See ya all elsewhere!
Yup - It's silly to let other people's opinions ruin something that you, yourself, enjoyed. The bottom line is that you enjoyed it and that's all that should matter. Sure, people have different standards and some are more critical than others - but there's as much wrong with that as their is with your post about how much you loved it.
As for me, I enjoyed seeing them very much. As usual, Yuki Kajiura played her instrument to perfection. She really seemed to communicate well with the crowd (although I didn't know a thing she said - Must have picked up on... 3 phrases?).
And similarly, the backing band was solid. I liked the guitar solo with the harmonizer effect - That was very neat. I'd have loved some camera shots of the rhythm section though. Being a drummer, I'm sad that they didn't get much air time. I want an alternative "Kyoichi cam" view of behind the drums - Stuff the girls, I'd have been glued to that all concert!
As for the girls themselves, I have a different opinion than the rest of you. I thought Kaori was OK, but had the most noticeably off-pitch moments. Maybe that is because her voice is naturally more audible than the others. Wakana, I thought, did well once they'd been singing for a while. Keiko was pretty good, although a bit overpowering at times (maybe more the mixes fault). Yuriko, to me, seemed to struggle a bit with some of the changes?
When they sang their solos, I thought they did a really good job. Kaori nailed the start of "Dreamscape" and there was something Keiko sang (Not sure what piece) which I thought was very strong. Similarly, I really enjoyed Wakana's solo. I sadly missed "Here was Stand...", so I'm not sure how Yuriko did with it.
They ran into problems when the four of them were singing as a chorus, but with individual lines interweaving together (polyphonically, for the music guys). I don't know if it was just one singer who was a little out, but at times it DID sound a little bit mushy. I understand it must be very difficult to get those moments sounding perfect, when you have 4x the chance of a wrong note being sung.
I was surprised that Kaori got a better costume than usual! It actually fitted for a change! Wakana looked really good, I thought. Keiko... erm... We'll skip over her.
Overall though, it was very enjoyable - I hope to see more and for £8, I honestly can't complain.
