Kajiuras music quality is dropping?

You're so lucky alarictay!
I wish we could ever see Yuri on a FJ's DVD as aguest vocal :shy:

I'm not going to say much, because I know I'll probably end up not being able to explain myself :XD: But pretty much, I don't think that Kajiura-sensei's quality is dropping. There are times that she repeats herself, and some times are more noticeable than others, but no matter what I enjoy her songs, and in my opinion the quality's still there. I'll always love her music, and I hope others will too! :dote:

I don't think the quality of her music is dropping either.
It's true that she repeats herself, but that doesn't necessarily mean that her music is less enjoyable..
Some people even tell me "Why do you keep listening to those songs? They're all the same!"
Well... I don't care, I still like them! :sohappy:
Even Mozart repeated himself (over and over and over again) and is still considered a genius... And - most importantly - it's been aknowledged that it is just his style!
Please don't start insulting me for what I said, I know it's something entirely differnt from a musical pov... :imdead:
As regards the whole her-new-music-is-not-as-good-as-her-older-works-thing.. I think it's almost unavoidable to think this way, but it doesn't apply only to Kajiura sama. When you really like an artist you tend to sublimate the cds that made you fall in love with them and to always compare new compositions with the older ones. Now, honestly I don't think Kajiura sama's music has changed that much, but I may be wrong. Of course she has grown as a person over the years and that certainly influenced her writing, too.
I don't know if I'm able to explain what I mean, but just think about salva nos, mezame and M15+16+17 from Kara no Kyoukai OST 6 (all of them battle themes and therefore easy to compare)...
To me there's always something tipical of her music. Still, it's also very clear that her music has been changing.
...but I don't think I can be any more unbiased than this, I just like her music too much :nosebleed:
*"huge fan" mode ON* :fan:

compared to Yuki's new songs, i feel that Yuki's old songs from FJ era and back are more emotional and touching.

im not saying her music quality is dropping or i dont like her new musics, but i feel that i like her old music style with more touching and emotional senses. :tea:

And today Kalfina songs seems to be more a "happy song" :dote:

i hope my comment will not trigger something :tea:

To be honest, I believe Kajiura's music started effing up after the Mai-Otome era. I use to anxiously await her new soundtracks and such but now I only download the songs she has composed for Kalafina and FJ. Hell, I even use to just watch certain anime because Kajiura was the composer of the soundtrack. I even bought the Petite Cossette OST before even watching the anime. After the Mai-Otome era, I think the best "kajiuran" song she has created is walk on your destiny. I find everything else to be repetitive and boring. Also, the songs she has created for Kalafina is just the same shit over and over again. Main Vocals: Wakana + Hikaru. Background: Keiko. She has this annoying ass mindset where sopranos are the pride and glory of the music world and altos should be there to support their wambulance sounding asses. And what the hell is up with her always using a violin? Violin solo after violin solo after violin solo. What the hell happened to the viola? Most of you call her creative but in my opinion, she now just fits in with the rest of the composers you try to set her a part from.
I miss the days of See-Saw. I miss the days of FICTION. I miss 2001 - 2005. If she composes another song like open your heart ~reprise~ I'd respect her again but that future looks bleak. o3o

I completely agree with you.

This is why I like FJYuuka the best out of her ~jpop projects: the songs are more "emotional." For example, there's "futari" and "rokugatsu wa kimi no eien": they're both beautiful songs and they both make me feel the emotion in them. When I first heard them a couple of years ago, I had no idea what the lyrics meant, but I could still understand in a way because of the emotion.

To be honest, I cannot get this same emotion out of Kalafina songs. Yes, they are usually very well composed, but I can never be as engaged in their songs as FJ's.
And the weak usage of Keiko? Ughhh.
I'm sorry, but I'm tired of Wakana's voice (Hikaru too, but Wakana more). They both have lovely voices, but you can only hear so much after a while... Yuki has a whole other vocalist available within the group, but most of the parts she gives her are chorus.
If that's the case, why not make Yuriko a part of Kalafina too? I mean, she does some sort of chorus in 80% of Kalafina songs. :plot:

And the violin thing annoys me a bit as well. Yes, it's a rather versatile instrument which is why it fits in most songs, but there ARE other instruments out there that can be tried.

What I miss the most are her older osts. The styles of the older ones are certainly very different from the newer ones... I feel like they all generally have more depth.

I want more FJYuuka, and I want more old style kajiuran songs.

YES! YURIKO KAIDA FOR KALAFINA.

I fail to get tired if violin solos, and I feel more than alright with Wakana. Looks like I completely fall out of this conversation. :rain:
And it's so actual to speak of Yuki'd stagnation, when a fresh anime episode just booms in a total of THREE potential classics... :plot: But of course, your mileage may vary...

While I don't really agree with many things said here, what has been said here isn't that Wakana (or Hikaru) is the problem. It's Keiko (or more precisely, the lack of Keiko as main singer). Keiko has a wonderful voice that could lead to amazing songs with her as lead, but Kajiura doesn't do that because she simply doesn't want or because the kind of songs she is composing nowadays don't fit in Keiko's voice. And since Keiko herself presents herself in the interviews as having a support role in the trio, it is unlikely that this will change at all.
Personally I would like Keiko to have more participation as lead vocal, but since I love her backs I don't have many problems with the current situation.

Thankfully, she does get to do a decent number of lead vocals in the lives. But yeah, I agree. And what's the deal with Nohara?!?!? Keiko's lead vocals get completely overpowered by Wakana and Kaori on chorus in the latter half of the song!!!

rather than "REPETITIVE", I'd like to suggest the term "DISTINCTIVE" to define Kajiura's music. Easily recognizable music doesn't necessarily mean it's bad, does it? :tea:

Yup, her Musics is distinctive, that is what makes her musics interesting.

and thats why i liked her musics up until now :dote:

Doesn't really mean good too... <__<
distinctive =/= repetitive.
unique style can be repetitive too.
It's like ... umm... an indian curry. Distinctive, but eating it everyday will be boring and repetitive >__>.
We need something mixed, new.

"Kajiura doesn't do that because she simply doesn't want " ---> well, she said, she loves high pitched voices.
"or because the kind of songs she is composing nowadays don't fit in Keiko's " ---> ... wakana + hikaru = violin + guitar.

So my question is why doesn't Kajiura just transform Kalafina into a two member group consisting of Wakana and Hikaru and just put Keiko in the same seat as Kaida? :/ That's really what Keiko mostly does.
