New Vocal tracks so far:
to the fierce battle,
we ll finish this game (this seems to be the swordland x luminus sword track)

Progressive mixes: just a few more sfxs added and i think instruments are a bit slowed down ? 😴

Tracks of first half seem so boring. Hope the ones without samples have some surprises.

At least it has more efford than Ordinal Scale.

I ordered and will eventually receive the OST (shipped by CD Japan on 27th October, reached the travel agent in Tokyo today, on the morning of 28th October 2022).

Both Progressive and Orchestra available on digital in Japan.
I presume also worldwide, wherever there's the 29th already. But maybe not since there's no hirez version on mora or ototoy yet...

Listening to samples of the orchestra, there are some tracks which sound OK?
In some tracks my issues with the sound are more annoying than in others. Like in "a sword of bravery" the first part sounds surefine to me but then as soon as it gets to the more active part I'm rolling my eyes... Or maybe it's just the lack of synths...
Remi sounds way better with all this reverb compared to that bilibili quality, lulz.

Now I kinda wanna buy it again. I sure am flipflopping on this release, lol.

ok the orchestra. yes there is definitely something strange. I don't think it's recording or studio issues. It's the orchestra itself, I remember this problem when I viewed it live also.

I don't know what it is exactly but it doesn't have the smooth sound of a decent symphonic orchestra strings. nor does it have an elegant sound of Kawai live strings for example. I think it is more about the strings than anything else. it feels as if it misses a layer of sound like a lack of viola or something...

this I detect very strongly tsk.. @grunty .
THAT IS WHY SOMEONE WITH ORCHESTRA EXPERIENCE SHOULD HAVE DONE THIS DAMMIT THEY MESSED UP SOMETHING !!!!!!!

interested on those synth and rpg-style tracks(counting down, please enter your name-repetitive but w/e, together we go further, just chilling out, to the fierce battlefield-4mins so it will either go downhill or got interesting parts so i'm looking forward)
emotional/battle/environment ost is fine....i mean it will probably do it's job but no expectations lol
progressive mix are those tracks that will annoy me cause even if no indication ~mix on tracklist before she will make a rendition of the original it so what's the point?

Yea, something is definitely off on some tracks.

On the flipside, "at our parting" sounds very pretty. ^_^

Oh god "false king". I completely forgot about that fucking tambourine...

i actually liked the samples (progressive ost) overall. looking forward to the full thing. it's definitely not the disaster that was ordinal scale.

oooh to the fierce battlefield is four minutes long :o

"fight in the OS" from the concert sounds like someone who ate too much beans lol I think that overall whats missing is that strings are way too much toned down. They totally skipped that part of the soundtrack with the norse mythology stuff lol i d love the tonky track to be among the performed tracks, surprised they included 4 tracks from Ordinal Scale while GGO had alot more interesting musics to choose from.

It does seem to be available internationally digitally.
Bizzare hard transitions in some of those tracks...

No hirez that I can see tho. :|

Just sum higlight random thoughts:
01. counting down: untzuntz venari strigas is cute but swordland is pretty eh.
10. please enter your name, I could swear this was in some other Kajiura... or maybe it's on the original SAO OST...? would have to go back and listen. Or maybe I just heard it in one of the trailers and it stayed with me, lol.
14. walking around together, yes, cute. first short track one can listen on its own, lol.
18. I know you are my friend, like 14.
20, 23. together we go further, yes. put them together and you might have a decentish standalone track.
21. terrible trap, I think this was in 7rules rather than death game.
22. I'm not putting you in danger, yes, cute.
24. driven to the wall, TBH this is all over the place, 4+ tracks mixed into one. Starts with the Rail Zeppelin, didn't care. Then Heaven's Feel/SAO strings&drums&choirs, didn't care. Then Remi comes back and I thought - yes, we actually might have a track! But then it moved back to strings&choir city and I was like... eh...
29. she had to decide, holy shit the sound of this track feels so nostalgic.
39. to the fierce battlefield, nothing really gells together for me. the melodies and harmonies feel odd/empty. a mix of tracks again, and the transitions between each section are pretty hard.
41. together we could go further, another take on 20&23. maybe could be meshed with those for a long track... but different key.

Yea... meh.
Some cool sounding stuff but short tracks are definitely short and not much of standalones. The long action tracks are mishmashes of pieces that don't really go together, while the dull ending medley just doesn't want to end...
You could probably just cut this CD down to under 15 minutes for your listening pleasure, lol. It's definitely not another Alicization. Speaking of that - Alicization made me appreciate swordland with how it was incorporated into new tracks but I'm definitely back to hating it again here. Aincrad clearly isn't for this grunty.

Plz. No. Mo. New. SAO.
Thank you.

PS. Sony/Aniplex, please release Alicization Music Collection. ^_^

Interesting part from MS translate of the interview

At the end of the title, there are five songs with "~progressive mix" in the first half of the soundtrack board.

Kajiura: These are the same songs as the TV series. In the case of the TV series, it is a stereo mix, but this time it is a movie, so it means that we made a new 5.1ch mix. The song arrangement of the TV series has changed the title, but it is these five songs that changed only the mix as it really is. In addition, this time, let's use the theme of Asuna a lot.

Apparently they tricked the customers lol

I mean... it's not really a conspiracy... if it's in the movie, then it might as well be on the OST CD, especially if it's not taking space of anything else...

Yea but i dont remember any word like "hey we just remixed some season 1 bgms in 5.1ch for the movie, so half of the soundtrack is same old, so be warned." by saying nothing they made us think it had some sort of rearrangement.

They're literally called "progressive mix", not "version" or "arrange". Would it be nice if they were something more? Yes. Is it particularly surprising that that they're not? Not really?

Also "half the soundtrack", those 5 tracks are under 10minutes on a 70min soundtrack for a movie (in which they were featured, I presume).

IMHO there's more "reason" to be angry/disappointed that Kajiura didn't do anything with that middle section of Remi in "driven to the wall" cause that had the potential to be epic. Alas, it's just some 10seconds played in two different keys.

It should be on itunes everywhere or whatever digital store you have in your region. Qobuz for cd quality, too. Not sure if it was released to "free" streaming platforms.

Rip wise it's on bili if you can tolerate the quality.

zzzzzz boring :(

I'm liking together we go further... might as well be in Fena. nice but too short and simple.

to the fierce battlefield... what a sicko weird track (in a bad way). i was realllly liking the flute section when swordland came in and ruined it. and the latter parts are like ummm this is an awful mix. the same for counting down, really like the beginning and the sworldland came whhhyy. if you use the same notes every time it reduces the impact of the original i.e. swordland :( tsk
