:uh..: I really hope I'm not going to be disappointed by this live... Serenato is one of my favorite Kalafina songs...

I think what just really bothers me is that while Kalafina is a GROUP, they still need people to sing chorus. That just bothers me so much. I know that they aren't the only group to do that, but most musical groups just do everything themselves.

And so that's why I don't like hearing the live performances where they sing EVERYTHING by themselves when they really need a track or whatever. I didn't even like Lacrimosa that much either; I didn't particularly care for Hikaru being the only voice I heard during the chorus.

I am afraid I dont get what you mean :confu:
You first say that most groups do everything themselves, but then you are bothered that Kalafina do the same in lives.

can you explain further?

:confu: Yes, that was quite confusing, mi_feng. Care to elaborate or clarify? I think you meant that you are annoyed that Kalafina's chorus is only done by them during lives. Am I right?

I think I understand what mi_feng means. But, in a sense, that is Kajiura's fault. When she does the song, she does not think of the shows. Hence, she has three girls but still sings along, and other songs have Kaida and even Hanae. That is bad for shows because they are not able to perform everything that the real song had. That also happens because the kajiurago parts have many effects on them, making it difficult to be performed live. Thus, Hikaru's kajiurago in Lacrimosa after the chorus seems a bit...blank, because in the playback it had effects and also Tomaru was singing with her. I don't like that as well...sometimes I think that is why Seventh Heaven is my favorite song by Kalafina. No one singing with the three, just them doing everything, from leading voices to the harmony.

some songs are alright in live, but chorus heavy songs do tend to lack oomph sometimes

this is why i prefer FJ formation to Kalafina formation, more singers = better sounding choruses.

Haha. Sorry.
I mean that all of the choruses in their their recordings (singles, albums) should be THEM. Not Yuriko. Not Yuki. Not Hanae Tomaru. It should be Wakana, Hikaru and Keiko.
And I don't like that they do the chorus in the lives because it wasn't their voices originally in the song, and so there's always something lacking. For example, in Lacrimosa, Hikaru does most of the chorus by herself, and you lose the feel of the original because she just doesn't have the voice for that kind of stuff. Meanwhile, Wakana has the potential to do it, but because she does most of the main vocals, she can't.

The bad thing is, when Kajiura creates the songs for Kalafina, she probably does not think of how it will sound live. She just puts Kaida or Tomaru or whoever is necessary in order to make the recording sound good, but in the end, they will not appear in the show. Hence, the songs that have those singers will always be lacking live. And that is why I agree with you mi_feng. Not only because of that, but also because three members is more than enough. I do not see any reason whatsoever to include more singers.

Exactly. Since she has a number of singers already, I don't understand why she doesn't use them for the chorus too. To me, it's like Kalafina consists of Wakana, Hikaru, Keiko and Yuriko (especially in Seventh Heaven). :uh..:

Even Kagayaku Sora no Shijima ni wa bothered me because they put in Yuriko for like... 10 seconds in the bridge. We've heard Hikaru sing higher notes before, I think she could've handled it, or just switched it with Wakana.

Whatever. I love Yuki and her songs, but the arrangement of the vocals on some of them are just... ehhhhh. :blood:

why are you so severe with the serenato live? :confu:
hikaru's energetic theatrical singing style is pretty unique, so it's understandable if some people dislike it, but...ehh ALL of you do it!?

Yes because it sound bad, regardless her look and performance and how she acts. She pushes too hard on her voice and covered most of Keiko's low chorus and Wakana's main vocal. (But that could be the sound person's or system's fault too.) Wakana did not start off well but gets better after first chorus verse.

Confirmed, most MCs were cut, including the best MCs about tofu. :blood:

Consolation? Kalafina in HK documentary. :XD:
