Kalafina's new single ~Kimi no Gin no Niwa~

Hmm, now getting a little discouraged, since I hate rap, and yeah, signal was kind of like that for me, at least Hikaru's part. But it still had more of a melody than most rap. But I will soon find out, tomorrow (morning hopefully) what Tsuioku sounds like. Yay! Also liking the covers a little more now since the PV. :dote:

Tsuioku is the Kalafina I loved years ago. I hope these glorious days will be back. Thanks for the links!

Just got to Keiko's part in Tsuioku... wow. Now how can someone say that this is like rap? It's nothing like it, nothing at all. I love it. I am so glad it didn't turn out that way. :sohappy: Anyways... here's my full review:

Kimi no: same as before, I love the song. It's so bright and cheerful, but fits Madoka. I love the chimes and music box. The PV is nice. It gets stuck in my head and stays there for awhile.

misterioso: While not a stand out Kala song, it's nice as well. I like the melody and fits the show as well. Also gets stuck in my head.

Tsuioku: Wow... I love the serenato vibe. And the cello, and darkness of this song. I was waiting for another dark song, and we have it! It's definitely strange to put it with the other two songs, but oh well. I love it, especially Keiko's part towards the end. The abrupt ending is kind of weird, but the whole song is just awesome. I am so happy I got this single.

Okay, I accidently ordered two of the DVD version, so if anyone would like it, I am going to put it up for auction on ebay I think. The postcards will be included of course. Or if anyone has a better offer PM me. :dote: I had ordered it back in August. lol Oops. Overall I love this single, it's really good in my opinion. :dote:

Yeah, I don't see how Tsuioku could be considered rap. Rap has to be spoken--it doesn't mean "any fast, choppy song," or else half the pop genre would be rap. Signal and Aikoi aren't rap either--just upbeat electronic pop. Kalafina sings many genres, but including rap as one of them is stretching it.

^This. And right, rap has no melody whatsoever, so I don't say "song" or "music" after it, since Yuki's work is much much better. Anyways... still loving this single. (Every time I listen to misterioso I half expect the voice at the end, the one from the club. lol)

...Umm, that first song isn't rap. It has a choppy, repetitive melody, sure, but it's sung, not spoken.

Rap has rhythm. I dunno if it should be called melody...

@george: Yes, but most of it is just talking, or shouting. I just hate it is all, when there is better stuff out there. Anyways, back on track.

Finally got my single today! :sohappy:

I'd spoiled myself with watching the PV for Kimi and also the radio rip of misterioso but I swore I would hold off on Tsuioku until I got my CD. . . So glad I did!!

My thoughts:

Kimi: I wasn't quite sure what to think of it when I watched the PV but it grew on me very very quickly. It has a lovely melody though I will agree with everyone that it has remnants of Yane scattered throughout. I think Keiko's lines are my favourite (especially in the video, she was stunning in it :nosebleed:) but the girls all sang equally well. I also like the little harmony they'd pass off at the beginning of the verses~ Definitely a fun song to sing, and one that gives me feels ; u;

misterioso: I quite liked this when I first heard it, and still do. I like how upbeat it is, it makes me feel like pushing forward with energy! It's not a song I'll play constantly, but I do prefer it to Mirai (which gets played rarely haha).

Tsuioku: omg. This was love at first listen. *^*
Wakana's opening lines were beautiful along with those chime//bell-like tones in the background. I LOVE the way Hikaru sounds in this song, I think this way of singing is my favourite of hers. Also, Keiko's lines towards the end :shy:
Ack and that cello > u <
As a cellist, I highly appreciate anything that includes that beautiful instrument :XD:

The way the chorus flows does indeed remind me of serenato, but totally not a bad thing~
I agree with Coral, I really wish they'd given Wakana the second verse too, I feel she's more suited to it than Hikaru (since Hii definitely owned the chorus).

The ONLY thing I didn't quite like was the somewhat abrupt ending. . .

And there we have it!
Very happy with this single, I can't wait to see these songs performed live in a concert (aside from Kimi & misterioso)

someone who has bought the Limited A or Regular edition, could post the scans of the booklet? domo arigatou :dote:

I cheaped out on shipping this time, so I won't get my copy for another 3 weeks... Don't really have a choice though, considering the upcoming Consolation Live release and the bluray rerelease of Noir... But having heard Tsuioku, at least I'm sure I won't regret buying this single.

@Kagaribi : I actually really enjoy Keiko's strong voice in the bridge, because the bridge is somewhat the turning point of the song? I don't know how to say it, but it's like, when Homura turn the time back and made it Homura-verse world, and the bridge has the most fierce/strong lyrics from the whole song, imo.
That is my feeling when I only listened to the mp3, but I think that it works really well as the 'song's turning-point' when I saw the PV, but still... It may be my personal taste that I don't like when there is some specific part of the song that sounds too different from the remaining..^ ^ll..(ex. Hikaru in Seventh Heaven or Keiko in Hanataba...(while I know that these songs are many ones' favourite...XP.))

4th place on the first day in Oricon chart, 3rd place on the second day.
http://www.oricon.co.jp/rank/js/d/2013-11-06/, selling 7201 copies on the second day.

Will this single break the record of Hikarifuru 38k first week sales? :hmm:
I remember that the Top Three on the first day have quite high sales...(IIRIC, even the third place get around 39k which may be good enough to get the first place if it's released in another week...O_O.) So Kalafina on the fourth place may even exceed 30k already... (+IMO...I really prefer this to Hikari Furu single.)

^
Well, even if the 3rd place get around 39k, the 4th place doesn't have to be around 30k...they could still be in around 10k or 20k if the 5th place is less than them. But I wish for the best for this single as well! Since this single has new songs, not some 'recycle' and the songs are more enjoyable than Hikarifuru. :dote:

Aww man. With the upcoming Kalafina live DVD (since I love consolation new songs that much) and FJ new album next year, idk whether I should get this single or not... :uh..: But those pictures are soo tempting~ If only they treat the AE like Hikarifuru (all 3 songs instrumental) I definitely buy it for the sake of Tsuioku instrumental.
