Hikaru admitted that she's having a hard time holding long notes, but I think she's working that out and practicing.
Besides, she's such a gentle and unassuming sweetie, I don't think she deserves such harsh words against her.
Hikaru always comes across as so lovely in interviews and things like that, and it's just so nice. Even if I disliked her, that kind of characteristic would make me feel a little guilty if I said anything overly harsh. And the effort and hard work she puts in should at least be respected and appreciated.![]()
She is exactly that! Hikaru always comes across as so lovely in interviews and things like that, and it's just so nice.

mezzo Sopranos are not common i think. Before, I had the impression that most Jpop singers have this tiny and sharp voice. :DKP-X said:I find it sad that people seem to regard all mezzo sopranos as if they're all common J-pop (and at least when I think of common Jpop, the image that comes to mind is one of those very gas helium ones). Just because it is more easy to find mezzo it doesn't mean they're basically all the same.

) whereas Wakana has more of the tragic, heartbreaking, wretched sort of feel. The best examples I think are Lacrimosa, which I think is Wakana's most powerful song, and sandpiper (the chorus sounds so heartwrenching). Both of them have that powerful, compelling utterly desolate and tragic tone, but in sandpiper especially Wakana sounds like she's singing from the utmost depths of despair. And coupled with those violins in the second chorus...

(anyway, Wakana is still my most fave among yuki's vocs but i still treat vocalists equally when it comes to group coz they're all gorgeous and has diff charms) Yes, I admit that in some lives, I don't like her way of singing (ex. the way how she sang kajiurago of serenato) but I think, she's still adjusting. In Red Moon live DVD, she starts singing falsettos (or whatever you call that) to sing back ups (which I like tho It sounds a bit weak). You can really see her improvements in After Eden. Cool.. =D I like Destination Unknown so much. :P
So I don't think people saying that "hey! wakana should be the one singing and not hikaru" is really, really right.
Kidd! :P
and other times when I sorta... cringe (the infamous "sayounara")

. I found that for me, the way she sang "Sayonara" is too aggressive for the gentle song like Fairytale, while Wakana's part sounds too gentle in an aggressive song like ARIA...but some one like the first one, someone like the latter, and someone like both... humen have so various taste..
.
Considering the fact that I have played the trumpet for 3 years, I think the metaphor works. :)Cerise said:...I think it's rather like comparing a violin to say...a trumpet? If Wakana was the violin and Hikaru was the trumpet (not sure if that's the best metaphor lol)
I can play trumpet too...but...deplorably...like, really deplorably...
). Likewise, a violin is more delicate with higher notes than a trumpet, which blares.
) but that's just because I felt really uncomfortable (and now really overprotective) when I read of how some people seemed to be singling her out and dissing her so harshly and undeservedly.
)
I agree with you :):)And Wakana's voice resembles the sound of a violin to me - they both have a sort of tension about them. And on the higher notes too, they both have a similar resonant quality. And whilst Wakana's voice is more tight and controlled, like a string instrument, Hikaru's is more open and 'blaring', like a wind instrument.
, and its sound is also sharp&sensitive, while Wakana voice is smooth, quite gloomy, and controlled..
. (but her singing in Lacrimosa is also violin-wise for me :D.)
