Oh so the vinyl does come with photos of the girls, that's cool.

Still hoping there'll be a vinyl album release though, I might actually be tempted by that.

Kondo Hikaru says he's been telling sony music to put out a record with all the KnK songs. He says if the ryb record sells well the probability of that happening should go up.

I've noticed that in Koibito's lyrics there is 'shiroi hata' which means 'white flag', the ones from RYB PV, maybe? Am I just daydreaming?

The photos of the vinyl look great. I was disappointed with the anime-centric cover art (the main heroine of UBW is Rin anyway, so why go for Saber artwork again? I don't understand that one) but the back cover sort of balances that out. The half-semicircular inner sleeve looks good quality too - square inner sleeves tend to crease and crumple up around the corners in my experience, unless they're made of paper. It reminds me of the vinyl release of Boris' Praparat mini-album, which was beautifully presented. I wouldn't be surprised if this release was manufactured at the same factory actually.

The only problem though...even if my Amazon JP order is processed, there's a chance that I'll be charged before I can get the money together and it gets cancelled. :comeback: (I've started selling off stuff in my flat to cover the bills for this month while I wait to hear back from the jobs I've applied for). tl;dr: unemployment sucks but I hope I'll be okay this time. The dispatch date is the 13th when I checked earlier today.

I don't like Koibito lalala. the song itself is kinda fresh but it passes me just like that. Maybe that's because the structure of the song or me being bored aka fed up with all Wakana-lead songs. the girls' singing is much better in koibito lalala than in ryb, though.

I like Wakana's voice in Koibito, but compared to it Believe's b-sides are way better. Koibito feels long and plodding, and reminds me of some of the songs in After Eden. Ring Your Bell is still nice, though I was expecting that the intro would be longer.

Wakana at the start of 2nd verse is like WHOA (it's like what I imagine she and Hikaru combined would sound like and I like it, or maybe it is Hikaru or both? Fuck me. Confusing line.).

Well... to me it doesn't sound like either of them.

紅の涙と焔に焼かれて (not sure if I got this right)

Like "kurenai no" doesn't sound like Hikaru at all. The way she goes higher afterwards is totally Hikaru but that last note once again isn't. Not that it sounds like Wakana either... Hence my confusion. Maaybe they switch/mix seamlessly... but that would be like a first time effort for Kajiura, lol.

Anyways, regardless of who is singing I'd welcome more in this style.

Sounds like Hikaru singing in a darker tone. It can't be Wakana because of the vibrato.

Love the song, btw.:dote:

Imo it's Hikaru who sings the verse we're talking about. oyea just wanna add that Koibito lalala is less enjoyable version of utsukushisa.

ring your bell's final chorus is actually kind of epic/grand if Wakana doesn't epicly fail belting those notes. I like ryb a little bit more than Koibito lalala, although both songs are not that good.

lapis ftw.

Useless thoughs's corner: An extended version of Koibito's intro would be an awesome track for an OST (maybe for Heaven's Feel movie :ayashii:).

I really like Koibito. Maybe I'm biased because is the kind of Kalafina song I use to like, but it has something. Unlike RyB, which for me is forgettable. I'm pretty satisfied with the Kalafina b-sides we've been getting, and this one didn't dissapoint me.

Ahhhh I think I have to wait too. It should ship tomorrow and I should get it Tues, since that's how it usually goes. I still like RyB, but it is similar to Believe, though maybe a little more flowing? Interesting song title for the b-side though.

Joining the few who like "Koibito", though I do agree it gets boring because it's so long. Wakana's singing sounds like her old voice imo, but that might just be my wishful thinking/imagination. Also agree there's not enough Hikaru and Keiko ;o;
RYB on the other hand... I loved "in the silence" on first listen (because I'm a sucker for these overture-style songs haha) and the actual song not so much, but it grew on me.

Koibito....was kinda similar to Utsukushisa, but for me its not that bad (or maybe just because Im a big fan of Jdark songs hehe XD) I really wonder why Wakana cried during the recording of this song.:confu:
Oh well, I agree with @Kohaku_ about the RYB.. the more I listen, the more I love <3
Overall, its a great single for me.

... well if we reverse that - has Hikaru used a vibrato like on "kurenai no" before? Not that I'm insisting it's couldn't be Hikaru - this particular part sounds very new to me and I'd like Kajiura to explore it more.

Edit:
I like the song again after not hearing it all day. I guess it's a track that one just shouldn't listen on repeat at all... I know some of you said it sounds familiar to older tracks but I actually think Kajiura somehow avoided using many of her tricks here and generic endings for the phrases. Also enjoying how pulsating some of the backing vocals seem, for example: Keiko's "shizukani..." @ 2:30.

Koibito is not like anything I've heard from Kalafina before.

And I bloody love it. This is a pleasant surprise indeed. There's likely no chance they'll play it in October but if they do I might just die. The vocals throughout are wonderful, the buildup is nice (as a post-rock fan it is something I have a tendency to really enjoy) and once things kick in, I just fall in love.

I guess I can see the similarities to Utsukushisa (hell the lyrics even include the word at least twice) but not quite as good. As expected since Utsukushisa is beyond normal levels of great.

Have you noticed that, in Koibito, in the minute 2:40, the melody sounds slightly like Tsuioku? It is just in that moment, and never again in the whole song. Or maybe it is just my mind.

Nope, it definitely is from Tsuioku. I noticed it immediately on first listen because the same melody was in in every nothing as well.
