I haven't seen all of the show's Yuki has written music for but of the one's I have seen, I really liked .hack sign. I know some people think it's boring but the slow pace really worked for me. On the other hand, I don't like SAO too much. I don't want this to be a bashing thread or anything but I really am curious to see what everyone's favorites and least favorites are.

Worst: SAO. By a mile.
Best: Kara no Kyoukai. Not only was it a fantastic show in all aspects, it's also what I consider Kajiura-san's magnum opus.

Your screen name is interesting.

Mmmh... I think MADLAX and Kara no Kyoukai were my favorites !

But I haven't watched all her anime, so I can't choose the worst...

... "worst"... is it really possible with Kaji-chan ?

Ahhh about the shows LOL

Best: Tsubasa Chronicles Season 1 only LOL, each track has a memorable melody plus the use of these OST are pretty good too! Plus these OST introduced Kaori and Keiko.
and I guess Kara no Kyokai too because I just love the battle themes and the battle scenes.
Mai-Hime too, I was skeptic to watch it but it's such a really good anime drama revolving around fighting girls with their wishes.

Worst: SAO, the only saving grace for me is that it's the show where REMI, one of my faves from Sound Horizon, got introduced. I like the show only during half the Aincrad arc... err around Episode 2? But then to each his own, okay?

Favorite: Madoka I guess. Honorable mentions to Fate/Zero for being pretty good and Petit Cossette for being weird as hell and not quite like anything else.

Least favorite: got a big hate-on for Mai-Otome.

Favorite show : Madoka Magica, although the OST is only okay. Some are great, the others are forgettable. 2nd favorite : Kara no Kyokai, and I love the OST as well. Favorite OST is Noir and Madlax, but I don't like those animes. Least favorite show is definitely SAO, and the OST is on my bottom list as well.

It's weird how SAO polarises opinion so much - for the record, I thought it was disappointingly average and only watched it for the soundtrack. I guess my choices are the same as @Kirito above: KnK is my favourite so far. The music scores and end theme tunes for the third and especially the fourth movies are, in my opinion at least, the most powerful she's ever done. The fact that the films themselves are excellent certainly helps.

I don't think the Cossette OST seems to get enough love though. The OAV is pretty 'arthouse' and hard to get into, but the OST is almost overwhelmingly good. It gives me a sort of sensory overload - it's absolutely beautiful, but at points I feel like I'm being dragged through a terrifying and dark place and out the other side. :@_@:

Favourites? Madoka, KnK (especially the 3rd, M19+20 is incredible) and Cossette. Cossette got me into her soundtracks back when I watched it years ago, before I even got into Kalafina. Alongside Silent Hill 2 it's one of the OST's that I can safely say got me interested in soundtrack works in general, so I have a lot to thank for it.

Worst? I don't really know. I love almost everything I've heard, although there's quite a few I haven't. Probably Madoka Beginnings/Eternal? It doesn't really bring much new material to the table and what is there just doesn't stand out as much as the TV and Rebellion works.

I thought this thread was supposed to have discussion about the best show, though I posted both.

This is why I should probably read things properly :sohappy:. Well, it'll have to be Madoka still on that front, plus KnK3 is my personal favourite of the films too, so not much really changes there. Cossette wasn't very good as an OVA though :ayashii:.

Best: Madoka Magica. What can I say, it is literally my favorite anime ever.

Worst: SAO. This is to me quite frankly the worst kind of bad show; The bad show that showed genuine promise in the beginning, only for it to rapidly deteriorate and get worse and worse the further into the story it got. I ended up ragequitting after around episode 15.

I fully understood the plot of Cossette after the third time watching it, and only then thought it was brilliant.

The *third* time watching it. :omgz:

Madoka on the other hand, I expected to be 'Cossette-lite with added Wideface'. How wrong I was! :waii:

Same here. Madoka TV disappointed me greatly but, as I said in Madoka movie thread, I think the Rebellion movie was closer to those expectations I had for the series. Better late than never.

Huehue, I knew grunty was going to say something because of that comment.

Anyways
Favorite: I'd say Kara no Kyoukai and Madoka.
Least favorite: Elemental Gelade and SAO. I dropped EG around episode 4. I just wasn't enjoying it at all. And I started to dislike SAO after Yui was introduced.

Here we judge only the shows and not their musics, right ?

for me .hack SIGN was really boring when I watched it, stopped around episode 10 and since then I havent continued it. I havent watched Luminality yet so I can say something about it yet.

Tsubasa Chronicles was one of the first anime I watched in Japanese so I have really good memories from it + it was the one that introduced me to Yuki Kajiura <3, in this soundtrack every track is different and a masterpiece, I remember listening to dreamscape close to 100 times back then. When I rewatched it again however I found it kinda childish - maybe because of the Fai Mokona Kurogane trio - and because meanwhile I had watched more anime so I was familiar with many anime cliches I wasnt the first time. Tokyo Revelations however takes the anime to a whole new level and makes it a thousand times more interesting. Too bad CLAMP have abandoned the plans of animating the rest of the manga :S

Noir was really boring after epsidoe 4 I think and it became interesting again near that last episodes. Same for Madlax, man I cant forget how boring it was watching the same flashback on practically every episode. I guess its Kouichi Mshimo's way of doing things, no wonder BeeTrain now does only secondary animation helping other studios instead of doing its own. But I can never forget how much freedom he was giving to Kajiura and I respect him for just that. El Cazador did much better as it has less flashbacks but the story was also boring for the most part, very episodical and with annoying spolers by Blue Eyes at the end of them XD

Mai - Hime was awesome, lost of dispare but pretty interesting. The death rate is close to Game of Thrones which I resently marathioned. I havent watch Mai Otome yet, but it looks more childish

From Petit Cossette I have only watched one of the ovas and found it scary back then but after watching Kara no Kyoukai and Game of Thrones I guess I cant watch that too XD I love the soundtrack!!

Elemental Gerad - I have only watched 1 ep I think and I didnt continue. The soundtrack has some good musics if you exclude all those boring everlasting song arrangements.

Pandora Hearts - I remember it being interesting enough to watch, but I wasnt amazed by it. Hoping the anime continues someday now that the manga is finished

Kara no Kyoukai - amazing!!! It a bit had to follow those philosophcal discussions between the readhead cigarette woman (Touko?) and Shiki, but other than that every movie was really interesting - maybe with exception of movie 6) and the graphics were stunning!

Madoka Magica! - The plot was interesting but I never understood how the headcut of episode 3 made such a huge fuse about it. The show was basically reversing all the Mahou Shoujo cliches. Rebellion movie was more interesting, and cant wait what Urobuschi is cooking for the next TV anime.

Sword Art Online - I swear the novel was so interesting that I couldnt stop reading untill I reached vol #9 where it becomes seriously boring. The anime adaption isnt that interesting for some reason. Maybe its because I have already read the source material or maybe its the worse-I-have-ever-seen-direction-of-the-show: I have never seen in other anime director skiping the vocals of a whole track (First Town), never seen leaving an epic scene without any music (where Yui kills that boss with the flaming sword), never seen using the OST as samples inside the show, never seen skipping whole chapters of it. Seriously, if I was A-1 Pictures' boss I would have fired the Tomohiko Ito guy from the end of the first 12 eps =_=

Best- KNK , Fate Zero and the Madoka MOVIES! I guess I was expecting a bit too much for the TV series, but Miss Yuki rectified that mistake. I particularly adore the Rebellion OST with that accordion and then absolute configuration - can't wait to hear it live! Knk..is just KNK and Fate Zero had so many choral and majestic goodness. All brilliant pieces!

Worst show..probably SAO. It had so much hype , yet it ended up with a predictable storyline with all the females falling for Kirito and Kirito being the cool all-in-black- swordsman who can click his fingers and make any deus ex machina happen because you know, he's all in black blah blah! The second half just nailed its coffin for me ...and the villain Kagaba was a female butterfly NOT OBERON. That is all XD Though I guess the animation didn't have much to work with the novels so..
