Kalafina LIVE TOUR 2015-2016 "far on the water"

watched the whole concert

Loved all of their performance in this live except believe. believe is not an amazing live song.
most favorite and lovely scene is ring your bell (in the silence). Dat Wakana's Smile kills me 100 times . she is so beautiful :nosebleed:

i love how they perform all the new song live.

This live was really over the top. Theatrics and choreography were entertaining to say the least, even if not for the best reasons. Still, the performances were on point. It's been a while since the girls sounded so good. Especially Wakana, her solo during Ongaku was amazing.

As a side note, I really wish Kajiura would lighten up on the e. guitar. I felt like korenaga got a solo in just about every song.

i know y'all hate heavenly blue but i'm still a little salty that osaka was the only stop to not have it on the setlist lol

the stage theatrics still make me laugh but the girls sounded nice for the parts i did watch ... felt a bit nostalgic even tho i don't listen to many of their songs much lately

Oh god the Kaladansu I can't
giphy.gif

Kudos to the girls though, for working hard to remember all the moves and stuff :goodjob:
Only watched the first two songs so far but it sounds amazing. Also Hikaru's pantsu omg :nosebleed:
(btw, why does Wakana have tape on her ear? Is it to hold the microphone in? :confu:

Ahhhh I shouldn't read this thread until I get mine. I have the slowest delivery on CDJ so it'll probably be a week. Ugh. I want it now. I will have to settle for old lives for now. But then I will cry.

(btw, why does Wakana have tape on her ear? Is it to hold the microphone in? :confu:
I didn't notice it before, and now I can't unsee it. I would assume so, since she sweats the most and that would presumably cause the IEMs to fall out.

One thing that did bother me was Hikaru's hair after she bowed. It got caught in the feathers and looked weird from that point on to the end of the first half. Luckily it was fixed in the second half.

Someone described this live as like a staged musical theatre performance and I'm inclined to agree. Not that I don't like choreography, but it does detract from the singing quite a bit. Choreography in songs like Koibito were highly unnecessary. Despite that, this BD was as close to the perfection that was Red Moon as you can get.

They started out amazing. Having the live start from Koibito without an instrumental was enough to set the atmosphere without requiring a long instrumental while everyone enters. Koibito gave me chills from start to finish, and it continued all the way till they lapis. Kagayaku was eh, since I've already heard it so many times. And then Musunde happened.

If I were to pick a best performance from this live, it's Musunde Hiraku. It was honestly sheer perfection, and the girls have never looked happier singing than they were this time. I loved it so, so much. I already love the studio version, but this just takes the cake for me. It was absolutely incredible, and I was there watching just smiling like an idiot the entire time.

Right after that, I was completely bored with storia, believe and misterioso. I love storia, but I've heard it so many times at this point that it's starting to get really old. Believe always sucke anyway, and misterioso is a snoozefest. Next. One Light was great though. While the Animelo 2015 live was better vocally, there was still an incredible amount of energy emanating from the girls. Hikaru sounded especially fierce, though a little strained.

I skipped nightmare ballet, and into the water was weird. I liked the synchronization of the song with the visuals and the choreography, but I felt more than anything it wasn't necessary, and would have been much better if the girls just sang it. I don't get why Kalafina doesn't sing their 'overture' type songs.

However, from then on, it was a complete blast of energy. In Every Nothing was okay in the studio version, but this live was amazing. Keiko's dress length (or lack thereof) bothered me a lot though. I'm not one to care for these things, but it was sooooo short. Anyway, in every nothing blew me away, and so did Yami no Uta, and identify. I love identify - I find it to be such a great concert song. The crowd was plenty hyped up and I actually like how they used the mic stand. Usumurasaki was also an excellent performance. The chorus gave me chills with all three girls being completely on fire vocally.

Signal was underwhelming here. I liked that there were no unnecessary band introductions, but this one felt weak in comparison to the ones before. I love this song, but maybe they've performed it 3 too many times? I don't know. The girls could have done better for this. Ongaku is skip again, and so is hb.

And ooooh, seventh heaven. Hikaru is way better here than Budokan, so that just makes it instant win.

RYBITS was interesting. Would've preferred vocals. Ring your bell was business as usual, though the Budokan version is slightly better to me. This MC after that was great, though. I laughed a lot of Hikaru commenting on Keiko during RYBUTS and how 'ikemen' she was XD. Mahiru was also beautiful - way better than studio. And FotW - same as RYb, which is business as usual. I wish they ended with Samidare. >.< I know it was performed once, but still.

Best performances:
Musunde Hiraku
Sorairo no Isu
Koibito
monochrome
Gogatsu no Mahou
lapis
in every nothing
Yami no Uta
identify
Usumurasaki
Mahiru

Basically, any new song in FotW and the new B-sides were excellent lives. And because large portion of the songs performed were new, this was as close to the Red Moon BD as you can get. The girls all sound great too.

But get rid of those encore dresses. Kill it with fire.

Oh God, I NEED TO WATCH IT, but I must study for some horrible exams. I hate everything

Yeah, Wakana had a tape on her left ear and iirc, Keiko also had a tape on her right ear during Budokan lives last year. I guess it was to prevent the earphones from slipping off. XD

Hikaru had a little bad hair from the first half but it doesn't matter anyway since her singing was pretty good! Sorry to say but I don't like Wakana's light blue dress, cause it really looks awkward. Keiko's pink dress is soo short, and dat wink is too precious haha! Kaladansu were kinda unnecessary but I quite enjoy it lol. XD

Great concert overall, my fave performances were Seventh Heaven, all the new tracks and all side B's performed. Dat documentary on Hongkong is sooo adorable too! :)

Just watched a bit of it with the shitty wifi here in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic!

I agree with Kirito - theatrics were front and center for this performance. I didn't like after Eden and consolation lives because of their mundane nature. Even budokan was a bore because of the crappy setlists.

I actually love "sorairono isu". From beginning to end was flawless. I prefers HIKARU's solo here than on the CD.

Definitely had more of a KEIKO presence here compared to consolation and after Eden. HIKARU didn't get much attention here. Not saying that's a bad thing.

So question, is a B2 size poster the same as the After Eden and Red Day ones? I am asking because I do not want a large box sitting on my porch if I am going to be gone on Wed. (If it doesn't come before then.) I know someone showed the pic on Twitter? I think? But does that mean for all places we get that poster? I saw the girls holding up the little one. So just curious.

Yes, B2 is the regular promo poster size for Japan. The one that came with the Budokan Live preorders is B2.

^Yes, I had Facebook to confirm. haha *sigh* I will have to get another frame. I wish I had more wall space.

A really cool post from my fave tumblr about the concert itself:

http://putschki1969.tumblr.com/post/146465915461/compilation-of-all-kaladansus-from-kalafina-live

"While skimming through other people’s reviews of this live, I’ve noticed quite an alarming amount of hate for the “over the top stage theatrics”. Yes, it’s true, they have upped the ante for sure, at times the concert felt almost like a musical, similar to a Sound Horizon performance. But why is this such a bad thing? A bit of dramatic sprinkle has never hurt anyone!! And it’s obvious the girls are enjoying themselves (especially our very own drama/angst-queen!Hikaru).

I feel like this live, more so than previous ones, is trying to tell a story. The songs are arranged in a kind of suite and there are certain themes that reappear frequently. It’s like the whole concert is some sort of symphony with different movements, some fast, others slow (which is also VERY reminiscent of Sound Horizon).

Take the Sorairo no Isu/lapis/Kagayaku Sora no Shijima ni Wa block for example. All three songs deal with the sky and the colour blue in one way or another. As a perfect transition, they lead into Musunde Hiraku which at its core is about love, hope, the future and promises but there’s also a line abut the lovely view of the sky seen from a planetarium. That’s a nice suite right there!

Then we have recurring themes such as the flags that appear in both Koibito no Mukashigatari no Yuugure no and Ring your Bell. One represents the overture for the entire concert, the other is the start of the encore. In addition to that, there is the colour-theme. It was cut from the BD but Keiko mentioned in the MC which should have been right before Hokage that their album represented a “journey of colours”. So did the live tour. This leads me to my next point

There is a constant juxtaposition of colour/light <=> black&white/darkness. And of course they have put in every nothing right in the middle of their concert, the very epitome of contradiction. The different outfits go very well with this whole concept. Their first set is close to being “monochrome”, same as their encore dresses. The colourful dresses from the second half of the live may or may not be reminiscent of different songs (e.g. Sorairo no Isu => Wakana’s dress, Usumurasaki => Hikaru’s dress).

With all of the above said, a concert like this doesn’t just need aural stimulation, the visuals play an important role as well. Especially considering that most Kalafina songs have lengthy instrumentals and it would be a waste not to make use of these parts. 95% of the dancing takes place during overtures or instrumentals so it’s not like the choreography is distracting the girls from their singing (which is something I wouldn’t approve of - I’d rather the girls focused on their vocals than a complex dance sequence).
Also, the girls are starting to get really good at this. In the past it was mostly Keiko who seemed to feel comfortable with all the dancing. More often than not Wakana and Hikaru ended up looking awkward. These days though, their movements are more natural and they have all developed a sense for rhythm. And like I’ve said above, they are obviously having a blast, the dancing doesn’t seem to be too forced anymore. It fits right in with all the other elements of the concert.
Last but not least, it just looks freaking awesome! I had the privilege of seeing this live and OMG, I just LIVE for this kind of stuff, I love the drama, the stage fog, the opera curtain, the lights, the sparkle, the frill, the epicness, it’s almost like going back to Kalafina’s old days when the whole gothic influence was still a lot stronger. Not that they had concerts like this back then but I don’t know, it’s a similar kind of vibe/atmosphere…But yeah, these things make me the concert so much more fun to watch. It’s also in the details, a note on the piano coinciding with a head tilt for example. It’s subtle but effective. And oh so lovely!

All right, I rest my case."

I agree with some points on Putschki's review there - just like what I've said on their Budokan Live, the girls are in a show business. Surely their main asset is their song but visual aid is also needed in their concerts. What I meant when I say the amount of Kaladansu and Kalatheatricals is ridiculous is, as what Kirito said, there are moments when the choreography just wasn't needed. During Koibito no Mukashigatari no Yuugure no for example. Or when Keiko cowers her body after lapis. Or those intense dress-wavings during in every nothing. I agree that the girls are now more relaxed and looked like they're enjoying their choreography routines but some of the dances are still really awkward and stiff to watch - in my case, it's during Yami no Uta and the beginning of usumurasaki. And I still can't forgive their choreographer for that octopus hand movements in Kyrie on Consolation and Budokan lives. On the bright side, some of the dances are actually cool. monochrome's is a bit over the top but it fits the mood of the song. Sadly it definitely makes Wakana tired because she's flat so many times during Gogatsu no Mahou. And I really really like the dance during usumurasaki's instrumental bridge. That actually looks really elegant, without over the top movements and still fits the mood of the song, not too exhausting either because it doesn't affect the girls' performance afterwards. Not a big fan of the beginning part, though.

plus rather than watching them flailing their hands, waving their dresses, and bending their bodies, I'd much rather have them sing into the water :p

I don't agree with whoever who said that "the heart isn't there" in his/her review because I actually think that the girls were really enjoying themselves during this live performance. They looked really proud of themselves for entertaining the audiences and the audiences seemed to be having the time of their lives, appreciating the girls and touching the girls' heart. I may not really like their voices and songs now as much as I used to but I like them better now as performers, if that makes any sense.

This is also much more entertaining than Budokan because of the fresh setlist. This live tour is the only live tour where they performed almost all B-sides from their singles. Bonus point for the MCs they retained. I think this dvd has the most MCs segment from the concert included in the dvd.

I definitely agree with Putschki's point of Kalafina color journey as the main point of the concert. Almost every songs have certain color(s) imagery embedded in the lyrics - tho I wouldn't go as far aa analysing its connection with their dresses - and the flow of the setlist is really good too.

The girls look really sexy and they are definitely more bold with their dresses too, with Hikaru's black dress is actually a crop top with frills hanging to hide her belly, Wakana exposing her wonderful upper back in her black dress and Keiko's two-piece pink dress revealing a bit of her belly.

I actually really like the upper part of Wakana's dress but the lower part with the stiff cone design is just awful. Their second set of dresses are just awful and the encore dresses are not that bad except for the fact that they look like they're sewn from leftover materials from their symphonia, Hikarifuru, and fotw dresses even though it's not the case. Plus the not quite there lengths bothers me a lot.

I have watched the live about 3 times by now.
My opinion is that the girls sung perfectly most of the time, but on the other hand the performances werent as attention seeking as they barely had any arrangements in. The visuals were really nice and defenetely added to the visual experience, but on the other side I also felt there were too much dances, and the one i disliked most is the dress/hand movements during in every nothing which was cool but it seemed none elegant, as if they hadnt practised it well.
The girls seems happy and that they enjoyed alot, and unlike other BDs Wakana didnt seem tired, which i think is a very good thing :)
