I feel as if there are more upbeat songs on this album, never a bad thing
Into the water sounds amazing and monochrome was fantastic, it intrigues me so much
I really want to hear identify live, I have a feeling it's a good crowd rally song.

@grunty: Its funny though that in lyrical nonsense they have a list of site that "steal" their content and encourage people to not visit them , while they do the same thing to whatever japanese source they have :desksweat:

i really, really like the lyrics for light purple..can't wait to hear the whole song for that! gogatsu's lyrics kind of made me all teary eyed :touched: i guess since the lyrics are up on uta-net, i could get started early & release them once i get my hands on the booklet :ohoho:

I'd really like to be more advanced in Japanese :touched:
You are making me have more expectations yet!

into the water is the most random intro to this CD. monochrome is so bizarre and I like it but as a song I feel it's really incomplete, lol. gogatsu would've been decent if it didn't have this Distance-ish/Kagayaku-ish/familiar-ish verse melody. I'd really like an instrumental of Usumurasaki (vocals are boring). identify's verse is still love come down and I don't like the refrain (pre-chorus is okay although the change of mood does remind me of fantasia). I'd rather Hokage be an instrumental just cause the way the melody goes high with the violin sounds better than when Wakana does it. :p (Also the beginning is so random that it couldve just as well started with the bridge without the vocals). Keiko fans rejoice! She has two half lines and a third of the bridge in Musunde! (not going to lie I think heavenly blue is one of the better tracks here, lol.) That bridge transition in Sorairo. (Both Sorairo and Hokage's instrumental bridges are throwaway Kajiura BGMs). Like I said in RHH thread, I think, I actually liked Wakana's lines in far on the water (although the melody reminds me of some Hikki song).

TLDR Not much leaving a lasting impression here. Sry. monochrome was the best IMHO. I'm guessing it might replace signal for the band introductions, lol.

Edit: I feel I should maybe explain what's bugging me about monochrome. I feel the song already climaxes when the refrain starts repeating at 90seconds (!). Then it basically ends and slowly reboots to the bridge (an improvisation) and one more condensed repetition of the opening 90seconds (which makes those 90seconds the whole track). It just doesn't feel much like a full song...

Yurika-chan! Arigatou godzaimasu!

monochrome - wow! I love this song. It's really interesting: bridge, accordion, two different melodies sung by Hikaru and Wakana (like in destination unknown):dote:
Gogatsu no mahou - I have a little medieval feeling. Refrain is beautiful... Like a song about medieval love... Hikaru is great in her verses. Bridge - wonderful - Wakana, you was amazing!
Usumurasaki - middle-east! I love it!!! I hope that girls will do a great Kaladansu during instrumental part! :sohappy:
Identify - i like it. Guitar intro, Keiko verses, Hikaru's energy.
Hokage - nothing original. The most boring song in whole album:waa:
Musunde Hiraku - another Mirai, but it's better than Mirai. Surely this track will be used as ending song. And Keiko verses :goodjob: Bridge is beautiful.
Sorairo Isu - I can imagine evening, moon on the sky, stars, lake during first Wakana's verses. Violin solo - it's so beautiful!!!

Favourite song: Usumurasaki
The worst: Hokage

Kajiura-san did a great job! It's the best album for me :tea:. I can't wait to see and hear it live! I'm pretty sure that FOW Special Final will be released on dvd/bd!
However it should be more Keiko.

into the water sounds like some KNK thing. I think it might be the birds…
and this is out of order;
monochrome has too much going on but it's not dislikeable. Musunde sounds like something that could be on After Eden.. Keiko sounds great, it's a shame I don't like this song much. Sorairo no Isu is pretty, but also strange how it almost changes into another song in the middle. Hokage is nice, but forgettable. Usumurasaki is interesting and has great lyrics but it's an "I have to be in the mood for it" kind of song. There isn't really an "epic" track and it's no Seventh Heaven/Red Moon but it really isn't a bad album imo (if you have no issue with the anisongs) and I'm sure most of the new ones (or all?) will sound great live. I kind of wish there was more kajiurago aside from Gogatsu though unless I missed it lol.

My favorites as of now are Gogatsu and Identify. And broken record speaking : there is never enough Keiko.

Thanks, @Yurika-Chan !

Yeah, that low filtered voice in "monochrome" sounds like HIKARU instead of KEIKO to me. Feel free to disagree

I am in loooove with "musundehiraku" oh my gosh! So basic so generic YKfeelgoodtheme but I dig it ahahahha

lol Hikaru only comes in the second half of the song means she got one line to herself and replace Keiko harmonizing in the last stanza of Sorairo no Isu. I went lol wtf when the key suddenly changes after the part in when the sample ends. The song only has that one (well, two sets of melody lines) that repeats all over the song. This is no match to Kiichigo.

Usumurasaki passes me just like that (although maybe it's good that I don't feel that 5 minutes already passed). another serenato/tsuioku/ien type of song that Kajiura obviously loves to make, especially in the recent Kalafina.

All Keiko part on this album comes in identify. Sadly I don't enjoy the song that much save for the bridge.

monochrome = what grunty said. pretty sure the instrumental bridge will be extended to unknown length on the live for musicians introduction. And lol @Hikaru screaming harmony.

I still don't like Hikaru straining voice in Musunde Hiraku. The song in general is also boring and depresses me. the kajiuran comes randomly, Wakana's voice is really heavy in this one, idk how to describe it but imo it's weighing the song down making it almost unbearable.

Gogatsu no Mahou is another distance, but the chorus actually stucks with me because of Wakana's falsetto (?) peppered all over the chorus. The singing itself is boring boring, +1 to grunty, would like to have instrumental version of this song because I like the strings.

Hokage is sapphire02, nothing else could be said.

I can't believe I said this but yeah heavenly blue is actually one of the better track on the album.

Can't wait to see Wakana straining her voice in fotw special live. 90% of the album is her voice (Kalafina is Wakana) and if we're getting fotw live dvd, beside the album songs we'll get another has-been-overly-performed Hikaru/Keiko songs (most likely signal, Ongaku, maybe lcd as they actually love to sing similar songs back to back, ie. consolation>Kyrie) to give Wakana breathing and resting space.

I just realized that save for a few songs, all my favorite Kalafina tracks are either drum-less/digital tracks or songs with Nozaki on drums. The complete lack of Nozaki on drums is also a minus point of this album.

I actually enjoy After Eden more than this album lol. At least as bad as the songs are the album has variety.

Bye Kalafina. It's been a fun 7 years.

anyway this is link for those who use volume based internet like me and don't want to waste the internet quota to download this horrible album as whole and prefer to download only the new songs. http://sardeath.mywapblog.com/download-kalafina-far-on-the-water-5th-a.xhtml

Must... not... listen... :comeback:
OK... I'll listen to Idenitfy and Monochrome...

Thoughts on Identify: Hikaru sounds great on the verses! The transition into the chorus is a bit weird, but the chorus has grown on me. Love that guitar solo in the bridge! :hearts: The sample didn't give the song justice at all.

Monochrome Thoughts: Love Wakana's part in the chorus and verse! The soung sounds really fun, and will be just as fun to see live. That Wakana x Hikaru part in the 2nd verse sounds really nice. It still sounds like Moonfesta+Signal, but that's a combination that apparently works!

Hopefully my willpower will keep me from listening to other songs and totally not listening to Gogatsu no Mahou that just started playing.

EDIT: Gogatsu is now my favorite on the album so far. It reminds of some songs from the game that I'm playing through atm, Bravely Default (Music by Revo)

I really like this album. It's got a new middle eastern feel (excluding most previously released counterparts)
As per usual Hikaru and Wakana are getting all the love in terms of vocals. Wakana has some really high notes I worry for her in lives and I really wish they hadn't filtered their voices in some of the songs like they had, in monochrome it can be very obvious. This is a good album for lives, lots of energy and hopefully lots of smiles too!
Identify reminds me of the band Duran Duran i think it's Keiko and Wakana's harmonizing.
Feel as if this album has some of the most upbeat songs, I could be wrong though. It's good for me since the more sad less upbeat songs of Kalafina's (or anyone really) can make me very emotional even if I don't speak the language.

into the water - something straight out of KnK Mirai Fukuin. Like it.
monochrome - yup, likng this. Wish it was longer.
Gogatsu no Mahou - very pretty. Has that Distance/FJ kind of feel, but just as enjoyable a listen. I love the strings and melody.
Usumurasaki - The Arslan ED I wanted. XD In love with this (has that Tsuioku-type atmosphere)
identify - A song without Wakana! The only thing I don't like (but don't dislike) is the chorus melody, but other than that has great delivery by Keiko and Hikaru.
Hokage - beginning is weird. It's like starting from the middle of what the song should be. It needs at least an instrumental intro. On the plus side, strings are beautiful. And I like Wakana's mournful vocals. Sounds more like her old voice here. The song, however, is forgettable.
Musunde Hiraku - I'll say this again - I love this. Would've worked much better as a Madoka ED than Mirai. Lovely guitar and strings.
And I love Kajiurago as well. And all three get a healthy amount of lead vocals here.
Sorairo no Isu - Beautiful song. The instrumentals and the vocals are amazing. I just wish some of the verses could have gone to Keiko.
far on the water - Yes, I love it. The only thing that kills it is the intrumental after the Kajiurago - the atmospheree it built up just disappears. Should have gone straight to Hikaru, and the song would still be about 4 minutes long. I think this is the only song with a flute this time around. XD

The only album-original song I'm meh about is Hokage. The rest are good to great and Urusumaki is excellent. Definitely a lot better than their single songs, A-side and B-side. A solid album, if it weren't for heavenly blue and believe. Would be even better if Tsuioku, lapis and Koibito could have made the tracklist (alas, that is the fate of B-sides, no?).

I at least hope, given the sheer amount of B-sides this time around, that it will be performed during their FotW tour. Also because Keiko would receive some lead vocal time as well since this album is a bit too Wakana-heavy.
