Wow 100% Kajiura, thats good.
Her spirit is everywhere as the big elephant she is. 😉

And, they have no choice, really. The fans that have been waiting for them are waiting for the songs that made them popular and memories/nostalgia. Now is not the time to bring up a song people are unfamiliar with. It was always going to be Kajiura all the way.

I am curious if they used the backing tracks for Kajiuira's usual atmospheric effects/intros and Yuriko-sama's, etc., higher harmonies.

I mean... I don't think they have any non-YK songs? lol. Other than carols, I guess...

Curious how Kyrie/Ongaku will sound with a different band. The rest, not particularly interested. But if it's good, great!

Personally I'm glad this doesn't seem like an actual Kalafina reboot (and load forbid with YK attached full time again), 'cause I feel they would have debuted a new song if it were. Happy for Kalafina fans they got to see them all together again.

Musically/arrangement curious with those options myself. Konno being there means his solos will probably still be active, though maybe not as dramatic? The melodies are the same so it might just be the drummers unique fills, any guitarist solo stuff, and maybe a bassist doing something different. The lady's will be attuned to the way the songs have always been.
Other than carols, I guess
Yeah. Which anyone can sing.
Happy for Kalafina fans they got to see them all together again.
I'm one of them in spite of all the drama.

Oh, I just realized they had noone listed for flute among performers... Was a song like Hikaru no Senritsu playback galore or did they skip the flute? o_0
If they somehow ended up using old studio recordings freely, then I wonder what the new music producer even did. Guess we will find out later.

Flute = playback, sadly

Few quick thoughts:
Hikarifuru- please stop ;_; there’s a time to call it!

Wakana sounded amazing otherwise … I could hear better control in some songs like Kizuato and oblivious when they first opened the show.

Sprinter— the strings were too much in the bridge imo… overpowered them, it sounded very messy; I really liked Hikaru’s style opening the song though…..

Keiko- No cutsie voice throughout concert- YESS

Chemistry- still there, Iike 10th anniversary was just yesterday — I felt there were many similarities between this live and 10 anniversary that it was intentional (their dresses looked just like 10 anniversary with the white and gold)

Only one costume change - before the encore — Wakana white, Keiko black and hikaru blue dresses

… I kinda dig this pianist more than the original. Don’t shoot me lmao

Lighting was on point!!! Made me really dig “One Light” lmao also made Kyrie super club like

Frown upon me but I recorded the whole thing- link to follow

Good question! It probably was. It's just too integral, unless you just arrange it for a different instrument, which removes the folk music vibe altogether.

I suspect the new boss (I forget his name) was meant to be an arranger or coordinator and contracted only for this live. I'm not sure he's "producing" for now. At least I understand that as creating the music with the singers especially in the studio (correct me if I'm wrong please).

I suspect he mainly made sure rehearsals went through successfully, and he's in charge of putting things together - crossing t's and dotting i's.

His real personal touch may only really come in with the acoustic/strings-led songs. Kajiura's melodies are too strong for someone to just change up. 😎

Wakana sounded amazing otherwise
Good to hear that. At least as good as she's always been would be cool.
overpowered them, it sounded very messy
I am surprised. Was it an added strings part that wasn't there previously, or something about the way they were mixed?
Iike 10th anniversary was just yesterday
So it's presenting an image like there was no gap. Just picking right up from where they stopped.

Sacrilege! Sakurada is an incredible pianist and has a lot of feel in my opinion... Curious though.

I mean, I guess I'll wait 'til I hear some of it. Maybe they are completely new arrangements & backing tracks...
But it would be kind of sucky, if all they did was play along to old YK backing tracks but credited a new guy as "music director", lol.

Glad you had fun!

Re: spoiler
Oh u nasty. ;)

Raw audio starting at 6:30 pm bc I thought they would start right away

Also don’t judge my screaming lmao

To add a few more comments as fragments as usual:

-arrangement all sound the same to me tbh, which is kind of a consolation (hah) as to not deviate from the “Kalafina sound”

I do miss Korenaga’s Ongaku bridge, that DID stand out to me lmao

But otherwise, everything sounds very very similar production wise. You guys let me know if you agree lmao idk all the terms and technicalities

Hanataba- keyboard dude whipped out an accordion, plot twist I didn’t expect

Finished song with piano playback though (bc his hands were full)

And this is probably why I liked the new keys- bc they were keeping me on the edge of my seat whenever he would play an intro…. “What song is this gonna be??”

There was a moment of acapella at the end of Kimi no gin no niwa that I liked a lot - wish there were more moments like that

I love love love how hikaru prolonged her final note in “Kizuato…”

Little things like the above that were “new” felt really nice to me. I dig it

Little mishaps:
-Hikarifuru
-I caught Keiko forgetting to start her kajiurago bridge in “Mirai” lmao
-At the very end, when they bowed, all three were supposed to say something but one of them said “arigatou” by mistake and then they started laughing - it was really cute moments sprinkled all about the concert like this that just felt SO timeless it was magical (I understood 0.1% of what they said lmao)

Ok after encore, idk what happened to Wakanas voice but her vibrato just sounded so off, almost like a modulator effect… someone will surely elaborate more On this more eloquently than I can

Ok end of my Shinkansen ramblings — take it away CPMe

Just skipping around, Wakana is on key like 95% or more of the time. A tiny bit shaky in the beginning but after she warmed up it was probably her best unedited vocal performance in a long time. The F#5 in ring your bell is still so incredibly strained and shrill though. Even the Kajiurago in the sprinter bridge was very, uh, not great. And Hikari Furu too, yikes, which is a shame since she started out well. Anything not in her falsetto is actually great (I'm shocked). Guess going solo did her some good.

7-12 is the block where Wakana was on absolute fire. 15-18 and Magia is Hikaru's best vocals of the night but that's par for the course since it's the rock section. She was quite unpleasant throughout most of the concert and even her falsetto degraded too.

Keiko is just Keiko. That's a good thing, and she's by far the one who still sounded like her Kalafina days since she's been in FJ all this time.

I'm surprised they managed to have Keiko sound louder than Hikaru in the Ongaku chorus - that almost never happens and Hikaru overpowers Keiko with the high harmony.

I really didn't like Hanataba, I don't remember the accordion playing during the first verse. Caught a vocal hiccup with Keiko in Hikaru Furu. The piano intro was very pretty and I prefer it to the original.

So, basically a Kalafina concert. I do despise the set list since it's literally all tie-ins from their singles except Ongaku, I often say this but Kalafina's best material are their album-only tracks and B-sides. Considering that only hardcore fans would show up to an anniversary concert, I wish they catered to that more.
