Because Kalafina is currently her most successful project, I won't be surprised if we got a Kalafina cover album from her old works...

Many are complainig about repetitiveness in her recent works, and not only Kala shares half its personnel with FJ, but also some recent songs from the two groups sounded switched between them. If Kajiura releases such an album, it'll be like professional suicide lol :XD:

Sadly, although what you've said is true, in a professional music industry, what's matter the most is the market demand. We've got Kala performing nowhere now, even if that's not a Kala song. It's normal to be performed in Animax Musix because there's indeed a session for song-covering. The fact that those Japanese voted nowhere and Anna ni Issho for Kala is a proof that they indeed want to hear old Kajiura works sung by Kala.

If there are indeed quite lot amount of request for Kala, it's not impossible. And Kajiura already done that in Everlasting Songs with FJ. Why can't she do the same with Kala?

^But FJ is a group that work part time for Yuki to sing her old stuff at her lives (and, occasionally, release some original stuff) :XD: Kala is supposed to have its own life/identity. But I do agree with you, if the fans want so bad to hear Kala singing old Kajiura stuff, that album might become true at anytime. And, talking about that, wonder what the fans will choose for them to sing at Animelo this year.

^ you mean ANIMAX MUSIX.... and they haven't been confirmed to perform there (though they most probably will) :XD:

^ :omg: Yes, Animax! We were talking about Animelo last night on chat, guess it got stuck on my head :XD:

After saying Hi this is Kalafina, each of the girls gave a short greeting.
Wakana:
I'm really glad to be able to come back to NHK Hall. There'll be some people who will be seeing a Kalafina concert for the first time today, some will have seen us many times already, and some people might even not know us before this concert, but I hope all of you will enjoy our music.

Keiko
This is Keiko. Today before the concert, I walked through the hall, to the 1st floor, 2nd floor and 3rd floor seats. On each place, I tried to picture how our concert would look like from the viewpoint of the guests, and for the concert I'm keeping that image in mind and I will try to create the best.

Hikaru
It's summer now. I'm going to do my best to sing and give my energy to everyone, so you won't fall ill from heat exhaustion this summer. [Note, in Japan, a lot of people complain that the summer heat makes them ill.]

I'm very happy that all of you made a decision to come see our concert on this day. We'll do our best to make sure you have a good time. Now I'd like to sing this song which is perfect for this season. "Natsu no Ringo"

<MC2>
When they finished singing, Keiko introduced the songs, and Wakana said they were quite dark. Keiko tried to talk but her voice was super rough.

Keiko: After singing those songs, I have no voice.
Wakana: Well, during the studio rehearsals, everyone was talking about how scary Keiko was when she sang Lirica.
Keiko tries to talk, then suddenly growls, "EXCUSE ME!" and walks to the back to drink water from her cup. Then she turns around, comes back to the front, and says in a high cute voice, "Hi I'm back!"

(BTW, on a personal note, I found this absolutely hilarious, but no-one else seemed to be laughing... Oh Japan, why u so serious?)

Hikaru:
Everyone sitting down, and I can really see your faces well. Actually, from "Serenato" to "Yami no Uta", the songs get progressively darker, and it's really fun to see everyone's expressions get more and more tense. That makes it very rewarding for us to sing these songs.

Keiko:
Well we have many types of songs. When we were making the set list for this concert, we thought very carefully about what songs we would like you to hear, and put those in.
Next, I'd like to sing one of our new songs. Moonfesta will be released soon, and this is the coupling song. "Yane no Mukou ni"

<MC3>
The talk was about what to do this summer, and one of the girls said, we talk about the beach.

Hikaru:
I don't want to go. Well, actually you can probably imagine already, but the truth is I can't swim. Also I always get bitten by insects. So I have to carry around "Muhi" (a medicine for bites).

Keiko:
Yes you can tell when the seasons change by checking with Hikaru whether she got her first insect bite of the year.

Wakana:
I would like to get a scuba diving license. Because I want to see sharks.

Keiko (interrupting):
So it is about sharks!

Wakana:
Yes. I love sharks and want to see them. If I can't get a scuba license, I'd like to be able to, um, what you do call it, with the mask and pipe <pantomimes a snorkel>.

Keiko:
Snorkel

Wakana:
Yes, snorkel. Um, I don't know if you need a license for that. But anyway, I would like to try, and someday I would love to see the sharks in Australia.

Keiko:
BTW, recently we've added some bright songs to our repertoire as well, and now we can even create a bright (meaning happy, light) playlist. Now I'd like to bring you a song which encompasses a message that is close to what we represent. "Mune no Yukue"

<MC4>
Keiko:
This is our second time performing at NHK Hall. Again, I'm struck by how big it is. The first time I stood here, I hoped to be able to create a wonderful time with everyone, and today I feel we have done so. That's why, while feeling a strange mix of nervousness and satisfaction, we are able to create this time with everyone, word by word, note by note. Thank you very much for today.

This year Kalafina will be entering its 5th year. It feels like a turning point. We hope to do our best to create good music and keep moving ever forward, with a fresh feeling. For that new beginning, this is the song. "To the beginning"

<Last greeting>
(after encore finished, everyone is at the front of stage)

The band and Kalafina gather up, and they all line up and are about to say the last "Thank you". The three put down their mikes.
Keiko: "Can you hear me?"
Crowd: "Yes!"
Keiko: "Even on the 3rd floor?"
3rd floor Crowd: "YES!"
Keiko is really surprised and happy to hear their reply. She's practically jumping up and down in excitement.
Keiko: "Thank you for your feelings! I really want to thank you! Ok, everybody together now!"
W, K, H hold hands and shout out, "Kyou mo arigatou gozaimashita!". Except, Keiko screws up! She shouted "Arigatou!" and it was a garbled messed. Keiko did a orz while everyone cracked up, and she went to the back and then her back to the audience while squatting down in embarrassment :rain: until Wakana went to comfort her and bring her back.

Then they redid it, and it was fine.

At the very last, when they were waving hands to the audience, Keiko stood in the center, put her hands up to shade her eyes from the lights, and stared at the 3rd floor. "Give me 10 more seconds!" she said. Then she said, "Ok! I've burned this image into my head!"

Then all exited.

Thanks for the MC update. LOL Keiko and Wakana moment in the end was so cute.

Thanks for the MC updates! Aww, the girls are incredibly cute in their MCs. Wakana is all about sharks, and we can see how Keiko love sports, and told Wakana that the one she is talking about is snorkel. And Hikaru~ Hikaru and insects don't get along well. :ohoho:

Totally love how Keiko makes some hilarious comments (the one about season's changing and Hikaru, and interrupting Wakana about sharks!) Keiko is really the one with the entertainer (and not only singer) soul~~ That makes me love her even more :shy: :shy:

Keiko's got no voice after singing lirica and Yami no Uta :omg: Keiko did really make her voice sounds extremely low and scary in that 2 songs, so no wonder... And Wakana told the audience about how scary Keiko's voice when she sang lirica in the studio rehearsal. Now I really want to see lirica live.

Wew, Wakana wants too see sharks, maybe in Australia. That's a really good news for a certain Wakana fans who lives there :XD: :XD:

Once again, many thanks for this!

Thanks for the report!

Got no voice after 6 songs? No good :uh..: Seems she has to rest as well

^Or maybe some training would be welcome. If she sings so low and scary for Yami no Uta and lirica, it must a great effort for her.

And thanks nomakegirl for the MC's! They're really funny and interesting. LOL at Keiko fail at talking in MC2. Maybe after such demanding songs, they should do a short break, instead of an MC.

I guess you're wrong. Many bands plays cover songs from bands that they have no connection at all at their lives. Plus, if ths sole fact of playing would demand royalties payment, there would just be no teenagers with garage bands :ohoho:

That's where PRS comes in. Japan will have it's own version.

Besides, since we're going deeper into this, I have a doubt: who is the copyright owner? While you guys are saying about the composers, I think that the copyright owner is the record company that release the original work. So, I still think that, if Kala wants to play nowhere live, they can do it as many times they want; but if a performance should be released in a DVD of theirs, Sony would have to pay the royalties to the original recording company (Flying Dog, right?).

A record publisher has the rights to PUBLISH a record, but doesn't own it outright. A record label on the other hand, may own the songs - it depends on the contract, really. I don't know enough about Flying Dog - Is it a record label or publisher?

According to Za Wiki

Victor Entertainment is a subsidiary of Japan Victor Company (JVC) that produces and distributes music, movies and other entertainment products such as anime and television shows in Japan.

I thought these were the same :blood: I get more and more confused about this :XD:

Thanks, I was enlightened, really. ^_^

I think Keiko was fine. She was putting out some pretty serious power from Serenato to Yami no Uta, so I think she just got a bit dry. After the MC, she was back in full force. In fact, in the songs for the next set, she drowned out Hikaru and Wakana almost completely every time she harmonized. Storia with just the alto line is... weird.

Or maybe that was just bad sound balance ^^;;

That said, I do agree with aero.senpai about the short break. They should have input a costume change halfway though, maybe after Magnolia. It gives their voices a chance to rest, plus it gets the audience a bit excited while waiting for them to come out.

My biggest issue with the concert (aside from the bad sound balance) was that the audience was sitting down. Because they were sitting at the first song, due to the constant pacing of the concert, they stayed sitting down the whole time. They only got up at In your eyes. To me, that was torture. When the people on stage are singing with all their heart, and the band is playing hard, I can't help but want to stand up and feel the music.

I seriously thought I was going to expire from stress at Magnolia. I love that song (I love rock and euro-beat). Asking me to stay sitting down is like... telling me to stop breathing.

Same thing happened at Anime Expo. People only got up for Open Your Heart and The World.

Imagine sitting down while they sang Mezame, Salva nos, Stone Cold and Parallel Hearts.

Oh my god... No I don't even want to try to imagine it. That should be certified cruel and unusual punishment.

well, at least by sitting down, everyone got to see the stage. unlike when everyone is standing up....... :TdT:
