^Doesn't Hikaru sing the whole oblivious chorus higher in falsetto? And talking about her lows, she did a beautiful harmony with Wakana in Kimi ga Hikari ni Kaete Yuku. I don't think it's remarkable, though, it's only a B.

What I mean in my previous post is in HnS Poor me. Yeah, in Kimi ga it's only a B that not too low and it's only the second chorus...aside from the "hashi wo matatta ni mukou made"...

I never really like Hikaru, whether in higher or lower harmony, though. Her voice doesn't blend well with the other. That's why I think Kajiura mostly give Hikaru a solo line instead of harmony line.

Although I hate this thinking way of Kajiura. It's like, well, Keiko can go lower than this so she can sing the harmony, so I'll just give the solo to Hikaru, while in reality Keiko could perfectly sing it...That's why I never enjoy HnS that much.

Yes, Hikaru's voice really stands out instead of blending neicely with the others. And that's pretty much how Kala works, but not only because of Hikaru, but also because of Keiko herself - who would do the lower harmonies? Hikaru may reach some of them, but not with the same quality of tone of Keiko (same goes to Kaori). And I don't like HnS, I don't even know what happens on that song

I think on that era Wakana still could hold her higher notes well. Like liminality from live vol.2, her higher notes came from falsetto and not head-voice so I think there won't be any veins-going-to-explode on her neck

Now that I think of it, they sing Materialise and then Sei Otome no Inori, and Wakana can do fine on both songs (I hear Wakana's voice in Sei Otome live, and not Yuriko. I think that's because Yuriko is haing flu atm so Wakana replaced her. Isn't that so? )

I find that kinda surprising. Just looking at it for how high she can sing, because I don't find any notes of Wakana or Hikaru in Lacrimosa (or any Kalafina I've heard) particularly difficult, I can sing much higher than any of the aforementioned songs go and I have had very little professional training. I didn't really mean to talk about myself so much I just found it interesting.

I have a question. Is there any special term for what Wakana does in for example te to te to me and yami no uta when she harmonizes with Keiko?

Name meaning:

Wakana: Harmonious music (The Japanese name Wakana may be written with the characters for "harmony; Japanese style; peace" (wa) and "play music; speak to a ruler; complete" (kana). Wakana is also the Japanese vocabulary word for "young greens or edible herbs".)

Keiko: Blessed child / joyful child / respectful child (Depending on the characters (kanji, hiragana) chosen to write the name, Keiko may mean "blessed child", "joyful child" or "respectful child", as well as other possibilities. Keiko is one of the most common names featuring the "ko" ending meaning "child". Up until very recently a large amount of Japanese girls were given names ending in "ko", but the practice is less common today. Many Japanese women drop the "ko" when they become adults.)

Hikaru: Light

^You're giving a generalized view at it. You should have searched for the paticular meaning of the girls' names, instead. In Keiko's case, her name is written with a kanji that means "enlightment", iirc. And Maya's name isn't written with a long vowel, it is just "Maya". And, in her case, I can't tell the kanji, but it is certainly not the one for "true".

Wakana = 若菜 = young greens
Keiko = 啓子 = enlightening child
Hikaru = 光 = light
Yuriko = 由里子 = child of the village of reasons (this is a tough one)
Kaori = かおり = no kanji, so no meaning
Yuuka = 侑香 = perfume of a gift
Maya = 摩耶 = polished question mark (and the first kanji is just "ma", not "maa")

@KLV Just my speculation coz no one has heard your singing. I guess that you may hit some high notes with your 'falsetto', not your actual voice. And that may be the reason why you feel that it's easier than it should be because for Wakana's case, she usually try to belt out her actual voice instead of using falsetto when it comes to live performances..:).

Wonder if it's meant to be like that, or if those kanji were just selected because of their individual meanings. In this case, a whole meaning was still possbile, but there are some cases around that I can't figure as a whole. Or maybe I'm just too stupid

As far as I know, some parents like to name their daughters in kana only, for a prettier "effect". So she might've been actually named かおり
