Oh wow I completely forgot about that image I think it will take a long time before I stop finding reasons to think that the people behind the show are sneakier than I originally thought
Sayaya didn't become a witch at all but she used all her energy. the wish affected to past present and future of every parallel world that can exist. Even timeline 5.
by the way I loved the ending the Walpurgis song is quite gorgeous and the animation was quite well done (they had time after all)
I have to say I liked the whole series as the ending. I don't mind other opinions. Everybody can has it own opinion haters or lovers.
but despair should not more exist in this world.
I want an artbook with the magical girl design even the old ones of the shadow image at the end.

There were like 5 new BGMs. Pretty grand Kasahara track for Walpurgis Night in Ep11, rather big (and boring) Madoka is Jesus BGM for Ep12. The rest was small, including one piano variation of another BGM.
Of course they played the Eri track in both episodes... Thanks SHAFT/Kajiura.
This time I absolutely agree with Grunty's comment...lol.. Yuri's track is so awesome and the 'Madoka is Jesus' one made me Zzzzzz.....
This is what I wrote right when I heard the track..lol
As we expected....a great theme for Walpurkis Naucht...T_____T....I'm so happy...(even I see the end of HomuraChan definitely lies after this...T___T..Sorry HomuraChan...) It's a great song..with the dark omen in its rhythm...
BTW..after that, I realize that she survived..lol.
As for Eri's track...I wonder that it's supposed (by someone who has much influence in the anime team) to play (this song or its variation) in every episode..???

Yes, Madoka is the Messiah! Bah, to me Sailor Moon is the original one, with her special dress, wings & nudism in the last episode :P
OMG! The ending of Sailor Moon was the worst!! I read the manga before watching the whole series (which was already painful) and when I got to the "let's be friends, I'm naked" ending, I wanted to kill myself!!
It was like the manga was for 14 year old girls and the anime was for 7 year old girls.
I know that it's out of topic but I read Sailormoon mainly from Manga and I watch only 3 from 5 series of Anime because the anime is...= =...
As for Tsubasa's comment about Madoka's mum... This is the first Mahou Shoujo Anime that the adults weren't completely cut out from their kid who is in the magical world... Madoka's mum may be the adult side of view in the anime..lol.
Overall, not the ending I expected, but I got really surprised at Madoka's wish. And I really wanted to see more of her fighting.
lol.. I think it's a kind of cliche in Anime world..need some action scene for the epic. But Madoka series isn't some cliche thing at all...so it's quite ok for me..lol.
For my own comment...Umm.. I'm indifferent with the ending. It isn't disappointed, but it doesn't leave much impression as well. It isn't sth. much beyond the expectation.
The happiness in the end was the result of Madoka's sacrification. But in this despair, there're still some small miracle, that Homura&Tatsuya still remember her. And yes... the ending that Homura uses the ribbon and the arm in the same form as Madoka is a touching ending for me.
The violin scene..so that song is really Schubert's Ave Maria.. I think someone commented before that it's similar to the song named 'Ave Maria' of some J-pop boyband..? So both songs are based from the same Ave Maria..it isn't a new song at all.) Even It's Kyousuke-Hitomi at the end... the boy still has sth. about Sayaka in his mind..it's ok... but..poor Sayaka..TT..
The conversation of Homura and Kyubey in the new world make me think of a conversation between a philosopher, a mathematician, and a physicist...lol..well..it's in my field.. Kyubey reminded me the fact that Mathematics has been proved that it isn't a complete system because there are something definitely unable to prove that it's right or wrong. (Out of topic again..sorry..XD.)
As for Tsubasa's comment about Madoka's mum... This is the first Mahou Shoujo Anime that the adults weren't completely cut out from their kid who is in the magical world... Madoka's mum may be the adult side of view in the anime..lol.
Well guys here is my thought for why the ending was a rather hopeful one.
Firstly, u see Madoka's target audience was meant to be for the japanese , and when the big quake occur, SHAFT was in the process of making episode 11 and 12. SO don't u think it is really logical that SHAFT made a more hopeful ending in the time of such a national crisis. I mean if i was a japanese watching Madoka in the time where my nation is receiving Nuclear meltdowns and quakes, wouldnt i want something at least more hopeful
like a messiah or jesus figure that madoka was portrayed in?
Thus for those people who wanted a bad ending or didnt like the ending could think again for the FIRST TARGETED audience suffering atm.
Too bad Yuri's track was ill-audible because of SFX. But it's really great.
Also, there's a really good piece sounding at the end of ep 11.
Ep 12 track... maybe not so epic, but it redefines heartwarming. Just the music that scene needed to evoke more tears. Well done, Yuki.
by the way does anyone is able to create a single interpretation of the last scene. The homura one.
Who knows... maybe a farewell mindscrew from Shinbo. Maybe
Homura's last battle.
Maybe simply a battle in a barrier - I assume
demons have those, too.
The main point I got for myself in this scene is
Madoka's voice - meaning she retained her consciousness rather than becoming a faceless constant (despite Mami's fears that she might not)
I heard Madoka=Jesus meme is progressing. Seriously, though, better make it clear:
Madoka is no God. She's just a Puella Magi who chose to prevent other magical girls from becoming witches - as in, any magical girls who existed or will ever exist. She has not died, but the inevitable side effect of her wish is that she won't be able to manifest herself physically anymore (as she's effectively present in every timeline and period simultaneously), and there are no records of Madoka Kaname left in the world. She will live this life until there is at least one Puella Magi left on Earth (I don't dare speculate on what would happen next). Remember Mami telling her that dying would be easier - she'd leave the physical world anyway, but she would have no obligations after that. Madoka chooses to do what she does - saving magical girls from becoming witches. So that THEY could no longer have obligations after they pay the full price for their wishes. Their ending options are relatively nobler, too. In my eyes, Madoka may be not unlike a valkyrie to some extent, except that the souls of warriors she gathers don't have to fight anymore. I feel sad about Sayaka, but she met a better end, paying with her life for Kamijou's happiness. And the other girls accept it. They'll follow sooner or later - but we've seen that souls interact more freely. Someday, all five girls will reunite again...
Also, if Oriko Magica is indeed the prequel to Madoka, the whole apprentice hypothesis is worthless, right?
And "The innocent malice" is another prequel, a sequel or it's set during the Madoka Magica timeline?
We'll know about Oriko once we see it released. Now there IS a possibility of it being a sequel that takes place in the final world.
As to Innocent Malice... it might even turn out to be a prequel. There are things there that really shouldn't happen after PMMM events... unless...
unless Madoka has ceased to exist somehow, with nobody to prevent the birth of witches
I don't think SHAFT changed the ending at all (unless they are willing to release an alternative one)
A ending of a series like madoka can't be created and animated in just a month.
+1. And don't forget to record voices again, and have Yuki write new music, since the one we've heard would never fit in a bad ending... A month is a tight deadline for that.
While it may seem unusually positive for something expected from Urobuchi, don't forget that its'n not a happy ending. It's bittersweet enough - the world did not became a paradise,
there are still monsters born from curses, and there are still magical girls who fight those monsters and are destined to die/disappear sooner or later. And when Homura dies/disappears, there will be effectively no remaining witnesses to prove Madoka's existence. Apart from Kyuubey, but even he took Homura's story with a bag of salt.
