Kalafina 10th single"to the beginning"(Fate/Zero OP2)

nice cover :D
i like the dress
still don't like wakana's hair
her hair in stone cold's better

Umm...I like the second half. But I still have to say that Hikaru is holding this song together for me. She adds a calming balance to the extream ends (ex. if Wakana goes really high Hikaru "pulls it back" toward the middle, or if Keiko goes really low she "lifts it up") and that smooths out some of the roughness in the structure of the song - to me at least.

I really like Wakana's solo part near the end. Maybe because there is less going on around her voice so its less harsh than at other points in the song (ex. the build up toward the chorus - its just over the top to me)

I do have to say/agree this song is "Sprinter-ish" but not in the best way (and Sprinter is my favorite song :nosebleed: ) the emotion seems over done to the point that I don't feel it (I'm probably just cold hearted :confu:). Its still beautiful and I enjoy it. PV wise...they all look incredible.

I'm pleased. I'm still going to get the single when I'm over there, hopefully go to the concert if I can get tickets before it's sold out (probably is already  ) IDK...at this point I'm just happy they're still together and Yuki's making music.

End.

Never would I have imagined that a comparison between Keiko and a demon from Devil Survivor would come to exist! LOL

My first reaction when I see Keiko in that cover is... "WTH is Keiko looked like Moh Shuyuu thereeeeee????" :omg: And her hair there is obviously photoshopped. The bad quality one, actually. What's the purpose of that flying hair?

^ it's a non-existent breeze to make it look dramatic...or Keiko's hair is so amazing that it defies gravity :XD:

I love this song! And i agree with whoever said that WAKANA's solo line (kireina tsuki no hikari ga....) sounded strange and strained.... to me it was as if she was struggling to hit those high notes.... It sounded forced to me... not at all natural. I won't deny that she can sing at a high range; she's done it nicely in the past. But in this song, it's not kind to my ears.

I think it's because she was trying to sing them quietly to suit the mood of that part rather than belting the notes out like in the chorus when she sings those same lines. She can belt them out so she doesn't sound as strained because the chorus is very driving and fast but in the solo part she tried to sing high without being too loud and powerful (before switching back to belting the notes out when Hikaru and Keiko and the rest of the accompaniment came in). I liked it, though, even if it was strained - I thought it added emotion to the solo...

Also... what is the purpose of having HIKARU in this song (besides the fact that she is part of "Kalafina")?? I feel like Kajiura just gave her random lines to sing just for the sake of having her in the song...

I used to think the same thing about Wakana in destination unknown... :XD: ...but yeah, Hikaru does a lot of important harmonising throughout the song like what Rage and garnetjester said, her middle line balances it all out and adds...er...more depth, I guess? Well, the song wouldn't quite sound complete perhaps with only Wakana and Keiko...

^one of my favorite lines is towards the end: "kirei na tsuki no hikari wa
tada shizuka ni hajimari he kuchite yuku yo"
I actually like how Wakana is singing that part, even if it does sound strained. It might be what was intended. :dote: Also I am liking Keiko's parts more now, except maybe the beginning.

Yeaaaahhhh I really love her solo part...I thought she sounded tender yet angsty too...and though it was maybe a bit strained it wasn't unpleasant to listen to for me... :shy:

I won't deny that I think her hair in stone cold was absolutely the best look she ever had... :shy: :shy: :shy:

...but I like her hair in this one too~ :sohappy:

February, 2009: Parallel Hearts.
February, 2010: Toki no Mukou, Maboroshi no Sora.
February, 2011: Gatherway.

At this year's begining Yuki is like: "Oh, I guess it's time to write some FJ stuff :sohappy: But then, February comes and FJ isn't assinged to anything: "Oh, FJ wasn't called to perform any theme songs till now... :desksweat: Oh, I think I'll just use this as Kalafina's next work and see what happens" :sohappy:

LOL, could that be what happened? XD This song is totally FJ. As I only listened to it less than five times, I won't do any deeper analysis, but the violin melody reminds me a lot of PH (maybe even the chord progression is alike), and the verses, chorus, everything...FJ for sure. Until now, I find to be kinda weaker than it's "elder twins", but maybe it'll grow on me. The bridge felt kinda boring, too long, but I think I like the way it goes to the end of the song without going back to verse or something. But it feels weird to hear Kala singing this, it doesn't feel like their style.

Can't you feel the importance of harmony? I can hear Keiko is crying :TdT:

reminds me of this monster from Shin Megami Tensei Devil Survivor :

LOL :XD: You have a point. Comparing Keiko to a demon does sound awkward, but then again, in SMT series, "demon" is the general name for whatever mythical creature is encountered there. This one's Moh Shuvuu from Buryatian folklore. I only saw her in Strange Journey so far (mostly due to me only having played that game yet), and in communication, her personality is that of a young girl. :XD:

Nick Hunter's Imagination Theater presents:

2010, while making Ookamikakushi...
Ookamikakushi producer: Kajiura-san, I heard the OP you composed for Pandora Hearts, and it sounds great. Very close to what we need for our series. Since you're planning to bring FJ here, could you make something similar? :ayashii:
Yuki: Why, of course, if that's necessary. :V:

2011, while making Senritsu no Stratus...
Senritsu no Stratus producer: Kajiura-san, what this game needs is an opening theme with beautiful voices and violin, like those recent ones you made for Pandora Hearts and Ookamikakushi. Could you please make a song like those? :plz:
Yuki: Er, sure, I'll be glad to. :innocent:

2012, while making Fate/Zero S2...
Iwakami: Great job on the ED, it's gonna be amazing. Now let's discuss the opening theme. Oath Sign was upbeat and powerful, and since you've kindly agreed to compose the second opening theme, Kajiura-san, what comes to mind is those FictionJunction songs you've been writing lately. How about we use a FictionJunction song akin to Parallel Hearts, Toki no Mukou and Eternal Blue? :plot:
Yuki: But FJ is assigned to Flying Dog, we can't bring and market them as a whole band here. :confu:
Iwakami: but half the FJ is also enlisted in Kalafina, right? I'm sure they can handle such a song just fine. :sparkleguy:
Yuki: Mmm... :waa: OK, this may be an interesting take on things. :ayashii:

Just another way to see it. :XD: :XD: :XD:

^ LoL

yea make sense :XD:

Parallel hearts, Toki No Mukou, Stone Cold, Eternal Blue..

and To The Beginning are my favorites

:TdT:

really my type of song :tea:

Finally got the PV and can't watch it because of video falling behind audio. Screw both my PC and its graphics card... I thought updating the latter was unnecessary except for games! :bloodlust:
Hopefully I've got a converter that reads ts files. :plot:

@KP-X: she's one of the people who turned my view of music upside down, her style contains almost everything I [sub]consciously wanted to hear and she's the author of a whole number of songs that leave me eargasming. Even if I weren't complacent, I'd be ready to cut such a composer quite a bit of slack. :tea:

Song: don't like the FJ-esque sound. I liked some bits, but as a whole it felt cobbled together.
I do think people new to Kalafina's music will enjoy it.

PV in onions:

:leaf:

:spotlight:
:wet:

They look fine, but it was boring. Ah well, best not to expect too much of Kalafina PVs anyway.

:sohappy: I would believe that full heartedly, bravo!!!! love your world :ohoho:

That is how I see the song too. I am like 'is this really Kalafina and not some other band (FJ or otherwise)? There's Keiko, yep Hikaru and Wakana. So it must be.' lol I really like the drums in this song, compared to some of the FJ ones. Now that I have listened to it more the instrumental part is really simple. There really isn't much piano, but the other instruments compliment each other nicely. Just my thoughts. :dote:
