Will check the pic tomorrow, now in gprs cut-traffic mode...
Sankaku seems to hint at cancellations for content-related reasons, but I doubt the fans would buy, let alone swallow that one. And a pissed off fandom can cause a shake not far below 9.0 *recalls the story with Gainax and TTGL *
Btw, I'll try and check other shows due to air close to Madoka. If they're being delayed, too, we get a complete picture.
The official website of the Puella Magi Madoka Magica television anime series announced on Wednesday that the Japanese television stations CBC, MBS, and TBS will not air their scheduled broadcasts of the anime this week due to "self-restraint."
And apparently Urobuchi is relieved for the extra time, because:
Madoka Magica series script supervisor Gen Urobuchi apologized to everyone waiting to see the anime, but said that he is relieved for the delay. He explained that the anime studio SHAFT would work to the last minute on the last few episodes — just hours before the first airing of each episode on Thursday evening (early Friday morning) in the Kansai area on MBS. The creation of drawings for episodes 11 and 12 has been difficult, and Urobuchi thinks that airing episode 11 in the form that it is now would be "disappointing." Urobuchi and producer Atsuhiro Iwakami agree that the extra time will allow the staff to do their best.
many other shows have not been delayed, though... I wonder if episode 11 might contain some spectacular city-wrecking... this could pass for a plausible reason. Rumours have it that the last volume of CLAMP's X manga was left unreleased due to similar set of circumstances and content.
It isn't just a rumor but Clamps themselves have said in an interview that they concerned of such issue after a severe (well...not as severe as the recent one) earthquake happened around that time and decided to discontinue the manga.
Nick Hunter said:
People who listen to their music for long enough will lose their soul.
Well, according to Urobuchi, Shaft is actually pressed by deadlines, so the earthquake actually interfered with the production of ep 11 (and here I thought Madoka was long finished... Shaft is Shaft ). So now they'll need this time to polish things up.
Still a bit of pity not to see the episode (I didn't get addicted to Shaft for animation quality anyway ), but think of it this way: they're given a week to improve the episode, we're given a week to rewatch eps 1-10 just as the staff advised.
Well, looks like the Nico Nico stream of ep 10 still happened, and with curious additions, too. Puella Wiki has already digested them, so now we have a bit more info on a witch that may presumably become thrice as devastating as Walpurgis.
(of course, we don't know yet if that witch's power remains constant -
some theories go by the mention that a Puella Magi's power (and, accordingly, the power of a witch she becomes) may be defined not only by potential, but by the wish made as well. And since TL4 Madoka manages to wipe out Walpurgis in one hit, her power seems even higher than in previous timelines. Her Soul Gem's mana supply, on the other hand...
Maybe Gretchen was originally a strong, but not too disastrous witch?).
Btw, Gretchen's name is Faust all over again. Now let's recollect that Faust and Mephistopheles' deal revloved around the concept of
"time stand still" (although from observing Homura's device closer, it seems to technically accelerate HER OWN time flow rather than stop time around her)
.
And another speculation grows from the picture of Gretchen and Sigfried... now, for Sigfried's sword and cape...
Just dropping by. I haven't watched any episodes since the first one...this is one of the girls, isn't it?
EDIT
Found this one of Kyubey too... Not sure what it says, though.
poor Sayaka was aiming for a passive suicide, too... What if you become a witch yourself? I can imagine a barrier full of Kalafina posters and runic complaints about unreleased tracks from Madlax/Tsubasa/Xenosaga
EDIT2: according to this blog, the estimated delay for Madoka is two weeks. although I'm not sure where the information comes from (the blogger mentions Shaft HQ building critically hit, but the post-quake tweets from the staff we read earlier didn't describe the damage of such scale - although it's a no-brainer that the interior was a mess, and production delays were quite predictable).
Also, some say that Walpurgis Night is actually April 30, but most pessimistic opinions suggest PMMM might still fit in, after all. hopefully not, though
@Rafael, I would rather they delay it and deliver a quality episode than a rushed job. What's more, the earthquake certainly did put a ding on the production. So....I think it's fair to cut them some slack.
Apparently they don't want to repeat the case of Bakemonogatari ep 10.
I wonder about the schedule, though. The time slots are usually booked for weeks ahead; will they shift all consequent series? Otherwise... For all we know, ep 11 may actually be streamed online in the end.
Rio Rainbow Gate, Fractale, Hourou Musuko, Starry Sky, Pokemon, Naruto Shippuuden, Bleach, Fairy Tail, Super Robot Taisen, Saint Seiya The Lost Canvas all aired.
