MAAANTEEENNNN~~~~~ :sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy:

Finally listened - my reaction is obviously LOVED IT :shy: Gosh Hikaru sounds so amazingly badass in this one, she really is getting along nicely :goodjob: Wakana had some epic moments too, although I can hear the range difference between her and Hikaru even more obviously now - she definitely can't get as much power and substance on those low notes as Hikaru can...and I was glad to see Keiko had a solo too :dote:

Actually in some parts of the song it was almost hard to distinguish Hikaru/Keiko or Hikaru/Wakana's voices...

Could someone (maybe Kowz with his super hearing) just clarify for me, in the part that goes "inochi ga kanaderu manten no..." (around 3:00 in the song or there abouts maybe give or take 15 secs), who sings what? I really can't make out if Hikaru or Keiko sings the first 'inochi ga' (think it's Hikaru?), then I have no idea who sings the second echoing 'inochi ga' (Hikaru or Keiko or has Wakana come in by then and she just sounds unrecognisable because she's singing low?)
Then I know Wakana is definitely singing from '...kanaderu manten no...' onwards, but is it Hikaru or Keiko harmonising? :confu:

Hikaru, then Keiko repeats, then enters Wakana's "kanaderu manten no chorus". Also, both Hikaru and Keiko are accompanying Wakana.

^ Ahh, I see, thank you very much, Kowz! Wish I had hearing as good as yours! :goodjob: :touched:

i have the flac :ohoho:

please wait a few moments for an onion if u know what i mean

EDIT:

:hero:

Mine's coming tomorrow morning! I will probably not be able to sleep again from excitement. I am getting the poster, tshirt and the Arrietty soundtrack as well. :sohappy:

Thanks Zoa, but why does it say + scan, when there is none in the zip? I actually downloaded the whole file just because I thought there are going to be scans in it (already had the flac). :XD:

At first listen, between the two of them I actually like Manten more...weird or what? It's not the first time I've thought, "this should've been released as a double A side..." though - Hikari no Sentritsu is a great song, but sapphire is great too; different of course, but wonderful in its own right.

With any luck, both of these new tracks will end up on the next album. Thinking about it, I wouldn't mind a B-side compilation released sometime when there's enough non-album material to make up a CD... :gimmeh:

^I wouldn't mind if they were both on the new album either, although I would like more new songs. heh Although After Eden still had 9 new songs.

And yeah, Hime lol My poor wallet though. It will be worth it though.

While I do think the b-side is way better than the a-side, I don't know, it doesn't feel like a "a-side song" (whatever that means) so it'd be strange to release Manten as the main song of the single. Same goes with lirica, for example.

I think I understand what you mean there. 'to the beginning' has this "opening theme tune" vibe, but I can't put my finger on what exactly makes it sound that way when 'Manten' doesn't...and yet both a good songs. I'm not sure how Yuki writes songs though...some composers set out to write 'A sides', 'B-sides' or 'album tracks' while others simply write a collection of songs and decide what to do with them afterwards. Given how prolific she is, I'd assume that 'Manten' was written specifically as a companion to 'to the beginning' but for all we know it could've been written ages ago and was waiting for the right time to be recorded and released. It's the kind of 'interview question' I'd like to ask!

I think the example of "awesome B-side!" I had in my head was actually lirica (stupid head cold making my brain fuzzy)...the vocals in the finale are so intense I wish it had made it onto one of the albums. More people need to hear that one. :touched:

I like "to the beginning". Maybe because there's this similarity to "Parallel Hearts" -- one of my favorite Kajiura song.

The only downside is that I don't like the ending. I was looking for something more grandeur. Repeating the violin solo was not enough.

This was actually discussed during their first Ustream live broadcast this month, which was WOTA Club. The Kala girls confirmed that Kajiura used "let the stars fall down" as the base and motif for "manten" (something which was very obvious already), and they also said quite a bit of other stuff about the song but curse my stupid memory, I can't remember much of what they were talking about. I really should have taken notes during their interview but I was having too much fun watching and listening to their discussions, I couldn't keep my eyes off the screen. :rain:

I like Manten slow beginning a lot. Agree with grunty that the key-change kinda ruin the song. I don't really like the ending, ruin the "intense" feeling that the song build from the beginning. Agree (again) with grunty that Manten is somewhat like "red moon 2"..And I don't really like Hikaru's part, either but I like the beginning of the chorus with her voice in the end.

Actually I like to the beginning more than Manten, lol

^ that's what i thought, too. when i heard manten, my thought was "omg red moon" (i love red moon and get excited whenever it's played) but then i remembered it was a new song :XD:

^
Hahaha, actually I don't really like red moon, and only listen to it on special occasion and it never grew on me. Maybe manten will be as well. Anyway, I like the "ten ni somuite" part on Manten...
