Akiko Shikata

Got the CD today and, uh, I think this might be the first time I was disappointed with a Shikata CD. I like #5-8 the best but the rest is really hit/miss. Hope it's not the beginning of the end for my Shikata fandom.

Here's an interview of Masato Kouda, composer of Square Enix I think, he also recently composed for Aoki Hagane no Arpeggio and will for this winter's "Mahou Sensou". The interview is in french and kind of old (2010) but at one point he is asked about his involvement in Akiko Shikata's "Istoria Musa" album and I think his answer is interesting. btw google traslation's translation of french to englishi s pretty good imo http://squaremusic.blogspot.gr/2010/04/ ... unter.html

Small update on upcoming Shikata stuff.

January 30, 2014:
Ciel nosurge World Pack Vol. 10 (new game chapter with a new Shikata song)

March 5, 2014:
Ar nosurge Genometric Concert side.Blue (Akiko Shikata, ORIGA)
Ar nosurge Genometric Concert side.Red (Haruka Shimotsuki, Yoshino Nanjo, Noriko Mitose)
Ar nosurge OST (GUST)
(rescheduled from January 30, 2014)

March 26, 2014:
Concert 2013 LAYLANIA ~Black and White~ DVD
Ciel nosurge OST Vol. 2
Ciel nosurge Genometric Concert Vol. 3 (Akiko Shikata, Yoshino Nanjo, yoko)

(disappeared from shop listings today)

Ar nosurge was supposed to be released this month but was pushed back to March 6, 2014. The OST and Concerts now have no date listed. Who knows, maybe they also schedule them for March 26 but the preview CD from Comiket 85 (Genometric Concert Side.Sora) only mentions "Spring, 2014" for them.

Opening movie (Utanaki Oka e-Harmonics Pre=Ciel-): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KHBBzTIHAh4&t=1296

Ciel nosurge OST2 and Genometric Concert 3 disappeared from shop listings the day after they pushed Ar nosurge back for some reason. FML.

I completely agree. ;) It's kind of the reason I didn't post it 2 months ago when it first came out - just a new (uninspired IMHO) version of Utanaki Oka e from Ciel nosurge (which I actually liked), which in turn wasn't that different from the Ar tonelico opening, Utau Oka.

Considering Utau Oka itself had 6 arranges over the years (3 opening versions, each with a different long arrange) at this point I'm treating the new openings with just nostalgia values rather than "new song" excitement.

I guess they are not really Shikata songs per se. All of them are composed and arranged by Akira Tsuchiya (I don't know his work outside Ar tonelico/surge concerto but maybe he's a 1 trick/melody/ pony?), with Shikata only doing chorus arrangements.

I really wish Genometric Concert Side.Sora previewed one of her actual in-game songs but it only had the OP. I did enjoy Origa's song so I'm looking forward to more from Side.Blue.

The live tracklist looks pretty solid from what I recognize offhand, but SUBLIMATION~ee wassa sos yehar is odd. I would have expected omness chs ciel sos infel if there were any part of the SUBLIMATION suite. Placing it so close to the end is interesting as well.

Still, it's cool Shikata has the rights to at least some of her songs with Gust. Ahih rei-yah is an Ar nosurge song, right?

edit: What were the encore songs, anyway?

Ahih rei-yah is Ciel nosurge ;)

LAYLANIA and EXEC_PAJA/.#Misya_extracting were the encore songs.

Someone was kind enough to post Ar nosurge genometric concerts rips over here (near the bottom).

Any chance that anyone has the 2 albums released on march 5th?
Can't wait for it >_<

Look in the post above yours.

Edit: Oh it died already, kek.

Believe the onion :ayashii: (from 4chan)

So I watched the live DVD. It's simply not good for many reasons. First off they cut all the MCs and the encore songs. Fail.

They went reaaaaaally overboard with audio editing. It's to the point it seems like Shikata's not even singing most of the time. They didn't just "fix" or rerecord her vocals, they muted her live vocals at times when there's a lot of backing vocals and closing up on her singing then so the audio doesn't match the video. Srsly? Fail.

It is unfortunate as the bootleg live recording (while far from a perfect performance by any means, considering Shikata's voice shakes and breaks a lot) is far more enjoyable to me and interesting as it still showcases she can perform the things she does on CD (despite many fails). Some tracks are almost perfect for a live, too - like Sorisso and Arabesque. And the bootleg has the cut MCs and encore songs (which are not bad at all)! I'll upload some video with both DVD and bootleg audio tracks later for comparisions.

Shikata herself is very awkward on stage (and looks scared during the entire first part) so that was an another thing but at least we know now. ;)

TLDR if you were sceptical after the HATS Live DVD (with Luna piena and AVE MARIA) don't even bother with this.

I still want to watch it :TdT:

I wonder where you have found any links both to the bootleg and the DVD recordings. My google couldn't have done it :desksweat:

Here's Akakakushi and Sorisso with both DVD and bootleg audio. :uh..: (hisgruntiness for pass)

Akakakushi bootleg syncs up perfectly with the video. Sorisso, not so much - there's still some awkward shots. Perhaps due to: A) retarded reverb causing odd sync perception, B) DVD video editing, or C) Shikata lipsyncing it on the actual concert, too, lol. Guessing A or B cause why on earth would you record the vocals YET AGAIN for the DVD if you already lipsynced it during the concert?

Long story short, this concert DVD (vocal-wise) is a terrible lip-reading rerecording and I do not approve, lol.

Do you want any other track for comparision?
