I assume Kalafina fans+Madoka Magica fans+Casual listeners who've fallen in love with Magia. :glasses:

Magia is quite well-received by the mainstream music listener, of anyway. I have some friends who aren't even Kalafina fans but they like Magia(not buying though, unfortunately).

@joel_jman: they can reach #1 if no mainstream artist is releasing on the same day, same week. Didn't I say this already... :desksweat:
+1~ my friends here who watch Madoka Magica said that they fall in love with Magia~ and I agree with you that casual-listeners that never hear Kalafina's works before would fall in love with this single.. :sohappy:

Just take it easy, I bet Yuki88 knew what you mean~ and I do have a same wishful thinking with you~~

While having wishful thinking, we still need to be realistic, you know... :uh..:

Same here. I have a few Japanese friends who mostly listen to mainstream JMusic and I remember them asking me around a year back which Japanese artists I like listening to. When I slipped in the name "Kalafina" back then, all of my friends admitted they have never heard of Kalafina before (for understandable reasons music genre-wise I guess). Just recently, they brought up Kalafina again and they told me Magia's ranking in the Oricon caught their attention. They said they really like the song after listening to a sample of it, and they found it "catchy" in a unique and refreshing sense compared to the other songs they listen to nowadays. A couple of them even told me "Ah, is this that "Kalafina" you mentioned before last time? Their music is very interesting and I'll look out for their songs next time too." It's quite a difference from back then when they wouldn't bother trying out songs from artists they have never heard of before or are not familiar with. Makes me so proud and happy for Kalafina as a fan. :sohappy:

One of my friends who listens mostly to rock and metal music, liked Magia :ohoho:

@Keiri: yeah, I'm really proud, too. It's like "ah, finally they acknowledged Kalafina's talent" :dote:

@Alphie: my friend is Kpop fan lawl :XD:

So, even in Japan Kalafina fans is only from certain group of people with distinguish music taste/genre ? :confu:

Well you can say Kalafina fans generally come from either anime fans or Yuki Kajiura's fans. They're categorized into Anisong artist, after all.

Well, that's the impression I got from my Japanese friends as well as their opinions of the general population when it comes to music reception in Japan. To second Yuki88's comments, Anison actually isn't that big in Japan compared to mainstream music contrary to common opinions.

It's not even surprising if people haven't heard of Mizuki Nana before she succeeded in dominating the Oricon rankings and began making more appearances in mainstream music TV programs. I remember discussing with my friends on another occasion way back and when I mentioned "Mizuki Nana", nobody knew who she was...until they saw her name high on the Oricon charts one day as well as on Kohaku among various media.

Kalafina making it into the Top 10 in whichever chart in the Oricon is definitely a good sign because that would mean more exposure and recognition for them. Hopefully this is one of the good beginnings which would lead to their fanbase to grow even among mainstream music fans. It's probably wishing thinking for now, but I do hope it becomes reality one day. ^^

A bit late, but yesterday's sales were 3,410 copies. 1st day sales 6,653 + 2nd day sales 3,410 = total sales 10,063 copies within 2 days. With their rising position to 5th today I assume today's sales being at least 4-5k copies.

Now I'm wondering if Magia will easily out-sell oblivious as the current Kalafina's highest single sales... :ayashii:

^Kalafina in Top 10 isn't something new. All KnK singles + Hikari no Senritsu made it.
I still think it is a pity that, for some artists, singles sell mainly because of tie-ins.

^ not all Kalafina singles made it into the Top 10, pardon me. And Magia is the first one to actually reach Top 5 on daily chart iirc.

I am happy they made it for far,top 5 is something great for their popularity, although on the other hand for me,popularity isn't always good :XD:
I know that in Japan most people listen to mainstream pop like Ayumi Hamasaki and idol/groups like AKB48,like in US they listen to Lady Gaga.In every country it's the same.
So :dote: for Kalafina that entered the charts!
I didn't know people didn't know that Kalafina weren't mainstream. Still, they are Kajiura's ''most mainstream'' music group :XD:

I believe I said ALL KARA NO KYOUKAI singles + Hikari no Senritsu (unless stupid wikipedia is trolling me). That shows even more how singles are bound to sell more because of the tie-in nowadays, depending on the artist.
That being said, I personally doubt they will become mainstream because of being in top 5, even in the future.

Oh,i doubt is as well,or at least i hope for it.

I don't remember saying I want them to be mainstream artist btw. I only said I'm happy too see them being acknowledged by the mainstream community by having Magia sold this good between all those big names releasing on the same day (I don't wanna sound like broken old record by repeating this thing over and over, you know, but it's the reality).
