Kalafina in Budokan 28 February - 01 March 2015

^ Is it really?! I thought it was Believe too. :swt:
Goes to show how much of a duplicate the two songs are. Believe goes "meguri kuru toki no naka de deatta" while heavenly blue goes "akogare no sumau aoi hoshi no hikari".

I remember it since heavenly blue's first line of the chorus has "aoi" in it, which means blue, and thus heavenly blue.

I mean I do like some of their choreography, but imo more often than not the moves don't fit the song's aura or it looks not natural.
Choreography when it comes to formation changes and stage position is something I like seeing instead of just the girls standing around. But, when it comes to dance choreography, none is better. Kyrie is terrible in all subsequent releases after the Red Moon BD due to the octopus arms in the intro, and I hate Magia, Manten, in your eyes and moonfesta's dances. Unless the girls take proper dancing lessons or hire a real choreographer, no dance is fine, thanks. And the dramatic arms thing is getting pretty unintentionally funny as well, like in sandpiper's instrumental section.

Unpopular opinion:
Most of the time, the issue is with the long instrumental sections where the girls have nothing to do and have to fill in that gap with a dance of some sort. But it sucks nearly every time (only Te to Te to Me to Me is okay since it adds to the song's atmosphere). And sometimes, I just wish they'd cut out those instrumental sections for live performances in the first place, like Magia's guitar solo, signal's long ass instrumental at the end which adds nothing to the song, Manten's violin solo, magnolia's guitar solo and in your eyes' instrumental solo. They just drag out the song for no reason.

Pahaha, all this mistaking HB for Believe. And some people still think they don't sound similar.

Honestly I couldn't have told you which one it was because I only watched it once and I didn't have my headphones on. I didn't even listen to it:ohoho:.

The dancing doesn't really bother me though. It's not something that I pay much attention to when watching the lives.

@Kirito I think the problem lies to the fact that Kajiura is still keeping her songs to the form from when she didnt yet do Live performances (or did rare), and an instrumental bridge is kinda her trademark compared to the other composers who most have guitar if they make a bridge. In Live their serve so that the musicians can shine, but yes I agree that its ackward when in the lives the girls have northing to do. They could shorten then for the lives so that there is a small solo (after all most of the time the musicians dont follow the melody of the original song and improvise).

Now that I've noticed alittle bit more... Is that the image of the poster official? :vortex: Because I want more Hikaru, she seems so tiny compared to the other 2. :fwa:

Some instrumentals are fine, but when you have instrumentals where the girls have to dance to fill in the blanks, that's a sign it should be cut. Sometimes studio doesn't translate well into lives, and while I know Kajiura-san tries to make the live version as close to the studio version as possible, at times, some things must change. Even she herself does this with her FJ lives by adding Kajiurago sections for the live renditions. Cutting out instrumentals really isn't so hard, and it'll be better for everyone - the musicians don't have to work as hard, the girls don't have to embarrass themselves with terrible dance moves and the audience doesn't get bored.

It "looks cute" but it looks ridiculous.

It's just your opinion, I won't be as happy if those instrumental parts are cut, what kind of live when you don't see a guitar solo? It would be SUPER boring to me (and other instrumental solo parts are wonderful, so bad if they were cut) :XD:
About the moves, I must admit that I don't like them, but I don't hate them either. Well, I mostly stare at the musicians when such parts come, those are their times to shine. :kungfu:

You'd rather cut out chunks of songs than deal with a little bit of odd dancing? That's a terrible idea. If I was there and they played a bunch of songs without the instrumental interludes I'd be heavily disappointed, in some cases I'd go as far as saying it'd outright ruin the experience. Maybe it's because I listen to a lot of score and instrumental music that I think this way but cutting it out is not acceptable, especially if the reason is simply for the sake of stopping someone dancing a little.

I'm not saying cut out all instrumentals - just the ones that don't add to the song and only serve to drag it out. Magia's guitar solo is there just to be there. signal's additional instrumental section at the end of the song adds no value whatsoever. Manten's violin solo is also unnecessary. It's those instrumentals which I prefer cut. The Ongaku guitar and violin solos - those are fine. The HnS flute solo - that's adds to the song.

It's the instrumental solos which the girls have to dance which I want cut. Because like I said before - they drag out the song. I want it cut not because I don't appreciate the instrumentals (I wouldn't be listening to Kajiura's music if I didn't), but because it doesn't add anything and makes the girls look ridiculous.

If they could dance properly, fine, leave it in. But no choreography is better than bad choreography. For which the girls don't NEED TO DANCE. An even better solution - just fist pump and what not like in the FJ lives where they don't look ridiculous and the girls aren't just standing around.

I'll just end it here. I'm obviously jumping to conclusions since I haven't even seen the whole performance yet to fully judge.

Tbh, I think that a little of dancing is good for the sake of entertaining. (just a bit, 4 or 5 songs in the whole live)
Otherwise they just standing there or changing formation would become boring. I know that their (and our) focus point is on singing, people go to their lives to hear them singing not to watch them dancing but a show is made up of several things, we can't deny that a little of moving is necessary to keep the audience entertained. Of course the coreography could be better and the girls could take a couple of lessons. (not too much, I don't want them to become idols)

Regarding the instrumental question, I think that it's impossible to decide which parts add something to the song and which don't. For example I love the signal part you mentioned. I also think that there are tracks which are so amazing also thanks to the inst. part. I'm thinking of songs such as sandpiper (maybe I'm the only one who doesn't find the long inst. boring) or Hanataba.

It's only those songs I mentioned which I have an issue with. Sandpiper's instrumental is fine, in fact needed since the song's too short without it. Like I said, if it adds to the song, then keeping it is fine.

It's a problem more to do with the choreography than the instrumental. If they can fix their choreography, then it's all good. Nothing needs to be cut. XD

Half of sandpiper is made of instrumental (I don't really mind it in the middle of the song but it was way too long in the beginning and the ending, just adding more to the list of 'why I don't like this song' for me). Em and imo it's not the girls who need to learn how to dance when THE CHOREOGRAPHY is the ridiculous one. like seriously, no matter how good the dancers are if the choreography is ridiculous, it'll stay ridiculous.

I personally prefer them to not have any choreography at all. They could have more than enough stage presence by walking around the stage or by their trademark hand-waving. but it depends on the song. some songs worked better with choreography/dancing while some others don't. and No cutting the instrumental in live performances is not an answer. honestly, sometimes the instrumental are there to keep the girls energy because they don't have to sing more. we can see how they actually learned from After Eden live DVD where there are a lot of songs with long instrumental sessions that they filled with choreography and how the girls get tired much more quickly (especially Wakana) and as you can see, they toned down the choreography in Consolation DVD. So they're actually learning from it. Maybe some audiences said that they want to see the girls move around more on the questionnaire they're given after the concerts and as the girls said, they received a lot of inputs and consider them all. I'm only agreeing on signal stupidly ridiculous extra instrumental in the end because they're complete rubbish and it's not there on the recording.

Wow... those gifs. lol Especially the Keiko one. She's staring at you so intently (it could leave "emotional scars" on some people... seriously, some people have no life, this was from another thing that they said on @midnight about an artist staring at someone "too intently" through the screen that it left "emotional scarring" lol wow...) Anyways. I just sent the links for CDJ to my mom to order, since there's only a month from today! I hope it goes by quickly! But just a question though, if you do order from Animate do you get the box automatically from ordering the Blu-rays? If so I might consider that and change it. :sohappy:I am just too excited, even though there's no Ring Your Bell and Far on the Water, I was looking forward to those two. But the others will be just as awesome, I even like signal live, one of my least favorite songs by them, so I am looking forward to hearing that again.

As we feared, no ryb or fotw. And so, the respective MCs for those have been cut. This means no daisuki from kei-chan. Orz

Looking forward to the documentary for the budokan live.

As usual, choice of cover photo is weird.

I am of the opinion that no two lives are the same. INCLUDE THEM ALLLLLLLLL. Why would anyone hope for them to cut songs out... 理不尽
Hmm, on one hand the Blue setlist overall has more stuff I like on it... But on the other hand, Red has Alleluia. And I love Alleluia. SME, you evil persons born to unmarried parents!

...Eh. I might just keep tabs on Mandarake to see if some second-hand copies show up there. I don't think I can really afford paying full retail for these in the first place.
