Really? I must be remembering Madoka poorly... I can't hear Madoka in this show at all. :|the music is nothing new though. it has the same feeling like Madoka Magica.
Hm, I've been listening to the Madoka soundtrack a lot lately, and I don't hear it here. Like at all. Madoka's ost had really catchy melodies and simple arrangements. The music in this episode is much more complex than anything from Madoka; and even as far as emotions are concerned, I felt like the music here is colder and more subdued compared to Madoka's which had a more melodramatic sound imo. Kajiura may have used her usual instruments, but the arrangements are more complex and seem to have more thought and work put into them. I think the music in this episode was a refreshing change of pace from her usual anime stuff, and as far as technique goes, Kajiura has shown a lot growth in this episode.@grunty what I mean as the music has the same feeling as Madoka Magica is the 'emotion/feeling' evoked when listening to the music if that makes any sense? like for example kajiura's signature violin/strings melody either usually sounds sad, loud and bold, uplifting, or nostalgic (this is the one i get while listening to madoka soundtrack). the feeling i get when i listen to the music is akin to the one i get when listening to madoka magica soundtrack, they sound really nostalgic to me. maybe it's just a difference in perception. nothing new as in i don't feel any different than recent kajiura soundtrack. nothing groundbreaking or refreshing. it is still a step up from SAO and Bokumachi, though.
