Oh man.

I actually don't think so...I suppose I can't judge since I don't listen to much mainstream J-pop, but she doesn't seem to be aiming for a cutesy sound or singing breathily like some of the Idolmaster or Touhou-cover singers.

Well, maybe I tend to generalize things when I talk about j-pop, but as far as her voice is concerned, at least from the little preview we have, her song is completely standard. It's really nothing out of ordinary, so for me it is generic. Not only that but I don't think generic is just about being cutesy. You mentioned Hikasa, for example. For me she is generic as well ;X But that doesn't matter anyway.

As for the song itself, I bet we're in for a depressive song. After all, I believe this second half of the series will be only depression.

^ I think I probably see J-pop differently than you...since there seems to be such a focus on cutesy stuff in Japanese mainstream culture, I think of any song where the singer's changing her voice to sound cute or "tiny" as being generic. But like I said, I haven't listened to much mainstream J-pop at all, since the songs are normally not my cup of tea...so there're probably a lot more Hikasa-esque singers around than I think :XD:

For me, as long as the singer's voice is pleasant, I'm okay with it. When it comes down to it, I do prefer more unique-sounding singers like Keiko, Yuriko, or Chiaki (which is why I'm not that big of a Yuuka fan, since her voice kinda fits the "cutesy" theme in my opinion), but I'm not very picky overall.

You're probably right about the song, though. I hope it won't be another Magia... :uh..:

^For some reason, the type of song that comes to mind for F/Z right now is Michiyuki. I may be completely wrong, though.

I'm glad that Yuki is composing the song for Season 2, but I was hoping for either FJ or Kala. .well I guess I should give this Haruna Luna girl a chance.

I wonder if there will ever be an anime where Yuki does the OST, FJ does the OP and Kala does the ED...Yuki-fied to the max... :ayashii:

EDIT: does anyone know where I can listen to this Haruna Luna? I can't seem to find her...:spotlight:

EDIT 2: Actually, never mind I found it on her website...

I guess her voice is nice to listen to but I don't think it's anything special since there are many J-singers who sound practically the same as her...

EDIT 3: ...okay now I think her voice might be nicer than aoi eir (but I can hear similarities)

FJ and Kalafina are assigned to different labels, so organizing that may be tedious. Unless you do a Kalafina x Kaori Oda song, keeping Yuriko chorus, but minimizing Hikaru's parts... :XD:

To second Nick, yes, it depends on the record labels sponsoring the music production of the series. Usually it's only one per series e.g. Sony/Aniplex for Madoka Magica; Flying Dog for Sacred Seven; King Records/Starchild Records for Dog Days. This determines which artists they sign on to do their OP/ED themes and insert songs e.g. ClariS and Kalafina (SME Records) for Madoka Magica; FictionJunction and Nanri Yuuka (Flying Dog) for Sacred Seven; Mizuki Nana and Horie Yui (King Records and Starchild Records [Starchild is a label under King Records]) for Dog Days. It's unlikely for different labels (Flying Dog and Aniplex for example) to sponsor the same show unless there's a joint collaboration, so it's unlikely we'll see FictionJunction and Kalafina doing the OP and ED for the same show.

^ oh...:spotlight:

Well then, all the more reason for Yuki to form her own label...Flying Yuki indeed :plot:

Flying Yuki? :XD:
I think if there was to be a label, Yuki would call it Fiction Records or something like that... Or maybe she'd come up with a Kajiuran name (she successfully made up a Kajiuran name for a girl group, after all). :ayashii:

@Kazado: I deem Historia OP referable here through its full-fledged single incarnation as Storia. Point taken with Voyagers, though: I honestly thought it was an opening theme (it sounds more like one, at least). :XD:

Yes, I agree with Nick, if ever Yuki would someday decide to have a record label of her own, the name would be made up as well a.k.a Kajiuran name.

...Her video is disgusting. Man, my patience has really ended for this kind of "singers". I'll put all my faith on Kajiura, she is the only one I can rely on for this song.

that "oshieteeeEEEEeeee" just killed me :uh..:
but it's nice to hear a new voice, let's see what kind of magic yuki can do :ohoho:

For me she is more like "visual and behavior cancer". Her voice is simply nothing out of ordinary, which doesn't necessarily mean "ear cancer".

Re:

This is rare for me but I'm positive with this girl and with Kajiura's help/magic. She can get a huggable song.

+1 :XD:

I'm so surprised that many ones think of Yuuka... the only similarity of her voice and Yuuka's I can think of is their generic-ness...lol. Her voice doesn't sound nasal for me...obviously less than Yuuka, Hikaru, and may be even Kaori...also less sharp than the first two...

When I visitted her blog, her voice remind me of Tanaka Rie's smooth tone in her singing for Yuki. (not her cute voice as Lacus or Chii or sth. like that...- -") But when watching the clip, it seems for me that her voice is deeper and thicker than what in her site, her comfortable range sounds quite low and she can't touch the high note efficiently... (like Kera said...that awful Oshiete......- -") Among Yuki's vocalists....I think her voice characteristic is closest to Kaori..., but less nasal and lower&more narrow vocal range...- -".

What I expect from her may be like Yuki thinks...she has her own way to express her emotion in the song...(which sounds weird in some song IMO...) I think she can give a good song when she sings a song which is in a proper vocal range for her&is trained to express her emotion in a proper way... Recently, Yuki produced many songs in quite low range...(e.g. Nohara, Magia, Destination Unknown etc.) I think she should be better for slow song coz it's obvious that she has a problem with controlling her breathe...

My guess is an emotional&dark&depressed&sad slow ballad...&I think Yuki prefers the way that she sings in the contest more than in the song in her site..:).
