Heresy indeed

The ending was unexpected, but it was imo a very good one. It wasnt TOO big of a gigantic asspull, fan theories have gotten pretty close to the real ending, but was different enough to make it not predictable. Definitely fitting for one of my favourite anime

Well in my opinion if u liked Madoka and was a true fan i think the ending was really good ( gives a very wholesome feel)
BUT if ure like Grunty who didnt really kinda support it all the way, one might feel that the ending of this anime might be crappy. ( not targetting Grunty or any Madoka anti-fans here)
In my opinion :shy:
I think this is a wonderful ending :3 :dote:
Yes it was very sad that Madoka ceased to exist
But at least Akemi and mami and kyoko came back. Moreover the cycle of witches have been broken and now they go by demons and curses and if they even showed how the impurities in the soul gem is removed , not requiring a Grief Seed.
Moreover her wish for all the witches the cease to exist in the past, present and future came to me as a surprise.
Finally the ending portion where they showed Akemi using something similar to Madoka's weapon was another really good ending.
In all this anime did not end as a cliff hanger and it ended surprisingly hopeful yet regretful

BANZAI TO MADOKA :sparkleguy: :sparkleguy:

Is the story going to continue on Oriko Magica? I can't remember if it's supposed to be a sequel or a spin off.

Lol, and will I get away from therapy if I say there was ONE thing leaving me disapointed? :orz: Try guessing it, if you want. :plot:

Kyubey survived?
:XD:

No. Rather the fact that
Sayaka didn't.

I'm watching ep 11 now, and... aaaarrgh :orz:
Oh, and after Kyuubey's phrase right now... Yes, Rafael, now your guess is partly true as well. :blood:

* posting right after having watched both episodes and without have read any of the after p87 comments*

Wow, from the things I have heard about Urobuchi's works, this has to be the first of his works with fortunate ending :XD:

I guess that all this time they were working on the Madoka transformation and action scenes as well as the space ones because the graphic were stunning :stars:

Oh it should be the first time a magical girl talks to her mother about the magical situation, usually the parents dont even notice :XD:

Now I cant wait for the soundtrack :sohappy: :sohappy:

*after reading the comments*

I agree that the Yuri Kahara bgm was awesome :dote: , together with the Sayaka-witch, we've got 2 super-epic tracks :dote: :sohappy:

In my opinion, a good ending was necessary after all this dispair, so Im more than satisfied.

I give to the anime 8/10, I'd give 10/10 if they werent repeating the same music tracks again and again ( :uh..: )

Yeah, I suppose it's the happiest we'll ever get from Urobuchi. :leaf: Maybe Shinbo did influence the script after all, he is not above positive outcomes himself.
It all doesn't stop the ending from being damn tear-jerking, though.
Btw, Urobuchi said in an interview that he had never given thorough thought to how Homura's crusade worked from an outer perspective. Why am I not surprised to learn it was a lie? :ohoho: :XD:

I agree that the Yuri Kahara bgm was awesome , together with the Sayaka-witch, we've got 2 super-epic tracks

Three, counting Mami's theme. :sparkleguy:

^So was Contractor, and it sounds pretty epic to me. YMMV. :tea:

OK, watched it all with subs... Wow. Just wow.
I thought Homura's wish was a tricky bypass, but it really bleaks in comparison.
I'm ready for my medication, Dr.Grunty. Not that it'll help. :XD: While really sad, this ending is something I hoped to see but had bitter thoughts about how it would play out. It played out brilliantly - Madoka did the best she could do under the circumstances, and as we see it was something she really could only do now. I assume this ending WILL create a case of broken base (and this, coincidentally, was my most accurate prediction, regardless of the ending we'd have seen :ohoho: ). But I accept it whole-heartedly.

Seriously: some will mock the show for pulling off instrumentality ending and making Madoka a goddess... But "goddess" is merely a summarizing term here, the one to use for the lack of more precise ones. Madoka made a wish that effectively locked her up in a situation possibly grimmer than Homura's, and that's what Mami warned her about. Still she did it concsiously - became a constant preventing Puellae Magi from becoming witches. Wording her wish to expand on all timelines and realities, she didn't just change the rules, but became a rule herself. Here's, however, the trademark Urobuchi bittersweetness: being a law of nature, no matter how probably sentient, isn't compatible with being a human. Before someone grumbles about pseudoreligious quirks of the script, let's remember the actual Jesus Christ for whom the aforementioned compatibility was never a problem. Madoka, despite Kyuubey's words, is no God. She's just someone who chose to pay with her life for a chance to bring hope not countered by despair. Even if that meant that the world would forever forget about the actual existence of a girl named Madoka Kaname. Although it's heartwarming to see that some people still remtain some vague reminiscence of her... :touched:

Obviously, the world didn't quite become a sugary paradise either. Puellae Magi still exist, curses still create monsters... What has changed? One thing: being Meguca is not pure suffering now, but accepting a sad fate for your wish. The Madoka Constant is what prevents this fate to backfire on everything you have possibly achieved. Thus, Sayaka does die from overclocking her powers (I suspect that these might be the events of Timeline 3 replayed to an extent), but she doesn't become a witch. It's as simple as that. Ditto for all the magical girls Madoka saved - at first I was confused why they disappeared, then it became clear. Their wishes remained, and they paid the price for them, but the pain they were meant to spread thereafter was negated. According to Kyuubey many of those wishes are hinted to have shaped up the history (remember the medieval girl about to be burnt - would that be a hint at Jeanne D'Ark? :ayashii: ), so they were preserved. Really now, Madoka's gambit looks smarter and more effective than anything Kyuubey has ever pulled off. :groucho:

11 out of 10. Haters gonna hate, Nick Hunter's gonna keep this animu in his heart.

Now, I really don't know about sequels, but we do have two manga spin-offs. In the light of how things turned out, there are already speculations that Orico Magica might be one rather than a prequel. :ayashii:
But I'm really puzzled about Kazumi Magica now. Either we have yet to get the full picture of the world in this continuity, or Kazumi Magica is really an AU. :@_@: To mention just one thing,
that world does have canon witches complete with Grief Seeds, but if the events take place in the same world after the events of PMMM, then their existence is impossible due to the aforementioned Madoka Constant. But the scene where the system is explained to Kazumi shows the sillhouettes of Madoka and Kyuubey (lol, now it seems pretty symbolic to me - the magical girl system changed its attribute from "(C) Incubators" to "(C) Incubators & Madoka Kaname" :psst:)... weird, just weird.

Overall, not the ending I expected, but I got really surprised at Madoka's wish. And I really wanted to see more of her fighting.

That's something
she'll keep doing for an eternity, but in no visible way.

(I think there will be some unused BGMs on the CDs...)

That would be beyond awesome. :touched: Heck, Noir and .hack//SIGN had bonus tracks (the latter had a whole bonus CD, for that matter), and I want to believe that this show's popularity will grant it somethin glike that. Come on, Sony, don't fill the BDs with audio dramas alone! :gimmeh:

I cried gallons!!!!

Too bad Sayaka died a witch, so Madoka couldn't save her. The violin scene almost killed me. Cleopatra and Jeanne d'Arc were PMs? That was kinda lame, but actually justified Cubey's argument. Madoka self-sacrificing?? Homura's desperation, and guilt??? OMFG!! My eyes are red an my shirt is all wet!! :omg:

Also, Madoka's wish? Girl had SOME BRAINS on her. :sohappy:

It wasn't the best ending we could hope for but considering how dark the entire show was, it came out quite happy. I liked the weird demons in the end, and Homura with red ribbons and fighting with a bow? Really cool! :XD:

And Tatsuya remembered Madoka, so sweeeeeet!! :shy:

My final impressions on the show? Best mahou shoujo EVER!! :dote:

Too bad Sayaka died a witch, so Madoka couldn't save her. The violin scene almost killed me.

It still took place in Timeline 5, after Walpurgis Night. So, no one was saved here. The brightest ray of light we get is that their souls were not destroyed, after all, including Sayaka's. :TdT: Good to see Kyuubey mistaken again. :plot:
I'm still miffed about Sayaka's demise in the end... Homura was bitterly right, this girl who would make an awesome magical girl in other shows of this genre just fails to survive every time she becomes one here. :orz: At least her wish is fulfilled, and she died a [relatively] heroic death in battle. :leaf: We'll never forget you either, Sayaka-chan...
A drop of morning Rescue for me is that at least my other fave character lives on. I can't help looking forward to Orico Magica and placing some hopes in it. :ayashii:

:nophoto:

The cover of Oriko Magica Vol 2. All the more chances for it being a sequel of sorts (I doubt the prequel would go as far as to show Madoka and Homura involved as it was in the series). But then, we've yet to see if Madoka's presense here is a symbol, fanservice, trolling or some mindscrewing speculah like
Madoka being reborn as Oriko or Oriko becoming her medium :white: :@_@: :XD:
Still, it makes much more sense that the manga would be delayed until the end of the series. :ayashii:

Also, a Madoka cafe opens soon. I'd advise visitors to be careful with their orders./人◕ ‿‿ ◕人\

Sayonara, Mahou Shoujo Madoka*Magica...

Thank you for almost making me cry in those two final episodes. :shy:

But, yeah, it's almost likely clear to me we will have a sequel... But not a Slice-of-Life one, please, it would ruin it all!!

Because people keep visiting those cafes? :XD:
Things are sold while they sell, and in Madoka's case... They say Amazon's BD/DVD pre-order chart is featuring Madoka's name in the six top entries again. :plot:
Madoka also keeps shining in the Internet - down to the cases of pure coincidental irony. :XD:

While on the subject of pics... let's remember this one.

The first official art. The very first SPOILER. :ohoho:

Nick Hunter said:

What about Oriko being Homura's apprentice? And, since as we know it, Homerun-chan never forgot Madoka, she threat Oriko like her?...

:XD: Okay, it's a horrible theory!!!

:ohoho: IMO, Madoka is the only one who isn't exactly cute... :blood:

Except the "angel-like" version in the end.

But the worst part about Episode 12 was...

WHERE IN THE HELL WAS MAGIA? HOW COULD THEY FORGET TO ADD IT TO THE ENDING?
:blood:

It's not uncommon for the show to end with an opening theme. :tea:
But it may be miffing, true. We haven't heard Magia since episode 10, and even there it was a brief battle theme. Lol, I'm kinda glad they didn't use it for this WN showdown, though. :XD:

:blood: Magia was actually the ending for ONLY Episodes 03 to 08. [I am not counting the inserts]
