Kalafina 21st single "Hyakka Ryouran" (Katsugeki Touken Ranbu ED)

AFAIK most drama in fandoms starts because "real fans" can't handle others not feeling the same way they do. Then there's (often self-proclaimed) "intellectuals" not getting along with "crude" people, too (and vice versa).

This, so much this. The rampant passive-aggressiveness that goes along with these disagreements is nauseating. I feel like it's worse now than when it was predominantly just you @grunty being the resident grumpy cat back in... 2010? Lol I guess around that whole ear cancer incident, heh.

You've been here longer and were included by a moderator in the category of a loudmouth, so I can understand that beef (not from here, from different situations). This is not even about what we were clashing about before, so at least refer to me properly.
I'm not gonna address the rest of the post cause it's none of my concern but...

What's with calling her a loudmouth? Do you really want drama? Hope you're ready for it. :P Just cause I use it (usually referring to myself) doesn't mean others are fine with it.

And y'all thought dealing with me was bad. ;) Those were the days. You can tell how passionate I was & "betrayed" (by studio magicks) I felt back then. ;) Now I'm just chill cause

I'm sorry grunty, I meant a "drama-starter". I had gotten your post mixed up with one of george's from yesterday.

Same difference. Just be ready for more drama if you're calling someone else anything. ;)

george1234 is a very specific mod and you either accept him or not. Yui Makino is one of those who don't. ;) You can read up on his last drama in some thread if are not familiar with it and care enough.

It's okay, I can pretty much tell from you guys' immediate reactions.

Just thought I'd explain the title of this song. It's basically coming from this yojijukugo:
百花繚乱 = https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/百花繚乱
Basically the top line: "A situation where various kinds of flowers are blossoming in many colors. Also a situation where many excellent creative people are assembled."

(A yojijukugo is this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yojijukugo )

Literally the yojijukugo means "a thousand flowers blooming profusely". Kajiura sensei substituted the kanji for "flower" (花) with the kanji for "fire" (火), and in this context they are pronounced the same.

(EDIT: typo)

The end.

felt like leaving my thoughts on this single.

\1. I really like this song and I'm excited for B-Sides obviously

2. I agree Wakana sounds a tad screechy on the very high upper harmonies. Reminds me of myself attempting to do the same thing which sounds much worse. Honestly ever since the RYB switch to the chorus line in the final "Ring your bell" shes been a bit screechy. It worries me because although she CAN do it I just hope it doesn't strain her.

3. I actually worry about Keiko forcing notes out a lot since her voice has become much deeper, it's not a major critique on her preformance here just a general thing that I keep thinking about lately . It seems as if Kajiura needs her to be extra deep and strong and thus some strange technique is brewing where she pulls the notes from some spot at her throat and not her chest. If you listen to her sing songs like Seventh Haven or even Magia comparing first recordings to most recent it sounds like an entirely different person. along with her having to use a "sweet voice" in the recent Marchen B-Side when similar notes previously didn't need such. The "Yaiba" line in this song while nice sounds a tad off, its just something I can't put my finger on. I'm probably being paranoid here, I worry too much.

4. Hikaru makes no impression on me whatsoever here, not a bad thing at all considering shes gotten a lot of love from A-Sides recently

5. The Kaijurago sounds lovely, not like Blaze at all which I'm very glad about.

6. I swear this song turns into the lovechild of PH and L.O.R.D the more I loop it which is mostly due to structure and instruments.

7. The guitar is really nice imo, like it a lot.

8. This actually turned out way better than expected imo after hearing the TV version and how PH it sounded I was kinda worried, nice to know it sounds a bit different

Agreed about the "yaiba" line. To me, it sounds like either she was just off-tune going into it, or she was trying to put some emotion into the line but ended up just sounding weird. She doesn't hold out the note that well, either, like she lost support for it.

I'm not sure about Magia, but with SH & Haru wo Matsu I think she's trying to sound sweet/cutesy. She's sung in that style for a while now in some songs, one other notable example being Mahiru. Though I personally don't like it as much, on those songs I don't think it's out of place.

I don't see how KEIKO "sounding sweet and cutesy" is a problem considering that's how she sounded in "Kaze no machi e" from her first ever appearance as FictionJunction KEIKO. She sounded soft during "bokurani dekirukotowa ..." in sprinter acoustic live of the recent ARENA LIVE video release, and that was a great variation of it. The versatility keeps me interested in her as a fanboy. What's the point of them even releasing new singles if all people wanted was to hear KEIKO being bad ass, WAKANA being angelic, and HIKARU being... hikaru..

I do agree with @LacrimosaRaven on Kajiura putting her into vocal roles that require such a deep, powerful, and resounding tone. "Ring your bell" and "believe" required a lot of VERY deep notes from her, and I agree it may be forcing her to adapt to a different style of vocalization. But they're professionals so it's up to them to control their techniques and I trust them enough to know they know what they're doing.

As for HIKARU not making an impression - 100%!! She's not giving me shit in this single. Even her thunderous lines at the bridge sound empty and robotic (which worked well in signal, by the way)

Yes, let's please talk about the single... anyways.

I just watched the short PV again and I am in love. I am trying my hardest not to listen to the full until the single comes out, and staying away from this thread. But I wanted to say that I noticed Hikaru wearing pants again, sort of. She has a dress over like in the Arena live. I like it more though this time, since it's not that noticeable. I am also listening to obbligato again (my favorite song) and all three sound awesome. I was hoping for a little more like this for Hikaru, since she is great in this song. I guess we'll have to wait for a live version to happen (where all of us can see) if she is more powerful there, like in One Light and Blaze. She was awesome in the Lisani live (though One Light was a little meh, I do not care for the song but like Blaze more.). I love these dresses/outfits. Wakana looks a little more Japanese than usual (if that makes sense) because of her hair and dress, which I love the hair style. Hikaru's is pretty and I actually love the sleeves this time on Keiko, they are not at all awkward like Hikari furu. I really hope I get the postcard that isn't all red. heh I can't wait for this single!!!

Double post, but just listened to the full version. I broke down. lol I get now why someone said Magia, it is a little like it with the Kajiurago... which I really enjoyed Remi's part! I think it's awesome that Yuki is bringing other singers into Kala songs. I do agree about the instrumental. It's like she was trying to give the guitar and violin a chance, instead of separate parts, like in most songs, but then ran out of time and mashed them together. And it doesn't really improve the flow of the song any. It's kind of weird after the MV short, but I like Hikaru's parts, especially after what we heard already and after the bridge leading up to the 2nd chorus. It is structured a little bit weird, but I think I will like it over time. I wish there had been more flute in the instrumental part instead of the guitar, flute and violin would have been better. It will be interesting to see the live if they keep Remi's voice in the Kajiurago part or they give it to someone, maybe Hikaru? Oh and I love love love Wakana at the very end. I think this song fits with her, since she sounds great here. Hikaru's part after the short kind of surprised me, like Keiko's part in Marchen, but now I enjoy that but it took some time.

I can't wait to hear the b-sides!

Kajiura sensei said that kantankatan can be interpreted either as "kantan katan" or "kan tan katan". Now I'm confused about the translations, I'd have to listen to the song :@_@:
She also said tonbo is a happy ballad with only singing and piano, and she emphasises the "happy" part.
And all three are songs where you'd have to listen to the words.
