Kalafina new song "Μärchen" (メルヒェン) ED for Zaregoto OVA

Highschool of the Dead had a different ending song for every single episode, that's the one thing that comes to mind.

Of all Kajiura projects I really don't think I want Kalafina having full songs in other languages...
 
actually no... I wanted Yuri to sing german intermittently in the song and Kalafina being its usual self. I somehow fail to see how good it would be for Kalafina to sing in a language other than japanese. It could be nice I suppose but would feel terribly awkward at first.

frankly the language is really secondary to me. it's the singing and composition that count. not sure we will be satisfied in either.
 
Yes its secondary but its 1 element of refreshing. If singing other languages than japanese is awkard, they why its not when they sing english, italian (canta per me) and latin (salva nos), the same girls as FJ ?
 
So I listened to lives of forest, winter and maybe tomorrow - would you really say they aren't awkward?

I'm all for Kajiura using other real languages in her tracks (if she can get people actually familiar with the language to work with her) but Kalafina? I gotta goin'. No, thanks.

I'm not really familiar with any other language besides English and some Spanish, but I don't think I'd have much confidence in having Kalafina sing in German. Wasn't there a brief discussion about Wo ist die Kase and how just from the title it's incorrect? Something about cheese being masculine in German, but 'die' is feminine? Did the lyrics for Noi! make any sense? And yeah, even some of the recent English is kinda awkward.

To be fair that has nothing to do with pronunciation, it's Kajiura's lyric writing that's the issue there.

That said, it's always better to have a singer sing in their native language because, well, it's what they know. Naturally it'll sound best in a language they know very well.

Which is why I mentioned finding people familiar with the language... I'm having a hard time imagining Bindiger not questioning that lyric.

for one thing if she hired @yuki.n she will be able to correct lyrics in 7 languages XD

and its not like that its just Kajiura, even if the lyrics are totally correct ( see Akiko Shikata's sent to translators lyrics) the girls will have broken pronounciation anyway. (i laugh every time i hear at song "ta ennea poulia" the lyric "akuo tis karakses na krazun" (crying) pronounced as klazun by Shikata since the latter means "farting"). Greek at SH's moira are butchered.

Hey, it's you who wanted Kalafina to have longer parts in other languages. :P

Don't know why you're bringing other acts into this. It's really no secret Shikata's pronunciation sucks hard on other languages.

German's pronunciation is hard as hell. I studied it for two years and those vowels, for example, are not easy to get (my mother tongue is Spanish, btw). Those special vowels, which have umlaut (ä, ö, ü), can change meanings. It could be a disaster, really. I won't even start with other phonetic aspects or grammar, which is a nightmare (and I love it that way, but I'm kinda crazy). It is hard (unless you speak a closer language, but Japanese isn't). As much as I love German, and songs in different languages, I'd pass.

I want this to be dark folk, if that makes any sense. I'm crossing my fingers, really. I'd be satisfied if it is good, actually, but... Well, we had natsu no asa. I can have hopes, right?
 
Melody and compisition are always more important to lyrics for me, it's why I'm totally fine listening to music in any language.

That said, the main problem with lyrics in a language you understand is that you can pick up on anything that's wrong. I'm sure that some songs I've heard have mispronunciations everywhere but I don't pick up on them because they're not in a language I can speak. In this case, ignorance is actually useful.
 
I don´t care about the language either (I won´t understand the lyrics anyway lol) If Kajiura composes something beautiful, that´s right for me.
Also, it really bugs me when I listen to japanese songs in english with really REALLY basic grammar mistakes. Like, didn´t ANYONE involved in the song production noticed that?

And yeah, I also though of SH with the title xD
 
@Sofia: however kajiura did attend school in germany during elementary - middle school so she probably still remembers some, not sure if she has the confidense to use them though since the last and only german song so far is das wandern
