What's your favorite and or least favorite show that Yuki has scored?

I think you have mixed things up a bit, Shugu/Oberon was the villain of the ALO arc, while Kayaba Akihiko was of the SAO arc., also the deux ex machina in the end of ALO was Kagaba and not that sword that fell. The sword was found during the skipped arc, while Kirito managed to call it down after Kayaba reminded him that he had beat the admin in SAO arc and that he was still admin of the server while Kirito thought untill then that he was dead for good.

Favourite: Madoka, all of it. I don't think I've ever been this obsessed with a series before.
What can I say, I enjoyed it. I loved the characters, more so than anything. The story on its own probably wouldn't have done it for me. It was a combination of everything, from the visuals to the music, the characters and the way everything was executed. Episode 10 is usually lauded as the best episode (I beg to differ), but story wise it wasn't anything original. It was the execution that made it work. I'll confess that I'm a Kyouko fangirl so 9 will always be the best for me. I was initially quite worried when I heard that they had added a BGM to Kyouko's climax in 9, since I thought the silence in that scene worked pretty well. Silly me. It's Kajiura. Heartwrenching is one of her specialties. That they leveled that scene up several notches probably helped as well.

Least: SAO
I had to drop this, and I usually don't drop shows. The way the show treats its female characters just doesn't sit well with me. I definitely didn't expect this to be a harem show. It stinks so much of the author self inserting himself as Kirito that it hurts, not to mention how this series came about. Perfect waifu? Check. Other ladies falling for him for no good reason? Check. Misunderstood loner? Check. Unreasonably strong? Check. Is there anything that he doesn't have? Oh right, a personality.

Story wise... it wasn't anywhere as interesting as it could be. It's just a dumb action series. The way it was hyped as the best thing ever before it aired, I had expected it to explore more mature themes a la .hack//sign. This is my fault though. I had forgotten to check its roots. It's a shonen light novel. Character wise... Kirito as a character is bland and unlikable to me, and Asuna really just died as a character when she offered herself to Kirito and switched immediately to wife mode after that. What the hell man. Are people really calling this a great romance? She went from hardly knowing him to sleeping with him and then immediately to wife. I can understand that perhaps quite a bit of time has passed that was not shown to the viewer but this is just lazy writing. There was no development at all. They just enter full on love love mode. It screams "my love fantasy" all over.

I've not met the main antagonist yet but I doubt he has an interesting motivation or backstory and is probably just a typical bad guy. I can't remember anyone else so yeah. No one else was memorable enough. Though in this case, it's probably for the best.

Mami in those 3 episodes had more character development than Kirito in the whole 13 episodes or so that I watched.

That's one thing that's always bugged me. A lot of people seem to either praise or criticize Madoka for it's story, whilst honestly the story is not the strongest aspect it has, not even close. It's all about character interactions, aesthetics and pacing. The actual plot itself is pretty basic (it's mostly Faust, after all, just like Rebellion is heavily Nutcracker inspired) but the execution is top-notch. It's the exact same issue I have with The Last of Us, another recent example of a basic, not particularly original plot backed up by almost every other aspect going far beyond normal levels of quality to create something decent overall. Also is there such a thing as someone who isn't a Kyouko fangirl? I'm a massive fangirl of Kyouko and I'm not even a girl. She's amazing .

Here we judge only the shows and not their musics, right ?

Tsubasa Chronicles was one of the first anime I watched in Japanese so I have really good memories from it + it was the one that introduced me to Yuki Kajiura <3, in this soundtrack every track is different and a masterpiece, I remember listening to dreamscape close to 100 times back then. When I rewatched it again however I found it kinda childish - maybe because of the Fai Mokona Kurogane trio - and because meanwhile I had watched more anime so I was familiar with many anime cliches I wasnt the first time. Tokyo Revelations however takes the anime to a whole new level and makes it a thousand times more interesting. Too bad CLAMP have abandoned the plans of animating the rest of the manga :S

Pandora Hearts - I remember it being interesting enough to watch, but I wasnt amazed by it. Hoping the anime continues someday now that the manga is finished

I remember reading an article/interview/something which says that CLAMP pretty much resents the TRC anime because it strays too much from the way CLAMP portray their character in the manga, so they disown it. I have to agree because the manga is good (not the best from CLAMP, though) but the anime is blah. Not only CLAMP, a lot of the fans of the manga really resent it as well. It's a shame, because just like you, Future Soundscape is on my top list of OST Kajiura ever made. And I'm not sure they'll make an anime continuation for Pandora Hearts because the story is really heavy and quite confusing. Only the real fan of the series would understand it if they decide to make an anime continuation after, like, 5 years lol. Plus, the original story (the manga) doesn't have anything that'll make anime viewer in Japan nowadays would like :p

Hehe, reading some of these posts reminds me of this one time somebody accused Kajiura of purposefully picking bad shows so that her music would stand out more.

Unreasonably strong? Check.

Well actually the material between episode 2 and 7 I think, wasnt originally into the novel. Ep 2's was added stroy to republishing for vo#1 and so they added it to the anime, while the episodes with the Sachi Silica Lisbeth were part of an other volume, not part of the main story.

After episode 1 there was a big Aincrad floors part that he cleared himself and that's how he became strong. Too bad though non of it was actually shown to us or written in the novel, but was just menthioned as a fact.

Well I have to agree that the relationship developement was too fast between the 2, but it was a kind of "add me as friend" thing and not an actual marriage lol and also they supposedly had a love-at-first-siight thing. Also after they exit SAO, irl they act as normal lovers couple :)

In what way ? do you talk about the episode where they talked about her past ? Or the scene before the battle where she talked with Madoka ?[/QUOTE]

Everything. You don't have to get the character to talk specifically about their past to learn more about them. When we first saw Mami, she was the perfect senpai. It seemed as if she was unfazed by all that she was going through, as the characters usually are in typical mahou shoujo shows, despite how they are actually putting their lives at stake. She can be a little stubborn and untrusting of others, always wary of Homura.

We later learn that she was actually putting on a strong front, to impress her kouhai and to be the senpai they can look up to, so that they would stay by her side. There aren't many that she can share her secret with, and it's apparent that years of doing this has alienated her from her classmates, and that she's lonely (she considers QB her "friend"!!). When she realises that Madoka was willing to enter a contract with QB, and that she was going to have someone fight with her by her side, she's overjoyed and we see her facade crumble. Though she gets carried away and this eventually led her to drop her guard. She likes tea, is implied to have a history with Kyouko, has a strong sense of justice, but is weak emotionally and is unable to handle the horrible truth. I learned so much about Mami in those episodes. I don't know nearly as much about Kirito. He feels more like a self-insert character for viewers to see themselves in.

It may certainly be just a "add me as friend" thing but what they were depicting certainly was not. They were going for a married couple image, especially after adding that little girl as their stand in daughter figure. So why does she like him? Just because. There's a reason why Asuna ranks top as everyone's waifu character.

hahah I always get their names mixed up, shows how much I paid attention to it heh >_<''''''
Thanks for the explanation- as I barely followed the second half of the season XD

Well. I if recall correctly, she likes him for 2 reasons, because Kirto showed her that she can relax a bit during some lazy parts of the game and not just rush to clear floor without rest at all, and second because she protected her from that guard of hers in ep 10. and because he's cool. There are no more reasons XD

the only waifu skill I can think of is her cooking, the others are done in other anime too (sleep together). About Yui, they first thought that she was an actaul kid player and took care of her for a while, the reason why they treat her as daughter is because when she didnt had her memories back she was calling them papa and mama XD

^What can I say, I think your gruntiness has rubbed on on me. Btw, george I hope you're not insulted because to each of their own. Maybe the light novel is actually good but the show really butchers it, although I doubt it. I personally, like Hatouchan, still don't get why all the women are infatuated with Kirito. I still see him just like the way Hatou and pretty much everyone else here see him, he's more like average self-insert type of protagonist that somehow manage to charm all the women because it's the epitome of dream of all otakus :p won't say more because I'm supposed to be a front-seat audience here, lol.

Arent most harem anime like that anyway ? Good for nothing guys act cool or dont act at all but they somehow manage to attract pretty girl characters. As far as we know before kirito srarts playing sao he was just an ordinary guy, shut into himself playing games, you can read or see about that in the first episodes of ALO if im not wrong where his sister tell why she started playing the game.if it wasnt SAO kirito would be just one more of his school's boys and girls woudnt have noticed him at all

Im not insulted, its ok

i have only seen Madoka, KnK, HtA, SAO. (i will watch HtA with subtitles but i only saw SAO to screen the music...) i want to watch Madlax, El Cazador de la Bruja, Le Portrait de Petit Cossette (esp this one, love the music) and Noir in the near future.

so i can't pick a best or worst :) i think i like KnK more than Madoka, both in music and story etc. Among the shows i screened i didn't even care about SAO's story or characters. i like japanese RPGs in fact, esp. Final Fantasy, Grandia, Chrono Trigger etc. if SAO had any of the story&character dev. elements of these games, it would have been much better but yes, each to his/her own. i have no comment on the handsomeness of Kirito :D

I enjoyed El Cazador de la Bruja... having a reasonable story arc even with an onsen episode.

Pandora Hearts, Madoka Magica, Fate/Zero, SAO. These are the only anime which Yuki scored that I have watched so far.

It is a tie between Pandora Hearts and Madoka for my most favorite anime. I really liked Oz and Alice as much as I like Madoka and Homura. Her music really nailed the scenes which I will never forget. xD

Least favorite is... SAO. Despite that though, I still managed to finish the series because I just want to know how the story will simply turn out. I don't like reading novels so much so I have to make do with watching instead. xD

Best: Madoka Magica. Has been and still is my favorite show to date. Fate/Zero and Pandora Hearts would be honorable mentions.
Worst: Tsubasa Chronicle. The first episode was good, but past that the pacing is REAAAAALY slow and boring. I don't know how they got to 52 episodes of it, I dropped it at ~10-15 eps because I simply couldn't stand the pacing.
..The music for it is nice, though (especially a song of storm and fire) :XD:
