This is a huge reputation shaker. Because I can only imagine how much doubt I'll have in my mind next time she announces something like this. And it'll probably persuade me to not end up even attending the event.

Aww, I feel sorry for those who've ordered the tickets :( especially looking at how you guys were so excited about this before. I certainly hope they'll be able to come back there soon.

I was going to buy the ticket today after I was sure I have enough money to spare to buy the VIP ticket or whichever the most expensive ticket is available...

It really saddens me to have to post this as my second blog entry of the new year…
The scheduled Los Angeles performance for Yuki Kajiura LIVE featuring Sword Art Online has been cancelled.

The reason we had to cancel was because of issues obtaining the necessary Visas to perform.
But I’d like to mention that our staff in charge of the procedure were planning and organizing towards this event from a very early stage.
And that no one on our crew including me, our artists or staff were involved in anything problematic to prevent visas to be issued.
I know that not only me, but each and everyone in our team had been looking forward to this show for the longest time, so it’s really just regretful and sad that it had to come to this.
Also, I feel extremely sorry for the inconvenience we’ve caused the ticket holders who were looking forward to seeing the show.
We also sincerely apologize for such a last-minute announcement of the cancelation. That is partly due to our staff exploring every possible angle, in hopes to make the performance happen.
This is the first time for me that a scheduled performance has been canceled, and to be honest I’m not exactly sure how to process the fact just yet…
So far, I’m saddened and filled with regret. I wanted to perform my show, and see all of you.
Please see the website listed above regarding the refund of all tickets and shipment of memorabilia.
I don’t want anybody who wanted to see SAO’s concert or my show to have to go through this situation again, and needless to say I don’t want to have to experience these emotions for my self either.
Again, I offer my deepest apologies, and am praying to see all of you smiling at a future show date.

Perhaps the sales were so low because it is SAO. Some SAO fans don't even know who Yuki Kajiura is. The event will probably be saved if they included other SAO performers such as LiSA or Haruna Luna imo.

^ Well its not just SAO fans, most anime fans dont bother looking up the composers ( i do it too for anime i dont like the music of) and considering most people nowadays are not really fond of kajiura's usual types of music (classical + modern elements) this isnt much surprising.
I do believe the fact that the event wasnt properly advertised also plays a role. Its was practically only advertised on official sites, the 2 YK videos, and that interview ANN published recently, so almost zero ad expenses from the organisers. And the venue was, i think, more than they could chew. They should have gone with a smaller one, and do one more event like a year later, if the first is successful.
Haruna Luna wouldn't help, as she's much less known than Kajiura, and she has only done one song for the series.
Indeed, a normal Yuki Kajiura live with more than one projects featured, would be more pleasant, as the only-SAO one only attracts SAO fans, and only some of the YK ones. People who dont like sao music, and only know her from Kalafina, had no reason to go.
Lets not forget that the 2008-onwards trend of bundling the music with the BDs has overshadowed the fact of who the composer is for each series, and, them not having credits on some of the booklets but only "Music composed by Yuki Kajiura" doesn't help either. I have known people who have watched Madoka or FZ and have no idea who the composer is.

I feel really bad for those of you who where attending. Even if you get the seats refunded, you still lost something you've been waiting for for so long
Not to mention to those who were travelling from another state, it must be a even more of a pain to cancel all plans...
Also Kajiura's blog entry broke a little my heart. So many years working, and now they have to cancel a concert for the first time And how heartbroken must the girls feel!
