finished ?)

^It looks like something from K-On! lol I did like that series, it just reminded me of it, or Azumanga Daioh. And yay for Grunty liking the soundtrack! I liked the album as well. I actually really enjoyed the 1st two osts, but not GGO so much, except for 'a bleak and desolate land' and 'she has to overcome her fear' which are awesome.

^ Lol that guy is so evil. They are other far more ecchi anime out there ( i talk about ones with battles), why is he focusing on that aspect so much ?

Apparently, Kajiura suddenly noticed (while preparing for Live), after TWO YEARS that SAO OST 2 (fairyland) was burned on the CDs with wrong pitch, so they are going to re-print it and replace it for the people who bought it! (better late than never but WTF!!! :blood::stupidtable::stupidbox:

It seems people who bought it will have to mail the product back to Sony so they can get the "correct" copy, or something like that.

thank to yuki.n for the tip.

Why they didn't release the kajiurago songs which we heard in the anime (the last episodes of the second second) in SAO II ost 2 ? :comeback:

That, I dont know. They still had alot of disc space too.

sent 3 twits to YK just now... about that track (SAO M15 moon and shadow) . who knows if they reprint the OST they might be able to sneak in that track :D

It's so bad :/ because I think it was the best tracks for the ost and I was excepting them so much. I hope they will released one day.

Thank you :touched: I hope so.
