^ The blogger goes on to justify that point, but...well, I'm basically just using it in reference to Kala/FJ performances. Believe me, I don't want to offend anyone by quoting that. It just explains my feelings about the quality of Kala/FJ lives better than I could explain them myself.

I wasn't offended by you, Niney, and I'm sure noone was. But what that blogger said is just ridiculous. It's ok to defend your favourite artist, but saying lies won't make the artist sing better. :uh..:

^ Oh, I understand there are a lot of artists who can sing live much better than Kalafina. But I also know there are a lot of artists who can't sing live at all, and I don't think Kala belongs in that group. They have their flaws, but I don't think they're complete failures. I'm probably way too touchy about that point, but even so...

Well, please forget I said anything. It's just my opinion, as always.

I didn't say that Keiko was yelling really, just that she was louder than the other two. (It was probably just sound issues as well. *sigh* I should get surround sound or something heh)

Of course they are not, but there are singers who are perfect live. That's why what the guy said is not true :uh..:

it is not fun if Live is 100% exactly as CD version anyway
There's such a thing called rearrangement :ohoho:

I'm not offending or defending anyone here, but usually people who sing in live as perfect as in studio version usually just stand still in the middle on the stage, and just concentrating on their singing. It was pleasant to hear, but as KP-X once said, live performance is not just for the audience to hear, but to see as well. I'm not offending Zoa who said that they better stand still in the middle of stage (Kalafina), but if they only stand still on the stage, it'll be a borefest for the audience, although they are really entertaining with their voice, and of course the amount of people who watch the live will decrease drastically, because for me, who wants to see a singer who just stand still in the middle of stage (w/ exception of opera singers) and just singing like studio version? It'll be better if they just buy the CD and listen to it at home. As for me, I never expect a perfect studio quality in live, but I never want to see my favorite artist just stand still in the middle of the stage, don't do any interactions with the audience, and don't move around a bit. But in Kalafina case, I still keep my opinion that they should just rid the choreography, and let them move freely.

I agree. Kalafina's songs have a range between being calm ballads to fast paced rock numbers, it would be weird if they just stood around during Ongaku or Mata Kaze ga Tsuyoku Natta. An important point of a good performer is their ability to connect to the audience, and people who are going to see them in concerts are expecting that as well.

And I have to say that outside of classically trained singers it's extremely rare to find people who can both pull off a lively show and sing perfectly at the same time. Not to mention that it's even harder when there's three of them having to harmonize and try not to outshine each other etc. I'm not saying that they should get a free pass because of this, but just putting in perspective IMO. I really like their lives, I think they have great chemistry with each other and great stage presence to pull off great performances, but that's just my opinion anyway.

i like both kalafina and fictionjunction.

I had seen YK lives first before i started to get into kalafina. When i see kalafina's performance with dnacing, running, and jumping around, i think there are some factor that missing in kalafina live compared to when i wathched they were in YK live :ayashii:

but.... i still like them! they are great ! :dote:

I wonder why many people blame only choreography for the girls' flaws in singing. They still had them at the time when they didn't have to dance.

To those who think that singers can sing perfectly only when they stand still on the stage - the russian singer I've mentioned before always makes a kind of performance when she sings certain songs. She isn't a classically singer either.

^Agreed. I've attended lives where the singers worked the stage, choreography, and their vocals simultaneously. So, I don't think these things are or should be exclusive.

But in Kalafina's case, they have vocal issues when they stand still. (Ex: that rooftop live. They're near enough to hear each other and moving only slightly, yet they're having problems.) They can't improve if they have to sing in addition to a memorized routine. Moving freely seems to be their best option for now.

^ I agree, but I still don't think that makes them (Kala, I mean) failures. Not going to talk too much about my opinions on certain points, though.

I think whether someone can sing perfectly standing still, or whether they can sing perfectly while moving around, all depends on the singer and their personal capabilities. It's a bit of a strange example, but almost all the singers on the old Lawrence Welk show sang perfectly whether standing still or moving around. Singers like Bing Crosby and others from the past could also sing perfectly without technical help. But just because they could doesn't make those who sometimes can't into failures, at least not in my opinion. I'm not defending people who can't sing at all, like some modern pop singers...I'm just trying to defend Kalafina, because I believe they do have talent.

I don't think anyone here is calling them failures. I find their singing mediocre. Which is okay if they were marketed as idols or entertainers, but they're being promoted as a vocal group.

And training. Even if you are talented, without working hard on training you won't gain much. Professional opera singers take vocal lessons, when they need them, until they retire.

Well, what bothers me the most in their coreography is that they seem far from natural (but they don't seem professional either; they struggle to much to give a specific impression but end up just being ridiculous). Hence, it seems like they don't feel what they are actually singing. I can't take them seriously that way; that's not even being amateur, it goes beyond that.

As for singing while dancing, I agree with both sides. Although, like Alphie said, training is also an important factor.

True. And you're right. I tend to overreact slightly on these topics, so you don't have to pay attention to my exaggerations :XD: :imdead:

Good point!

I completely agree with Ritardando here.
After watching the DVD, i felt that overall it was a job well done :shy:
I really did enjoy myself watching them.
But to be very objective... :knife:
Hikaru was being very nasel in certain songs
and Keiko was exaggerating some parts greatly :XD:

BUT WACCA-CHAN was wonderful this time :sohappy:
I felt she performed the best this round in comparison to the Red Moon Live ( I felt Keiko and Hikaru did better in Red Moon)
Well i really like Hikaru in Eden. She sounded sooo good!!!!!!!!
and In Your Eyes !!! OMG Keiko is cutesy mode! Did any of you took note how she was singing in that cutesy high pitch girly tone :shy:
I adore Adore and Red Moon so much. Keiko sounded epic in Magnolia, she sounded sooo evil XD and in Mune no Yukue, some people said she was blasting and yelling, but in my opinion i felt it wasn't yelling. Moreover when she did the starting verse, it was only drums and keyboard, so she really have to resonate throughout the whole stadium XD
Oh and 1 more thing, i really like this live of Oblivious and Magia!
I think the version of Magia and Oblivious here is the best so far :sparkleguy:
Well that's all for now <3 :dote:

:omg: So many conflicting reviews! I don't even know what to think or expect now! :omg:
