Because most people like generic and stupid songs. Very popular -> not necessarily good artist, but good at marketing (see Madona (imo), Justin Beeber, and every country has its examples)

Don't forget to add brazilian "music" to the list. ARGH. How can those "things" be so famous?

I used to listen to the radio quite a bit, but when I started listening to Kajiura-sensei's music more, I realized that (in my opinion) most of the radio songs were terrible. It's depressing how they're so much more popular

Can't give any comment for Madonna, but I agree for JB... ..I don't know whether I'm the only one who feel like this or not..., but living in Canada makes me so annoyed of him.., his songs are boring and I found no interesting thing in his voice.

I think #8 isn't that bad...let's hope them be able to be in Top10 in the weekly chart...(or it's too hopeless...??? Orz...)

Another thing that we should take in our mind is Kalafina isn't idol, but AKB48 and many other artists in the mainstream are... We love Kalafina because of their songs, but idol fans dedicate themselves for their idols without caring of the song quality or sth. like that.. Don't mix the idol fans, who cares of the idols more than their songs, with fans who love the singers because of their songs like us..

Even some fans love their idols because of their appearance, their cute voices, their lovely songs (well..in their opinions, not mine..= =.) and it turned out that their idols in the new single have the awful makeup or have a crappy song, they still buy those singles because of their (blind) love for them... .

No need to mention some marketting strategy like randomizing some lucky fans who buy their CDs to join the fanmeeting..well..I know many fans who bought more than 100 copies of CD just to ensure that they would be picked..., just for a chance to meet their idols in person... .

Same here (reminds me of most Kpop)

Well, at least Magia's in the Top 10. Let us hope that it remains in the top 10 or even better in the following days. (but usually, sales decline for the next days)

So far all of Kalafina's works (except Re: Oblivious) wer ranked in the range of Top 15. Consifering how stable this proves to be, it should speak volumes. Besides, their songs are worth listening over and over, while pop music industry knows a lot of examples when a song went platinum in half a month, only to lose all the hype in half a year.

Reall agree with Kagaribi no Hibara. Those otakus love their idols just only because of their appearance, and their awful *funny* voices. I called their songs "nye-nye-nye songs" because those are really awful and unworthy to hear *for me*

I assume Kalafina fans+Madoka Magica fans+Casual listeners who've fallen in love with Magia.

Magia is quite well-received by the mainstream music listener, of anyway. I have some friends who aren't even Kalafina fans but they like Magia(not buying though, unfortunately).

@joel_jman: they can reach #1 if no mainstream artist is releasing on the same day, same week. Didn't I say this already...

Estimated sales yesterday was 3,410. Total is 10,063. Currently rank at #7 for total sales.

And sales don't tell the quality of the music. AKB is an idol group. A best-selling artist of Japan at the moment. And Kalafina is a non-idol group. Better not compare Kalafina to them
