Kalafina new song "heavenly blue"

lol you guys.

Wow, storia did not do well? That was one of my fave singles, since lirica is soooo awesome. But I guess for those who did not watch or know about RHH, it would not do well with them. (I loved the soundtrack too.)

Anyways, back about the song, does anyone notice that (at least it's this way with Hulu) when the theme starts in Aldnoah, it's significantly quieter than the show itself, and even the music. Just thought it was weird.

I actually like heavenly blue.

There. I said it.

Of course, I don't disagree that their work for KnK were the best. I still listen to them regularly. I don't get the hate for this song though.

The song grows on you, that's for sure. Still doesn't change how it's basically Yuki mashing up her previous works into one, and how disjointed it all is (primary reason for hate, I guess). But best parts are still bridge and Hikaru's verses. Man can that girl rip through those lines.

I only hope Fate/Stay Night ED will bring Magia levels of awesomeness.

The review is a bit harsh but sadly it's true. I only don't really agree with 'strings of disappointment since 2012' because consolation new songs are good, plus I enjoy Alleluia and Kimi no Gin no Niwa. I know Alleluia isn't a great song, composition wise but I like the way it flows and the positive energy radiating from that song. Plus I'm a Keikofag so what can I say lol. And their Kimi no Gin no Niwa single is actually their best single since...progressive for me because I like all songs in that single. Some people may say it's their best single since storia, or even fairytale though.

Well review is actually up to each person's taste so people who like the song will still like the song and people who don't just won't. Yes let's hope for their upcoming work for F/SN to be awesome. It may not be Magia-level of awesomeness for me because Magia is actually boring after awhile (at least for me, lol). oblivious-level of awesomeness, yes. :XD:

Yup. Heavenly blue grew on me pretty quickly, unlike TTB. I like the chorus a little less than the other two parts but I do like how it transitions to "kimi ga yume miru nara~". I want to watch the anime and find out if there's any special meaning to the lyrics, but sawano's music keeps pushing me away. Why does he have to go full on over the top for every scene. So so hammy!

Sort of off topic rant:
^Alleluia's an amazing song imo, though it took hearing it live as the last encore song for me to realise. The meaning in its lyrics and Keiko's powerful delivery will bring most people to tears. It's a sentiment I saw echoed by many on Twitter during the recent twitter event, as well as during the niconico performances. It's a simple but beautiful song, and it is a shame that some do not know how to appreciate it. Listen well to the lyrics. Understand what keiko is singing to you, why she dedicates the song to you, the audience, their fans, as she bids you farewell at their concert. It may be singing about crying and the hardships of life, but it's a song about accepting that as a part of life, continuing to move forward in spite of it and wishing you a bright future, full of hope and happiness.

I remember people criticising the repitition of words in the lyrics. That repitition in the lyrics is very hard to translate to English. I don't think there's an equivalent? At least, not that I can think of. It exists in Chinese too, and it works really well in the song. In fact, some actually find Hikaru's only solo line to be one of the most moving part of the song.

Often times, people ignore the lyrics and simply listen to songs for their melody. Ask them what is more important and they'll tell you it's the catchiness. It can have the dumbest lyrics in the world and still be popular. It was a discussion I witnessed online somewhere. Of course, defenders of good lyrics will then point out that it's the songs that have a good melody and meaningful lyrics that stand the test of time. Damn right they are.

I must admit I rarely pay much attention to lyrics, regardless of the language. More often than not it's the melody and 'atmosphere' of a song that draws me in. Even so, there are lyrics that sometimes 'click' with me and that's what makes it a favourite. It's pretty rare in my case, but it does happen. One that sticks in my mind is the MBV tune 'Thorn', which is a typical shoegaze-y pop track from one of their EPs. The line "you give me flowers then it's thorns I give to you" just jumped out at me for some reason, and I fell in love with it without really knowing why.

Before I go on an off-topic tangent: Alleluia didn't resonate with me until I saw the Mirai Fukuin movie. Then, without even knowing the meanings of the words themelves, the 'feel' of the song when heard in context just worked perfectly. I had the same impression of 'I have a dream' too: a pleasant enough ballad, but when I heard it played over the ending credits to the Time of Eve film...wow.

I'm still not familiar enough with the Japanese language yet, but I do get the impression that at least when it's spoken/sung there's a lot of repetition involved. Maybe it's down to the structure of the grammar, or perhaps because there are so many homophones?

Re: Heavenly Blue. I'm still waiting for that 'eureka' moment when I start to really appreciate it. I'll give it a bit longer, since there's another half a dozen or so opportunities to listen to it before the show stops airing!

I've never been one to care much about actual lyrics that much, it's a nice bonus but unless it's something really bad or special then it doesn't hold much weight for me. It's all about melodies, atmosphere and god knows how many other things combined together that make particular songs stand out. Sometimes something just catches me and never lets go, keeping my focus for the duration of the song and not letting my mind focus on anything else, although very few songs actually do it for me. I can enjoy a lot of music but rarely does something truly capture my complete attention and love.

I'm still not sold on Heavenly Blue and I'm not sure I will be. There are a couple of other Kalafina songs I'm not sold on which are older so it does happen sometimes.

I am that way with lyrics about Japanese songs, mainly because I can only catch a few phrases that I actually know. But then later I look up the lyrics after a song is released, especially Kalafina. But then I forget them again and it makes it all the worthwhile to see them again later when I go 'what did that phrase mean again?' or, 'what did Yuki mean by that?' sort of thing. I remember Alleluia's lyrics being some of the most touching ones since their KnK days.

But I actually don't hate HB, I was just saying I understand why some people would. It is a little weird, I don't really like the keyboard in it. It has grown on me, and I actually like it almost as much as TTB, since I like that song. I hope the new F/SN song isn't like that though, that it's a little more dark like Tsuioku, or manten. Anyways, I love Wakana's melody in the song and the strings, and Keiko's few lines. Hikaru's part is even growing on me. (I do agree about Magia, just listened to it again the other day and was like 'meh.' Not to say I don't like that one either.)

I've always found YK's lyrics beautiful, my only incentive for buying the European version...it never happened though so I'll probably just stick English translations on my albums! Seventh Heaven lyrics are an emotional tear-jerking roller-coaster . Heavenly Blue is slowly but surely getting to me ..probably because I am also enjoying Aldnoah Zero too! Looking forward to a DVD version of HB!

I feel like I'm one of the few who loved that song from the get-go. I mean, I didn't think too closely about the lyrics at first, but even then, I liked the tune, I liked the performances, and on the whole it's a song that, from the very first time I heard it, just made me happy listening to it.
The lyrics help too though, being that I am quite frankly a sucker for that kind of thing the song is about. I thought UTW's translation of the song was particularly beautiful, despite obviously taking a lot of liberties.

Oh right, Heavenly Blue. Uh... I kinda agree with all the criticisms that it feels disjointed and like a rehash of earlier Kalafina-songs, but I did start liking it a bit better when I saw the opening animation it was attached to. Still, one of the weaker Kalafina-songs for me.

^ I'm with you! I liked the melody of 'Alleluia' the first time I listened to it. And when I saw the translation for the lyrics, my love for it grew exponentially. It's such a great song, it cheers me up and gives me strength to go on in hard times.

I like heavenly blue. When I say like I don't mean love. Like Alleluia, I've gotten over this song pretty quickly. To me, Hikaru's verses are the best bit.

I'm not being biased when I say that I actually mean I just think they sound cool :XD:

Same info as above on リスアニ

Good heavens.

Edit: The yellow light is disturbing. Not sure if the quality will be good when it comes out (please don't be like storia) but I adore the close ups.

^ I tend to be never excited about PVs if they dont have some sort of plot, no matter in what awesome building they are shot or how "cool" the artists look. With that said, the stone cold PV (which seems to be similar to this one) wasnt any better than the previous FJ PVs, except that the camera was moving more, and sadly the guys responsible for the Kalafina ones are equally uninspired. The ones I have liked to the point of rewatching them were seventh heaven, Lacrimosa, Magia, symphonia, and moonfesta Minna no Uta ver. all the others became boring after a while :(

Hahaha I think it's down to personal preference. Generally I have never found any MVs / PVs to be so interesting that I want to re-watch them again and again (be it Kala/FJ or other artists), but if we're only getting that standing/sitting-around-lip-syncing-while-looking-cool/beautiful (which always seems to be the case for most artists), then I really like what I see for 'stone cold', 'Yume no Daichi', 'Kagayaku Sora no Shijimaniwa' and 'Moonfesta'. The rest make me yawn :ohoho::punched::ouch:

EDIT: 'Lacrimosa' and 'progressive' creep me out. It's just weird IMO.

Oh wow, moderators can move posts to another thread? Cool! Thanks @george1234 (I'm assuming it's you :XD:)!

Sorry for posting it in the 'believe' thread. I initially thought that it's the MV for 'believe', then I saw that it's actually 'heavenly blue'
