Complain about all!

ohhhhh boy IB. The Alleluia CDs will forever remind me of my EE for the same reason
what classes are you taking, out of curiosity?

Ugh yeah, IB is painful... :hide:
And I took IB Environmental Systems (SL) last year, but this year I'm taking IB Spanish (SL), Math (SL), English (HL), and Global Politics (HL). So all those, plus AP Calc and AP Spanish, AND college apps...:ghost::ghost::punched::barf::faint:

@sarasara have fun running without sleep for the next year...

I took enviro and that class is partially the reason I'm minoring in sustainability now/definitely the reason I'm not a science major bc those lab reports were the death of me

on an unrelated note: I could really use a break right about now

@sarasara @aki Ahh, good ol' IB, my school has it too. Though I'm still too young to qualify for the program (starts in 11th grade and I'm in 9th), my brother is taking it and it seems to be a ton of work. He's also complaining about the Extended Essay as well :XD:
(I would fail at that because I'm not great at writing :comeback:). My hardest class for this year would by far be AP World History. I have at least 1.5 hours of notes to take every night, and the fact that I have it 1st period bright and early at 7:20 am each morning doesn't help either. Though I really like learning about history and think it's very interesting, the time in which it takes place is really annoying because I'm still asleep :faint:

Also my "paddle pot" (basically a vase sort of thing that you use paddles to shape the the clay) in my art class is quite literally looking like a slightly diamond-shaped potato right now. I suck at pottery, so pretty much for this project (and the next from what I've heard) I'm just gonna have to suffer through, and will have to take the hits to my grade that come with it. Why can't next semester come faster so I can do the 2D intro course

Same...

@Westkana it is a lot of work, but so is AP. Just depends on whether you do better with essays or MC, honestly. And it's not like I did well on my EE - I made a C

why the hell do you have class at 7:20 in the morning

It's so the county school system can have all the bases run routes for 3 different schools each day, and save money. Though it's incredibly annoying to have to force myself to wake up at 6:15 every morning to catch the bus at 6:30 (and I'm at the END of the route, I think it starts at 6), I also get out really early (at 2:10) and have the rest of the afternoon to do whatever.

Lol yeah, I thought the class was really interesting, but unfortunately the teacher at our school is famous for being terrible, so no one really ended up learning anything, and we all just ultimately hated the class, which really sucked D:

and ugh, same

Well, if you're gonna do IB, make sure to choose something interesting for the EE. I chose to write about Nintendo and how they impacted the video game industry, so it can kinda be interesting if you put in effort to make it interesting, but yeah it still is an insane amount of work. I can't wait until I graduate this year until it's finally done ugh.

And I took AP World too! I remember how tough it was. Don't worry, AP Euro and AP US were a LOT easier, at least for me.

And I know the feeling of getting up that early, last year I had an early period which meant I had MATH at 7 am every single day. It was literally awful. Thankfully this year I have one less class so my school starts at 8 like a normal person lol

Ugh, early morning classes. WHY. With all these studies lately saying that it's very wrong to start school or work before 10am [citation needed, too lazy to research right now but google sensei might be helpful enough]

Plus I'm self-diagnosed with delayed sleep phase disorder. It's not an official diagnosis, but if you go and read the Wikipedia article about it, it's pretty much describing my sleep habits. Until a few years ago, when it got recognized as a sleep disorder, I thought I was always that weirdo that couldn't go to bed or wake up at any decent time.

I've also self diagnosed myself with that, I can't properly function before 9-10am or so. Nothing goes in and I always feel horrible that early, even if I've had plenty of sleep.

Naturally my shifts yesterday and today are 9-6, which requires me to be up at 7. Might as well just void that first hour of my shift since nothing is going to be of much help, but it keeps happening.

@Seasonreaper 9-10am? Wow, that's early. For me it's rather sometime between 11 and 12 normally, but there are days where I simply can't even wake up before noon.

Oh, that's still just a time when I can start to gain some semblance of consciousness if I need to. My natural waking up time if I have no alarms or anything is usually between 11 and 12, sometimes later. I very, very rarely feel tired before at least 1am either.

It's nothing new either, been having similar patterns and symptoms since I was a small child.

Yeah, these are also my usual sleeping and waking times, and I've also had that since I was a child. I almost don't know how it feels to go to bed because I'm tired from just the day, it usually happens either because I've been doing something exhausting or because I'm jetlagged. My day/night cycle also seems to be way longer than 24 hours, so if left alone without any willpower, I tend to drift and sleep later every day, until I sleep in the morning, Kajiura-style, and decide to do something to fix it. I never dared to see where (and if) it would stabilize.

For two years I tried working in an office under a "normal" 9-to-5 schedule. My daily commute was also only 15-20 minutes long, so I was lucky. I still never managed to feel really awake before noon, except the semblance of consciousness that you described. What's worse, I was suffering from headaches and exhaustion, like Wikipedia sensei says, especially during the winter, where inadequate daylight made it much worse (the lack of proper daylight seems to influence me much more than the average person). I was basically a zombie on Thursdays and especially Fridays and I was longing for Friday night, where I could sleep 12 hours. I am now working remotely and my working hours are fairly flexible, so I'm much more productive. In university I often just skipped first term. In school we had afternoon-only lessons every other week, so it made everything much more bearable. However, in the morning I'd often fall asleep during class, and even have Kajiura-style long dreams in the few seconds that I was asleep.

My first semester of Japanese classes was also in the morning, 9 to 11, because I started late and all other classes were full. Needless to say I had missed almost half of my lessons and it took forever to catch up.

BTW, I have downloaded the "Sleep as Android" application on my phone, which I found to be extremely helpful during my office days. You can configure it to allow up to a certain amount of snoozes, and also to not stop ringing unless it scans a QR code, which I printed and placed in the bathroom. It can also try to wake you up at the end of a sleep cycle, but that never works for me, I never fail to be in my deepest sleep early in the morning. Not that I'm really awake after going to the bathroom and brushing my teeth (what shower? I shower during the night in order to gain these 5 minutes in the morning), but once I've done that, I've gathered enough consciousness to not "go directly to bed, do not pass Go, do not collect today's wage".

1/3 of the state is evacuating bc of Matthew.....
Weird... from Weather Underground's storm tracker it seems to be only scratching the east coast, but no where near a direct hit for any state. Jacksonville and Charlston seem to be the only big cities being hit

Also kinda unrelated but know around 4 people named Matthew, one of which being my own brother, so I think it's hilarious that yet another thing is being called Matthew :XD:

I think there's a fear of major flooding similar to what happened last fall. but it does look like the projections are shifting east and it's gone down to a category 3 hurricane

It would be good to have 2 days off in a row without dropping actual working hours. All the work that I've done lately seems to have gone towards bills and the lack of two or more days off in a row turns one into a zombie /-:.

I was scrolling through these and saw IB

Then I remembered about my personal project (Part of Australia's SACE program since my school only does MYP)

I haven't started it at all since all my assignments are always given and due on the same days. It's due midway through the first term next year. I'm so screwed. Thank god I picked a topic I'm already knowledgeable on.

My PE teacher also handed out an assignment due in Week 3 of next term. I'd be lying if I said I cared. I don't get graded in PE because of my disability.

I also never even did or handed up my science assignment last term because I was always doing other work during science. I was also sick.

I'm REALLY gonna have to pull my weight next term.

How did I get all 6's in my report with 7's for Italian and history?!

I swear sometimes I stare at my grades and I have no goddam clue how I got them.

Better than me, who studies super hard for tests for a week straight and ends up getting a 50% on it (Damn Spanish) :ghost:

(Btw, I love your sig!!)

Thank you. I find when studying for tests I take lots of notes while teachers explain things during lessons before hand. Their are also plenty of quizzes and games on certain aspects of a language ( things like duolingo and conjugemos come to mind. I've never used duolingo but my friends seem to like it. Conjugemos is a website which helps for revision on conjugation. It has Italian, French and Spanish)

If you're ever doing a presentation whee you speak in Spanish I'd recommend listening to lots of radio, news or music in the language. Listening to the pronunciation will help with your own.

I guess I'm partially lucky. Having Italian grandparents the language seems to come easily ( even though I knew absolutely nothing till I started a few years ago. )

Well first complaint is that I haven't been here in awhile, due to being busy with appointments. I am finally getting somewhere with my feet issues though, though it will still take awhile. I hope that I am at least better with that by Jan. I don't want to stay in the hotel other than the concert, of course. We are going to Vegas too, which is a lot of walking. Ugh. If I could just be admitted in the hospital until everything is fixed. heh (That would be a ton of money though.)

All you people talking about school. Ahhh I don't have to go anymore! But right now I am not even looking for work because of my issues. I can't stay on the computer for very long, so I'm not sure how I am going to keep a receptionist type job. I want to get a job so badly though so I can stop burdening my parents and move out and get a kitty. (Though my mom said if we move to the condo then I can get one!) I just feel helpless a lot. I can't do housework like I used to. And new things keep cropping up, like my lower back now is acting up. It might be sciatica, but not sure.

I also am not a morning person, by any means. If I have to get up early, I will. But my body wakes me up at around 8:30/9 a.m. because of pain. so I have to get out of bed and ice or whatever. I would always sleep until around 11, but I am kind of glad since now I essentially have more time in the afternoon, unless I am running to appointments, which seems to be lately. This week is so crazy. Thurs is my only day to relax. I don't have training or my massage so I am going to be very cranky. heh So I may not be around much this week. *sigh*
