Kalafina 5th album "far on the water"

I hope this is true - the longer it takes, the higher the chance of the album consisting mostly of singles (they seem to be one of those artists whose singles always appear on an album sooner or later). Even if the singles are good, you're still going to have an album which mostly consists of songs you've already heard and may well own already.

Also: the title. On a personal note, I hope the title is a positive sign of some sort referring to my next career move... :ayashii:
 
Is it ordinary that the album mostly consists of singles, or it's just normal for Kalafina?
 
^its normal for almost ALL professional singers/artists, especially if it will be released as a full studio album. :)
 
^ yeah, in fact Western singers do an even weirder thing (at least I find it weirder the way they do it, despite living in a Western country lol) where they release the album, and then the singles (from the album).
I really hope there are more new songs on the album, and less of the single songs. maybe even some live songs *COUGHXMASACOUSITCLIVESCOUGH* but of course that will never happen
Also yeah, 'far on the water' is a rather unexpected album title.

I see. It seams that Sound Horizon is the irregular case because they haven't released a song two times at least from 2005. Also, they haven't used a song title as a title for album or single.

If I am not wrong that is a result of their few releases unlike Kalafina who have three singles in less than a year.
 
Sound Horizon is not a J-pop group but something unlike other. They are troupe and band together. They release story CDs, which afaik on Haruka Shimotsuki does too, so these are their "albums" and they only release singles as prequel to the albums. Also unlike Jpop groups, they dont do lives all year long, but save up for after the story Cd comes out, and so they get strings chorus and all. They also seem to depend alot on the BD releases to get money back.

About the Bravely Default concert, its not just the support from Pony Canyon, but also that the company he composed for was Square Enix. Its the company in Japan that exports the most quality games, and makes concerts for many of their games, like Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts (in london too). So considering the popularity the game received, they agreed to poor money on that concert and get full orchestra and choir.

I totally agree with you. It's almost impossible to a full orchestra from a label.

I think even if they get good sale for both Cds and concerts, a lot of their money go for production process.
 
@george1234 I didn't explain well, my fault. I mean, all of their titles were somehow linked to something 'surreal' or 'magic'. Seventh Heaven is connected to Paradise, Red Moon is the one moon associated with demons and alikes, After Eden is once again linked to the Heaven concept and Consolation is not something physical but rather spiritual, a sort of superior blessing (however it concerns the inner world, is 'abstract'). FOW, instead, seems like something still in connection with reality and so it doesn't give me a Kala feeling.

However these are just my useless thoughts on useless things xD
 
Eden was uppercased tho. (idk if you counted it or not since the album title is After Eden)
 
Far on the water is more realistic but not at all. My associations of FOW are: island on the lake, mist, maybe rain, fairies, forest... Like tale, fantasy...
I don't know which associations about FOW has Kajiura-san... Maybe they're not so mystic like mine

This. The only artist (I follow, at least) that comes to my mind right now that had no previous singles on an album is Namie Amuro, whose said album was only released a few weeks ago (her debut album might also count, but I was thinking more recent).

I'm happy Kalafina is releasing a new album. I'm not too fond of the album name though. :waa: Some names of Kalafina songs grow on me and this probably will too, I just haven't heard any part of the song yet. For now, though, I think what bothers me is the wording. Saying "far on the water" doesn't sound natural in English to me (I've heard of the phrase "on the water", though). I'm sure there are other song titles by Kajiura that sound kinda strange, but for the life of me only the Engrish lyrics from signal pop out at me right now. It sounds silly and nitpick-y, but yeah.:spotlight: I'll try to remain optimistic, though.

'in every nothing' to name one. Kajiura's English song titles usually have only one word (mostly nouns), some have 2 (usually adjective+noun or noun+adverb). Longer titles that I remember are only 'I have a dream' and 'she has to overcome her fear'.

oh yes those too. i forgot that TRC soundtrack has some long English titles. voices silently sing, a song of storm and fire... and now I'm watching the live vol.9 there are everytime you kissed me and I reach for the sun too (these two are forgettable so I completely missed them) and my long forgotten cloistered sleep. but her English titles for Kalafina songs so far are always simple and not long though and most of her songs have simple English titles. maybe only around 10-15% from all songs she composed that have more than two words.
