Omedetou minna-san i know it's a bit late but I thought I should post what I felt about the album.
al fine is very fine and soothing.
consolation is so so for me and the ending vocals were a terrible way to finish the whole song.
moonfesta is very merry i especially like wakana's part in the middle and the instrumental version.
door, wakana made a good job i thought and the ending was very well done.
mirai, the original version (credens justitiam) is much better and i think it could be done much better.
hanataba is very cool and i think it's the best new song for me. the vocals, the ending instrumental were just wonderful. accordion suits Yuki nicely.
signal is a bit too techno for my tastes especially the beginning. keiko and yuriko's parts were the only thing i liked about this song.
obbligato was nice, the guitar was nice but i think it could be shorter.
Kichigo no shigemi ni is full of emotion(while it's true that it's sounds very familiar).
manten is very good but come to think of it i'll listen to let stars fall down livevol9 more than manten from now on :)
i don't feel much about to the beginning to be honest.
hikari furu's instrumentation is very nice but i still hate wakana's part at the beginning.
yume no daichi is good and i don't feel too strongly about it either.
overall, i am pleased with this album and can't wait for their next album

I figured that everyone was mostly interested in the Consolation and Yume no Daichi live performances anyway, and the link to those came up a few pages back. So, for anyone interested, I'll upload the full Talk #2 (it goes on quite a bit more after Wakana wins her tv plush) and Talk #3 (yes, there's a Talk #3 in between TTB and Moonfesta PVs). The rest are PVs anyway which I don't think any of us haven't seen already. I'd like to request that you upload your Talk #1 though. For some reason when I was watching that part the video kept pausing and I lost some chunks of the talk because of that. So please?

^ lol yes it does, a small part of the piano intro is same, and melody similar but not the same but that's not necesserily bad. (try putting the 2 songs to play at the same with different player and you will see what I mean).

3. Moonfesta I've said that Moonfesta is catchy but would be forgettable, but I think I'm wrong..:P...listening to it again in the album made me fell in love with this song. It's so fun and bright, so festive-like....love it :D...not easy-to-forget anymore.
4. Door It sounds a bit different from what I expected. At first, I thought of something brighter in middle-tempo, but door sounds more mysterious and nostalgic. It's a kind of sth. mysterious like Lirica or Utsushikusa, but while those songs give the nighttime feeling, Door has the daytime atmosphere.
I can imagine a girl sitting lonely in a creamy-white vintage room, with a sweet bitter memory, wondering what will appear behind the door. She decides to stand up and open the door at the end, let the sunlight comes in, and leave the room. Sounds like it can be another boring PV plot...lol, but I did see these scenes in my head when I listen to the song.
I love the way that Wakana doing the backup sound for Keiko's solo part. Yuriko's (?) kajiurago at the end makes me think of Chiba Saeko's 'Hikari'..(which is one of my fav. song from her..^^) Ok...it isn't that close when I listen it for the second time, but still has something similar...
6. Hanataba Hikaru's singing is so emotional...>_____<. I'm not a fan of accordian...but I love this song. Love Wakana's hook... Love the bridge....so beautiful. This song places quite low for me at the start but it keeps growing in my mind. YK10....yes...I want to hear this song....>_____<
Keiko's solo is sth. controversial in this song. IMO, it sounds so good...emotional and more aggressive, made me think of her Houseki cover. But it's too different from Hikaru. I'd prefer to hear Hikaru taking all parts or Keiko taking all parts for that verse, because Keiko's part sounds a bit too outstanding and it ruins the unity of the song. I prefer the second choice, because I feel that Keiko's style goes better with Wakana's singing style in the hook.
7. Signal This is what I expect from Signal...love it..!!! Without any reason..., I think of the song in .hack era....kioku..may be..lol. Love Wakana's aaaaaa... part...I feel that this is the first time I hear this kind of singing from her. Love it so much...very much!!!
Keiko goes really low for the chorus... I would like to hear the version that Keiko takes Hikaru's part (it's really matched her style IMO), but it's obvious that Hikaru can't replace her in the chorus if they sing it live. I love the accordian here more than in Hanataba. Hmm...when I listened to it for the second time, the Nowhere's Yanlaniyanlani.. also popping up to my mind..lol. (Is it the reason why Yuki composed this song for Kalafina..? XD.)
8. Obbligato The beginning really made me think of Serenato.. but it more Ongaku-like. A bit dark, and I don't know whether it's only me who feel that it'd be better if the song is faster, especially in Wakana's parts. I feel that it's quite too slow for the song in this style. This song got the high place in my mind at the start, and then went lower, and back to the high place again after I feel more familiar with that 'too-slow' tempo. Love Hanae's Kajiurago and Yuriko's (?) chorus in Wakana's part..^^.
9. Kiichigo no Shigemi ni The intro sounds really Gloria-ish. Beautiful nostalgic song....really remind me of Natsu no Ringo..lol. It's a fruit-type song of Kalafina :P. I expect more emotional singing (like in Hanataba) from Hikaru in this song, but this is also fine. It's like Neverending in the way that I'm not that impressed at first, but it keep growing in my mind...and the cello....yes...so yummy....^w^. Made me think of Gloria&Natsu no Ringo in combination...(So raspberry is the Glory Apple..????)
As for the girl singing.. I'm ok with Wakana's singing in almost all new songs... I'm worried about how good she can do in the live performance for some songs but I don't think that any of the new songs are more difficult than Hikari Furu. Hope she can deal with it well... Love Wakana's aaaaaaa... in Signal. It's something fresh.
Keiko rarely disappoints me in the recording version. Really love her solo lines in Hanataba and Door and also her amazing chorus in Signal. I love Hikaru in emotional ballad more than fast-tempo songs like Consolation, Signal or Obbligato. She sounds weaker and less fierce in this album, comparing to Aria, Progressive, Magia, etc. (She may sing them differently in live perf..I guess...:P.)
My favourite new songs:

In summary, I feel that this album has a lot of 'nostalgic' feeling from their Seventh Heaven era, but not as dark as the 1st album, not as bright as the 3rd album and has some Arabian-like feeling but not as much as those in 2nd album. It's something in the middle... (Don't know why I have the same feeling as FJY's Circus.) The melodies of all new song are quite new and fresh (except the Kajiurago's part in Door and the verse in Yume no Daichi.) It's my favourite album from Kalafina so far...^ ^.
As for the live:
Consolation: I think they did well for the intro&kajiurago bridges. Wakana's chorus is quite acceptable but not those 'ahhhh' parts. Her solo lines are pretty good. She did good in Kajiurago bridge as well and I'm surprised that the back-up voice there was sung by Hikaru instead of Keiko... Hikaru's sounds too heavy as a back-up voice. Her solo sounds awkward at the start but she did better when the song passed by... Don't like the ending...Hikaru sounded too aggressive and loud.. Even Wakana did some obvious 'falis' in this song, I must say that overall, she handled her solo lines and high-note chorus&kajiurago quite well, comparing to HF live.
Yume no Daichi: I love Wakana at the beginning. But I think Hikaru's voice was so thin in some parts.... Sounds like Keiko's chorus didn't blend well with the other two girls... Wakana still strained herself a lot during the bridge, but still sounded better than in HF's studio live. Hikaru also didn't blend well at the end. Don't like Keiko's ending...=_____=". Only Wakana passes my expectation for this live.
Haven't watched the PV yet...will download the HQ&watch it later.

^I thought of that scenerio for Door as well if there was a PV for it. I am also thinking of the girls going through doors, like a long corridor of them. lol It would be like one of my strange dreams. But they could be opened slowly to go along with the music, and then maybe some chairs and lamps. heh I do also agree about Kiichigo sounding like Gloria.

hey guys. just came back from the live in kawasaki. to those who have been asking, here's my review of "kalafina week". it's kinda long, so sorry.
well, i’ll start of on the 18th. I went to kalafina cafe and enjoyed a keiko and wakana drink. they were pretty good, but were expensive (lol). it was pretty fun. took lots of pics (available on my fb for those who have me ;]) and overall, it was a nice atmosphere. i wanted to purchase my cd already, but they only had the regular version. so the next day, i went to the shinjuku tower records after finishing an essay (i needed to get out of my room *__*) and wasn’t expecting to find the album out yet, but it was. and they had the costumes that they wore during the lives during the ttb era (not the pv ones..the ones with belts). it was nice to see the costumes up close. i took pics (lol...it had a big “no pictures” sign but oh well) and bought my cd+dvd. the next day (the 20th) was a holiday in japan, so i woke up early to enjoy kalafina cafe with my friend. i enjoyed the wakana and hikaru drink this time, with some food that the cafe served. we stayed there for 3 hours because there were rumors that the girls would be there. and WHEE they did hahaha. i got really excited! they were wearing their yume no daichi costumes. they looked so pretty ^.^ unfortunately, they never came to the area where we were sitting at. they never even looked :( they sat down with random guests and talked with them, while they were being recorded. i was a bit sad since i really wanted to talk to them. i was thinking “come over here...my japanese is awesome i wanna talk to you ughh” hahaha. however, that never happened. after they left, my friend and i left and heading next door to the shibuya tower records. i took pictures of the costumes, which were the consolation cover costumes, and walked around a bit. then we saw the girls again ^.^ it was awesome haha. they were walking around and they took pics with their costumes. i get so star struck whenever i see them. i never had a chance to get an interview with them, which is sad....but oh well. next, we went to akihabara’s animate, which has the hikari furu costumes, which i took pics of. next we went to akihabara gamers, which had their after eden live costumes (the black and white ones) and those were really pretty to look at. took pics, but we got caught and had to delete some :(. but i took a lot and the employee didnt notice the other ones, so >:) bahahahahaha. the day ended amazing! it was fun~ today, i attended the mini live in kawasaki, which was about an hour away from where i live. i got lost *___* so my friends and i arrived later than we anticipated...so we didnt get a front row view, but we were close. we watched the girls practice and give cute mcs during their practice. then it started at 2pm. overall, it was an okay live. i’ll give the girls credit since they were outside and it was windy, but hikaru was flatflatflat. i cringed during some of her notes. wakana did a good job overall, but she ended some notes early since i guess she ran out of breath. keiko did a wonderful job, no problems lol (i’m not biased! i love all three girls, but i feel like keiko never has any problems with her notes haha). they played consolation, kiichigo, and yume no daichi. consolation was ehhhhhh. hikaru was flat the whole time -___- but lets see how they do on 4/6!

The TTB Niconico live was great! No complaints here. :) I like how they're positioned in a triangle with their backs facing each other, pretty different from their usual positioning.

Consolation is still on #3 today....I think that they may make it into Top3 this time...(BTW, After Eden ended at #2 in weekly chart..? or #3..?
