I have reached Yuki nirvana
I am listening to it now! Thanks so much! (With headphones since my niece is sleeping.)
Desolate Landscape is nice, it's calming, but has that creepy feel, like in Madoka. It is a little repetitive, but I like the piano.
Tonky: Really cool! It's eclectic, and different for Yuki I think. I remember this song in the show. I thought it was weird at first, but listening to the whole thing is really nice.
in this place: really cool. Reminds me of "a bleak and desolate land" from the 1st ost. I like tracks like this. It also reminds me of the Insurgent soundtrack.
Frejya: I like the harp sounds. Reminds me of one of the slow Zelda songs, like the faerie one. Really nice and calming.
Urd: A very creepy and chilling song. Not much to it, but it's simple and I like it that it's so chilling. I really like the piano in it. It's kind of a European type song, I think of the temples in India and I am feeling like I am in one of those temples, or in the market place.
in another landscape: Is nice, another version of swordland. But it has more of a battle/Gladiator feel to it. I love the strings.
The appearance of Thrymr: Just a very creepy strings song, which I enjoy, since I love strings (the violin) personally. The end of it is interesting.
defeat him and get it!: I thought this would be different, it's just a faster version of the above song. The added flute is nice. Sounds Egyptian. I like the chimes as well. It ends a little better too.
in the battle field, once again: I like it. The guitar is interesting, The strings add to it, but really it's the guitar that's the main point I would think.
fly away from here!: Makes me feel I am on a magic carpet. It's really the only happy song so far on this ost. heh The end reminds of the Stargate soundtrack. hehe
a sad quarrel: I don't really enjoy some of Yuki's cello songs, but this is okay.
you are not alone #2: I wonder why Yuki decides to number them so weirdly? Like it goes 2, 1, 3. But anyways, it's Yuuki's theme, right? I like it. This version reminds me of Kenshin.
light your sword: Yes! Love it! I loved it in the show, and I love Luminous Sword too. I think it's a great song, and this version is nice, with the flute.
heartbreaking reality: This made me almost cry, since I remember it from the show. Very sad.
you are not alone: I like this version too. The piano is nice, like George said. It's very heartwarming and melancholy at the same time. Darn, Yuki knows how to do that so well. (Heh Yuuki, Yuki)
tears for you: One of the more cello songs I like. It's a nice song.
school days, with you: Another version of the above song. It's nice and calming. (Reminds me of a little of school days from the .Hack/Liminality ost.
yana(haha the abbreviation came out funny) #3: I don't really like this one. It does remind me a bit of HtA, but it's not as heartwarming as the other two.
trying to understand: So sad. But a good way to end the album.
Overall I think I liked the first half of the ost a lot, it's more of the battle songs, and then the 2nd half are the slower songs. I think there are standout songs like: Luminous Sword, March Down, the first town, a narrow escape, he rules us, she is still sleeping (one of my favorite songs ever by Yuki), climbing up the world tree, aerial fight, false king, she has to overcome her fear, a bleak and desolate land (another fave), desolate landscape (fave), light your sword, and you are not alone 1 and 2. Those are my favorites from this series. Overall though it’s not her best work. I would say Tsubasa is one of the best, and Madlax. Swordland was used too much, but that was the director’s fault, which even they cut off the first town’s vocal part from the show for awhile. (I think it was played later with the vocal.) But yeah, I wish for that other REMI track too, since I do like it a lot. But this ost by itself I would give a 7 out of 10. Since it has some really great songs in the beginning, and then some kind of slower ones, which I like still, since I do love classical music. And I love Yuki. Heh (But there are some that I dislike, please note.)
I hope she does do an anime again soon, or maybe an anime movie, that would be interesting. I did like SAO, so now I am going to read the manga and books. That is my review, later!
Edit: George: Madoka does have those extra stories now coming out in Manga form in the US. So who knows, maybe?
