Earthquake & Tsunami in Japan 2011: Pray for Japan

Re: Pray for Japan

There was an explosion at one of the nuclear stations. :omg:
Darn, I can't believe this is happening...
At least, good to hear from all who are safe. The waves are retreating slowly, and I was surprised to hear that Tokyo subway manages to work somehow. But the deathtoll is about 1000, and according to Euronews, 2000 are still missing... :leaf:

Can someone give us a definitive number? Just read 500 deaths and 700 missing.

Seems like authorities are downplaying the events at Fukushima a little bit. Perhaps for a good cause also (since most of the mainstream media love to harp on such things, regardless of how trivial).

On a note about the nuke reactor, "expert opinion" says that the power station (as an asset) is now deemed a write off (due to their using of seawater to cool the reactor cores).

@Rafael: No one knows for sure at the moment as all the information are coming in only in drips and draps. There are even "official" reports that only a combined total of 1700 are missing or dead.

The problem with the official reports is that they can only estimate so much. There are a lot of areas where rescyoue efforts still continue, and some areas where they are not even possible to undertake sufficiently. Plus communication breakdowns. Plus those lost trains... And then, the average age number in Japan is very high, and just thinking how easy it is for older people to get dangerous injuries... Scratch it, I don't want to think about it...
As to the reactor, let's pray things will play out relatively right. One Russian expert stated that the situation in Fukushima is different from Chernobyl, so at least a catastrophe of SIMILAR scale is really unlikely. It was mainly Chernobyl that caused people to project stations with more safety measures. Besides, Chernobyl disaster had a fair bit of human factor as well. On the other hand, there are no earthquakes in Ukraine (and no tsunamis either), so comparing the circumstances is a headache... Regardless, Fukushima is already a place you'd think ten times before settling in. :uh..:

I hope this sea water technique does good, 'cause it sounds risky. Where are those generators and cooling liquids?

Japanese people must be kinda glad they didn't purged the US base at Okinawa, I suppose...

Side note: Looks like artistes/composers/producers like Hitoshi Sakimoto are going to embark on a song-writing effort dedicated to this event.

Good way to boost the morale of the populace, IMO. :goodjob:

Jasmin, did you get to talk to your family? :uh..: Hope they are all fine.

Yeah, let us know the updates, Jasmin. We're all praying for some good information.

On a different note (I know this is going to be kind of a rant but I can't help it)...

I can't stand these morons (and they are morons and possibly worse) that are going to other forums and fansubbing sites and they are more concerned about their anime airing. :stupidtable: :voodoo:

...Sorry...just had to get that out of my system...

But I am concerned with that, also. :XD: Geez, Madoka is almost over.

BTW, I guess animes kept being aired, anyway. At least some of them.

Worse than being concerned about animes airing are the ones who keeps saying this or that person is dead. Trollers.

More tremors indicated at the site of explosion... Murphy can be posthumously proud, his laws are at work forever. :blood:
Concerning aforementioned morons, looks like the situation didn't quite sink in everyone's mind yet. And no comments about those trolls... :bloodlust:

:nophoto:

Oh boy, it's like the whole building walls melted! :blood:

Things are okay in Russia, right, Alphie?

I've seen some videos and photos of what happened :uh..: Poor people...

To Rafael: it's ok, thanks. Seems that it was just a warning. Nothing has happened, thanks god.

That's good. :sohappy:

:uh..:

But, still, those never-ending aftershocks are a nuisance! If I could, I would beat this earthquake to death... :uh..: :blood:

How is the situation af Fukushima II? There are only news about reactor I.
