I just watched YK live vol. 4 part 1, it and I'm so happy! It had a lot of the songs I enjoy best by YKJ. Yuuka definitely got more comfortable on stage, which is great! And there was dancing! She's no Keiko, haha, but she's definitely improved in that department. She really got so into it as time went on. I'm so proud I could cry. Instead, I will cheer!
mhmh, I really like most of the FictionJunction Yuuka songs, but Yuuka as a singer (not judging her as a person) is just the most boring and average of all the girls. That really doesn't mean she is bad at all, it's just that the others are so extremely good. Yuuka's voice is the most normal of all, she sounds more like your typical idol / pop singer and eventhough she sings better than other idols, she doesn't even come close to what Wakana, Keiko, Kaori or Yuriko can do with their voices. Of course, that's also a matter of personal taste ^^
The "most boring" - if you are talking about watching her perform, she can be less entertaining, what with her face looking blank and not enough movement (she improved, though). Wakana also can have have a blank face when she sings (unlike Keiko and Kaori, who are very expressive in both ways and more natural at it). Yuuka improved in the live, especially as time went on.
As for the others being "extremely good", well on stage it's true that she does not sing as loud. She has a soft voice, somewhat shy still on stage (and music video), and seems more suitable for a smaller venue where it is more intimate, if you know what I mean (like with jazz singers, not that she is one. Keiko is not shy at all when performs on stage, so she is very natural and entertaining).
For someone like Yuuka, she just needs more direction. If you look at Kalafina music videos, those are very well directed. It shows that someone cared enough to get them to act and move in certain ways, but when they are on stage, it was differentt. Consider one of the Progressive live performances. I was disappointed that they there wasn't that energy they displayed in the video.
Then there's also the fact that they each have different voices, and some are more suitable for certain kinds of pieces and venues than others. I agree that in the live, some songs were a bit higher pitched for her than usual. But there are some things she does as a singer that makes her "better", like with breathing control, which is very crucial when one sings. That was something that annoyed me a little sometimes with Wakana and Kaida in live vol. 2 (when they over-extended themselves, especially Wakana, and breathed in certain places that detracted from the line), but they're forgiven since they did a great job anyway. There are other things she does, but I'm not sure how to explain at the moment.
Still I really liked the live, and she did very well and I really enjoyed. I can't wait for part 2!
