Musicians blogs (Korenaga, "Jr", Akagi etc) [all posts go here]

^ Wow, thanks so much for the help! I'll update my translation :plot:

I'm glad you enjoy reading these as much as I do :dote: :sohappy:

Yep, the musicians' blogs can be just as interesting as the main members' so it's nice to keep up with their activities. Sometimes they may even mention details which are not published elsewhere. ^^

Oh btw, thought I share a bit of info related to a term which probably may be handy when it comes to translating blogs like these:
打ち上げ - its literal meaning is "launch", but when it is used in the context above, it usually means "after party". It's more or less like a wrap party/gathering of sorts where everyone go for a meal/party after they have wrapped up their activities (e.g. a jam session, business meeting) for the day.

So for Jr's blog entry above
この日の打ち上げは
焼酎のロックで2往復半(?)
It's
This day's after party was two and a half round trips of shochu on the rocks(?)/For this day's after party, we had two and a half round trips of shochu on the rocks(?).

("...のロック" is a term for "[insert liquor name] on the rocks" when alcohol is concerned)

Every now and then, you may come across "打ち入り" which is kind of like the opposite meaning of "打ち上げ". It's the party which people hold when they begin a certain project together e.g. staff and cast members gather to celebrate working together on an upcoming Anime, movie etc.

LoL, :ohoho:

Rebecca's last-ever concert in 1990...specifically, this song. Please don't ask me how I turned it into a .gif file :uh..:

EDIT

And here it is...

Translation of Jr's blog, June 26:

And, the next day, in the Kouenji Show Boat, it was Gumbo & Bourbon Night!

This time was guys like:

Harada Kentai (guitar)
Takahashi Jr (bass)
ichiro (guitar)
Vice Principal Teacher - Ryoji (drums)
Principal Teacher - Higuchi Akiyuki (drums)

The organization was "Blues Middle School Students". The band name seemed to take place like that. (!)

Please send mail about it if you can. We're taking applications.

Well, as for the matter of the live—supporting the principal and the vice principal, the 'Juuzou Trio' did things like singing and playing solos.

It became a very fun night.

Let's meet again, Gumbo & Bourbon Night!
Next time's meeting is undecided!

And afterwards is Kaji-chan's WEEK! :shy:

It's so incredibly cute that he calls her Kaji-chan :nosebleed:

Side note: the drummer Ryoji is also in JUNGAPOP, which Jr and Koichi-san both play in too. And the guitarist ichiro is in GIBIER du MARI, which Jr plays in. Suffice it to say, they're all in a lot of bands at once :XD:

Kaji-chan lol. It sounds more like a male name :ohoho:

offtopic: ninetales, your siggy is :nosebleed:

^ I actually believed up until a few months ago that 'chan' was for girls only, until I realized that it was the diminutive. But I don't think I could call her 'Kaji-chan' at all, ever...

Oh, I can just picture Jr and Kajiura-sensei on a date, with him calling her Kaji-chan over a glass of wine :shy:

I'm a romantic :ohoho:

Just for the record, could you tell me which part of my sig makes you :nosebleed: please?

Sorry for double post

I shall add this to your list and ask for a brief translation if possible ^^

Managawa Marina's (violinist) blog post about Kalafina Lacrimosa (looks like she bought it (she has played violin at some of their lives).

Here's the translation, as close as I could get it. I had trouble with a few parts :uh..:

We're getting close to the rehearsal, and unusually I'm working with the electric violin.

I'm doing support for the vocal unit Kalafina, who sings things like the ending theme for the anime 'Black Butler'.

We'll be going to Shibuya next week, and the rehearsal for the Kalafina Closed Premium Live will begin.

Everyone in the supporting band, aside from myself, is a veteran. But the atmosphere of the studio is awesomely heartwarming, and I'm having a lot of fun studying everything.

The producer Kajiura Yuki-san is a good-humored person...
(Here she talks about the music and how powerful it is, at least as far as I can tell.)

Actually, I know Wakana-chan out of the three. After she made her debut, we worked in Saitou Tsuneyoshi's musical together...
(I have a little trouble with the rest of the sentence.)
If I think about it, it's my first support work.

Now, when I consider it for the first time, she's gorgeous without even thinking about it.

(Here she talks about what effecters she's using on her violin, I think.)

As for Kalafina, they have a lot of good tunes. The importance of making even the band's arrangements different is a good feeling. (I added the Black Butler ED Lacrimosa to my karaoke repertoire right away.)

It'll be a fun live!

Apparently she doesn't use the electric violin very much...I personally thought she played a little flat in Lacrimosa and Ongaku, so maybe it was because of her not being used to playing an electric violin. :confu:

Morio has a new blog post, June 28:

On topic, here's the translation of Morio's blog, June 28:

'Feelings' and 'heart' seem to exist differently.

Both are things I don't think about…however, they're very important things.

The other day, while I (??) a younger man, we filmed a PV.

It being finished still became the priority, but I feel that I certainly want to put the courage that we accomplished in one shot into my hands.

The boy, who didn’t have conversations with just a few words, discussed his troubles with me. He has a warm personality, and he talked while he was laughing.

I clapped him on the shoulder, saying, “It’s okay. Try your best. But let’s think about why this is.”

The way he goes out and collides with the beginning of life makes him a boy who has a lot of ‘human relations’, I feel.

The way he always collides with living life is ‘human relations’.

But, I thought about why that is.

It’s not a stranger’s (sei?)

At any rate, it was an enjoyable filming.

I was in sight…however, as a matter of fact, it was a day that felt itself turning into a big meeting.

I thought I’d do that importantly.
And I want to add to such a moment.

This year has truly been a year of upheaval.

It’s both pleasant and nerve-racking.

Already, I don’t like the summer heat, however, I think I’ll try starting something new.

As for life, it’s inspiring oneself.

I added my fingers (is this an idiomatic phrase?), and now nothing is uninspired.

Hope I didn't wreck it too much. Feel free to correct me :spotlight:

It actually makes a little more sense than I thought it would :psst:

Oh, now I think I want one :uh..:

Actually Jr got a metronome app for his iPod a little while ago, and he seemed very impressed by it. I think it's the apps that makes them so cool... :desksweat:

So here's translation of Jr's blog, June 30:

Last night was Kajiura Yuki's first set, at NHK Hall.

Oh yeah, it was interesting! With a whole lot of new songs, did everyone have fun?

For some reason, in the subject of last night's live, "NHK":

N – Nandaka (A somewhat)
H – Hotto suru (hot)
K – Koto (item)

As for me, serving as a spot of laughter (??), I want to consider Rakutarou's answer, since there's no cushion to sit on at the mike on the stage, heh-heh.

In any case, with Kaji-chan, and the earnest petitions of NHK Hall, it was the best live!

Now, as for last night's live, Vol. 7, it was just limited to once, or so I thought; but, there'll be an additional performance at Yokohama Blitz! There'll be a whole lot of highlights there!

Let's go forward with gusto.

Because of that, this time's menu is very musically interesting! It's definitely fun.

That time too, we'll surely recruit yellow-colored cheers.

Yup.

P.S.
Backstage, I inspected the new iPad and iPod.
N – Nandaka (This somewhat)
H – Hoshii na (wished-for)
K – Kono iPod 2 (iPod 2)

I love the whole "NHK" thing :XD:

Apologies for double post

Translation of Jr's blog, July 1:

The other day at NHK Hall, during the Kajiura Yuki live, the violin-playing band member Konno-san let me fiddle with his iPad 2 backstage.

Ehehe...

As for this guy, (I have no idea how to translate this), it's an adult's toy.

For the iPod and the iPad, there’s a difference between the 'o' and the 'a', and the screens are different.

I went to visit the Apple store.

And I instantly bought one.

At the wrap party after the Yokohama Blitz performance, I'm going to brag to Konno-san about it. :XD:

Oh well, as for tomorrow, it's an outdoor live at Earth Garden!

That's right. Tomorrow, at Yoyogi Park, with SandiiBunbun. And it won't be seen all at once.

The performances are expected to go for 14-and-a-half hours!

And it doesn't look like it’s going to rain...

Note: SandiiBunbun is, I think, a woman who performs Hawaiian-style music. I've just seen pictures of Jr performing with her band now and again, and she always seems to be wearing the lei, the grass skirt, etc.

But how can you just go to the store and buy an iPad like that? They're so expensive... :imdead:

^ I know...I noticed that the instant I visited it. :XD: I wonder if anyone's ever tried to correct it?

Anywho, here's Morio's blog, July 4:

EDIT

All set with translation of Morio's blog, July 4:

The hot days are continuing.

Where I live, Yamanashi, is cool - but I can't think in such a way.

I want to go visit cool Yamanashi, but Koufu is hot!!!
Hahaha...

Already, it's becoming summer, so gradually (the new album?) will be announced. This time, I'm going to try my best at making it completely by hand. And while I'm covered with ink, I'll put my heart into it, one sheet of music at a time.

I'll be changing the manner of order and such a little, so again I'll inform you of it.

Also, after the live in Kisshouji on the 25th day of this month, I won't be doing my solo lives until October.

And, when the revival happens in October, I think you'll be able to see a new Nozaki Morio. (This is the 'miseraretara' sentence.)

Certainly, please come and have fun!

For the second half of this year, I'll be working stormily.

So that I can always give everyone the information dispatch - I'm home, but I'm preparing.

After this too, please support Nozaki Morio!!!

I had a slight problem with 'miseraretara', so I just forgot about the 'tara' part. I don't understand why it would be in the second clause of the sentence, because all my books talk about it being in the first clause :confu:

And also, here's Jr's blog, July 6:

Petticoat laneに行き
お店の外まであふれるほどの人達が集まって
アキヨちゃんを偲んで飲みました。

みんなアキヨちゃんが大好きでした。

ありがとう、アキヨちゃん。

I think I'll keep my last post from getting any longer :ohoho:

Translation of Jr's blog, July 6:

In the lower part of Tokyo, there's a fun place called Petticoat Lane. There, every evening, fun people gather, doing things like dancing to pictures and music or reciting poetry; an abundance of many unique and interesting people gather there, and noisily drink sake until the morning...

The owner there, Akiyo-chan, recently passed away.

She was a wonderful woman, like an idol of lower Tokyo. And she was still young, barely 50...

But, we eulogized her amazing life. Both in work and in play, she always tried her very hardest. She always lived a brightly, enjoyably, very wonderful life...

...that's what I think.

Last night, we held a wake and said goodbye.

After that, we went to Petticoat Lane - all the people meeting there almost overflowing to the outside of the place - and we drank to Akiyo-chan's memory.

Everyone loved Akiyo-chan.

Thanks, Akiyo-chan.
Goodbye, Akiyo-chan.
Honestly, thank you, Akiyo-chan.
We will never forget you, Akiyo-chan.

Such a sad post :TdT:

Re:

:XD:

They are expensive indeed.

Actually, I just had a rather in-depth discussion about this topic recently. It turns out that they are best served alongside "proper" computer-based DAW setups (something like your Reaper, Cubase or ProTools with the VST plugins already pre-installed). Basically, how it works is that you remotely interface the iPad with your desktop DAW (which is offsite in another room from your recording side), get the apps/plugins necessary, and you work with it in the RECORDING studio. After you're done, you move back to the big DAW to work on the mixing and tracking.

So it's a bit of a toss up between a luxury device and a genuinely nifty gadget, I think. :ayashii:

^ Well, I'm afraid I don't understand your technical terms, but I think I see your point. The iPad would work rather like a laptop then, right? Not as powerful as a desktop, but more convenient and easier to access.

The difference is in the user interface. Cos some people want to play around with synth/effects plugins (which is VERY common for most modern/mainstream music) and you can't really do it very well in real time with a mouse and/or keyboard. So, the iPad's large touch screen interface works well for that here. Think of it as a sandbox device for recording various effects and synths via software in a studio.

That said, Android apps are available too. It's just that less apps are being written for them that will sync well with professional full-scale DAWs (digital audio workstations), which is a shame. But I'm sure it'll catch up one day.

^ Thanks for the explanation! :V:
