Kalafina new single ひかりふる

I love this single, all of the songs are gorgeous. I'm a bit sad about Hikari furu having those super ridiculously high notes because let's be real, Wakana isn't really capable of going that high and staying in tune (she obviously did her best effort, but it sounded weird. I just think such a sudden change of register is a very very complicated thing that maybe only Yuriko could pull off properly). So yeah, I think the uber high notes are unnecessary and it's sad that they kind of ruin a really beautiful song for me. Magia Quattro sounds even darker, I love it. And Mirai is an amazing song :sohappy: my queen Hikaru is as perfect as always :shy:

Keiko is obviously a being of flawless perfection as usual. And Wakana is really improving, but uhhh those super high notes are a no no.

OMG!!!!

Hikari Furu was more than i expected!!! :shy: :shy:

Really beautiful, simple and elegant, i like this kind of PV!!! :nosebleed:

and the song!!!!! Marvelous!!!! :dote:

I think Wakana got back her voice. :shy: When we compare in the live of vol #9 and here she is much more better and she did quite a good job on high pitches. those who don't agree with me please open Liminality live from vol. #2 :knife: I'm thinking that will persuade you :sparkleguy:

I'm happy that during interview I was able to see more hikari you na hikaru :XD: Her talkative side is improving :ayashii:

I've loved the end of Hikari furu most :sohappy: Especially at the en of it, Keiko solo then Wakana solo comes :plz: makes me dok doki :shy:

Okay, I broke down and started listening to Hikari furu live. I really do hope I will like it more when I listen to the recorded version, since I do agree that they sound like they are straining. Yes, it is a new song and would be hard to learn right away to sing live. Wakana did not sound like herself though in the beginning. (Even though I do like Kala covers of songs, I kind of wish they had been new melodies.) I think Mirai is my fave as well so far. I will have to wait until I get my copy.

It seems I'll be the one who love the studio live version more than the recording for Mirai. The studio live does have imperfection here and there, but the emotions of the song are caught better in studio live. And for me, Keiko's lines sounded better in the studio live.

PV...is boring, but somewhat pretty. After all, for me it's nice to look at a PV which mostly centered at Keiko :XD: Keiko doesn't look like a Japanese at all in the PV, thanks to her heavily centered at eyes and nose makeup.

Mirai is still blah.

When did wakana lose her voice? It was one live she sounded bad in. Err

Pay no attention to assumptions, some people expect perfection and compare too much. What matters is whether you find it okay or not okay. Fans are still growing, If Japan finds it okay and Yuki finds her okay therefore she's okay.

I agree with Equalizer, if Yuki thinks she is okay then it is fine. I hope this doesn't turn into another long discussion either.

why the heck can't I rip the video with nicofox, realplayer, fast video downloader and some other programs and plug ins... nothing works with this video, but I can download any other NND video :uh..:
:confu: I didn't have any problems with nicofox

hikari furu is so beautiful :touched: I really love it though the PV is meh
and I like mirai too...it's stuck in my head right now :XD: probably because it sounds so happy and light~

thanks for everyone who recorded the live! I accidentally slept in lol but I'd probably be kicked out anyway orz

I haven't been able to watch the PV so if anyone would be so kind to point me to a place where I could watch it I'd really appreciate it. Mostly I just want to listen to the quality of the recording since the studio live was well, live :XD:

hikari furu was really amazing :tea:

like I've said before, the best parts in Kalafina's songs are the bridges :sohappy: The branching our of the voices were really impressive

And like I've said with mirai before, just because CJ was popular doesn't mean it has to have a japanese version; what were they thinking :uh..: . But I think they did that because its not "somewhat" allowed to repeat a bgm in a movie? :ayashii:

can't wait for the single :tea:

oooh these make it five total tie-in. I wonder if they will be releasing an album soon. Maybe a tie-in for mirai fukuin :ayashii:

So that's the entirety of ひかりふる. A few of my thoughts on it:

Mirai is nice, but as many have said, gets boring fast; after the first 30 seconds it effectively just repeats itself over and over again. There's just nothing really to it - It starts, plods along and ends.

In every Kalafina and FJ song I've heard, there has been one standout part for me; a little something that catches my ear, whether that be an entire section of the piece, a solo, a part of the arrangement, a great riff or even just a single interesting harmony. For me, this song just doesn't have that special something. It's no doubt great soundtrack music, but not for a single, I feel.

ひかりふる I've already talked about. It doesn't cross into new territory in any way. It's another YK ballad which sounds a bit like all of the other YK ballads.

Magia Quattro is actually quite good, but I have to ask, why on Earth are they singing in it? The strings are playing a totally different melody to what is sung and dominate the piece. Scrap the singing, make the backing instrumentation a little darker and let the strings do their job. A missed opportunity I feel.

This single is essentially a big recycling bin. :p It's definitely not a favourite of mine. Perhaps I just don't "get" Madoka.

To those saying that Wakana sounds totally fine, please, go put on Ashita no Keshiki, listen to it and then immediately shove on Hikari Furu and TELL ME that she sounds just as good. Can no one else hear the honk? The first word "Hikari" should be enough...

Pay no attention to assumptions, some people expect perfection and compare too much.

That sounds a lot like a straw man argument, my friend... : p

Disclaimer:
These are my opinions, I'm not attacking yours, I'm not trolling, I'm not trying to start an argument so do not get upset at me. Thank you.

I'm one of "those" you speak of so I should stand up for myself and fight for what's right.

Nah I'm not like that lmaoooo I know what you mean - I listen to ASHITA NO KESHIKI on occasion and what really impresses me about WAKANA's voice in that song is how soft WAKANA's falsettos are. ^_^; Especially in "ashitaaaaa" and "shiruuuubeeeeeeee!!!!" (OMG FAVOURITE MOMENT EVERRRRR) Her falsettos in HIKARIFURU are more rough... less soft, you feel me? I kind of feel like she's forcing them out more in HIKARIFURU. But it doesn't bother me TOO much.

And one more thing about WAKANA: I really like her overlapping vocals in the verses of MIRAI ^_^; and her harmonisations at "chiisana inori wo..." and "akari ga kieru koro" are so beautiful

That PV was so interesting I fell asleep halfway through.

So Hikari Furu is the Japanese version of Sagitta Luminis? I didn't like the track so never really paid attention to it. Least ways I like Hikari Furu much more. Keiko's lines :shy: :shy: :shy:

After a few listens of Mirai, I've gotten bored of it. Like what people are saying, there's nothing special or memorable about it. It's like Kajiura wrote it for the sake of saying she wrote a song. :uh..:
