Pandora Hearts was awesome It was also the first Kajiura-composed show I watched, so it has high nostalgia value to me. The story was an excellent twist on Alice in Wonderland, though sadly, the anime ended prematurely with an abrupt and less-than-satisfying ending. The character interactions, on the other hand, were amazing - the cast had such good chemistry and I could tell that everyone working on the show enjoyed it a damn whole lot (Sharon for best girl).
If I had to pick a favorite, Kara no Kyoukai would be it - no questions asked. Nasu as a writer is praised by fans for Fate/Stay Night's story which really isn't anywhere near the level of what the fans make it out to be - it's basically a glorified RPG - there isn't any "shounen" deconstruction and the debate of "saving everyone vs saving one person" which is its base theme is actually a weak foundation to what otherwise is a good action-oriented series. But I digress. His work on Kara no Kyoukai was above and beyond my expectations. It starts off slow, and rewatching it a second time gives you a much better understanding of the story and characters and what the series is trying to accomplish - but I think that's part of Kara no Kyoukai's ingenuity when intentionally releasing the movies in a non-chronological order. You want to watch it a second time to actually know what the heck just happened - and I loved it, and still love it. Beneath the mystery, magecraft, thriller, suspense, blood, and action, it's a romance. A convoluted one, mind you, but one of my favorites in all of anime. It's the combination of all the elements of the anime as a whole that really leave me wowed, though. There's not a single element, be it music, action, voice acting, character development, and story, that doesn't have what I think is the passion, dedication and love the staff members have for this series. It's incredibly polished, and a great deal of attention was given to every detail, which is something I can't say for most anime, if at all. The only thing dragging down Kara no Kyoukai, however, is its pacing, which may deter some viewers who just want action (not what this series is primarily about, by the way, even though the action sequences are awesome), and the prerequisite knowledge of the Nasuverse that the anime expects viewers to have before watching - otherwise, viewers will be very, very lost in the foundation of how magecraft and Shiki's ability works.
Madoka Magica and Fate/Zero are close seconds, with Fate/Zero slightly edging out Madoka because F/Z, to me at least, has a higher rewatch value. Madoka doesn't suffer from F/Z's pacing issues, but Kyuubei is probably one of my most hated anime characters which makes me give the runner up title to F/Z. Also because fight scenes, Saber's Excalibur and Rider awesomeness.
The worst would be SAO, by far. I think everyone here has already explained why it's such a terrible show, so I won't be adding much. But even Kajiura fans could tell that she really doesn't seem like she even cares for this show in the slightest.
