Akiko Shikata

I was very disapointed with this DVD too. :rain: I really like some new arrangements (especially Kalliope, I think I like it more than original). I didn't mind her awkwardness that much - she's too cute.:shy:

When it comes to "singing" I only liked some black utahime songs. When she used her whispery-like voice it looked especially fake. But I think it's good to know that she can sing with her "male voice". Kowarero is probably my fav performance.

Could you please upload encore songs and ee wassa sos yehar audio only (or whole bootleg if it's not a trouble)? I can't find it anywhere.

I'm thinking of doing a bootleg mix for the entire DVD so you can watch with video, though probably not this weekend. I'll up the encores this evening.

Honestly? I'm not seeing much desync, from the Akakaushi/Sorisso videos or from the Laylania version of Luna Piena (the songs I've seen so far). Even if I did see it, I don't think I'd really care. You can tell Shikata is huge on sound editing if you listen to any of her albums, people should really have expected that coming in.

I didn't expect or want this concert to be ~Shikata's perfect unblemished live voice~. I wanted an enjoyable setlist with new mixes, and maybe a show with the stage presence she displayed in the HATS live way back. What I've seen so far seems really promising on the first point, at least.

I cannot watch this DVD as it is. The difference between what I'm seeing and what I'm hearing is bothering me too much. If you're not seeing/hearing it (or simply don't care), I'm honestly full of envy that you can enjoy this release.

*hi5s ritobazu* At least one person understands my kimochis.~

could you recommend some akito shikata songs you like? i'm new to her but i think from what I have heard I may like her :)

Yes, it's actually the thing for which I am really looking forward... in her cd's. VII, EXEC_FLIP_ARPHAGE/. and her other "epic" songs with a lot of chorus work are some of my absolute favourite Shikata songs but I would hate setlist with such songs mostly because I don't think live performances would make them any better - they are just too perfect imo.

What I want from her live dvd are those simpler but also pretty cool songs with new arrangments and instrument solos. You know, cut all the chorus from songs like Utakata no Hana and let her actually sing them (yeah, I know I shouldn't expect much from live DVD). She's more than capable for a really amazing and/or powerful performance on her albums without a lot of editing and she actually make songs without that much chorus and a few of them were on this setlist.

I liked new Sorriso and Kalliope BUT that's only if I listen to them. I can't really believe it's a real performance - I see how she sing but I've got a feeling I'm hearing something different. I couldn't even watch white utahime part for a second time, I would rather only listen to it. And It's a shame because she's really beautiful (and awkward but I honestly don't mind).

I don't think I'm oversensitive or something. I watched quite a few lives and I never had such problem. I didn't even expected or wanted for her to be perfect - I just wanted to enjoy a real performance, even if her music in original version doesn't seem to be good for that. But I believe she can arrange and perform them decently.

I'm really looking forward Grunty's mixes. I guess I must enjoy this DVD in audio-only version. :uh..: And btw - it's good to know that I'm not the only one Shikata fan who loves EXEC_EP=NOVA/.

Concert 2013 LAYLANIA Bootleg mix 4 DVD :fan: (the usual pass)

Synced to the DVD so if you have encodes you may need to delay it on your own. For example you need to add 33 seconds to the first disc if you have Audio Commentary mp4s from apple@baidu. Delaycut recommended for padding since it doesn't reencode mp3s.

Props to the original uploader of the bootleg.

ahahahaha kill me now

I was just digging up info on the staff when grunty posted. A no-name doing series composition, the director is untested (credited with direction on a series of shorts and a lot of key animation/storyboarding on okay stuff), the character designs are atrocious, and frankly Sunrise in general is more miss than hit.

And god help me I'm going to watch it just for the soundtrack. Hopefully the show itself is at least funny-bad.

Anyway, moving to show composer is a pretty interesting career move.

Wow! I cant wait to see how the OST will turn out :sohappy: , even though the music featured in this PV is the typical upbeat Akiko song.

that anime looks like gundam x senritsu no stratos mecha wise, because there are big piloted robots but the pilot gets out to fight too :XD:

It does look pretty HOHUM but hey, still better than Crystal. :p

Well, she has been doing game BGMs from time to time (Hanakisou, Ciel nosurge)... The PV track worries me cause of how 'thin' it sounds (in addition to the terrible editing for the PV). Fingers crossed it turns out good on CD. I'm happy I have a soundtrack to look forward to.

PS: ETA til the new Ciel nosurge song pops up on the interwebs? Also, OST2 and Genometric concert 3 announcements where?

Shikata was primary composer for Ciel nosurge? I've paid almost no attention to the nosurge stuff, I thought it was the GUST sound team as primary and Shikata composing her own songs like Ar Tonelico.

I'm not particularly into the PV song either, it sounds a bit too similar to some stuff off Turaida and, yeah, it's too plain/thin.

There's no breakdown in the OST booklet for every track but yea, she's listed as "Composer" in the Ciel nosurge game credits and OST along with SSS-Solid State Signal-OOOOPS TEAM WEEDS. She's also the "Sound director". Ar nosurge OST was done by the regular GUST team on the other hand.

Edit: Here's what I just googled on Ciel nosurge:
While the album itself doesn’t offer a composer breakdown, most of it was also made available as an in-game jukebox with composer comments that allow the players and listeners to know who composed which song. Thanks to this, it’s known that Akiko Shikata, aside of being one of the main vocalists for the Genometric Concerts songs as well as composing and arranging several of the songs in there, is also the sound director for the game and the main composer of the instrumental music. She is joined by Yu Shimoda, whose compositions were unfortunately not featured in this album, and a newcomer that goes by the rather lengthy alias SSS-Solid State Signal-OOPS TEAM WEEDS. Kohta Takahashi has used SolidState as an alias in the past, but I’m not sure if this is him.

The review at least seems to suggest some tracks she did.

Ciel nosurge #12 song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ur5Nv6UXd4U (stolen from A Reyvateils Melody), don't expect anything new from it though, if you've been following AT/*nosurge it's exactly what you would expect from a finale happening at the Singing Hill.

Also Cross Ange seems to be confirmed for 25 episodes.
